We still have two games remaining in the Primera, but the Preferente finished this past weekend. So it's time to start thinking about who might be playing in the Primera next season! To summarise the rules, the top three in each of the divisions get promoted and the bottom three get relegated. Should any of the four Tercera teams contesting the playoffs succeed in moving up to Segunda 'B', that will also allow more teams to be promoted from the Preferente and similarly from the Primera. But this does NOT affect the relegation teams. There will, undoubtedly, be the usual shenanigans of teams folding and new teams rising from the ashes, and we can see the start of that when looking at the final Preferente league table. Ciudad de Cieza folded half-way through the season and UCAM-Guadalupe didn't get out of the starting blocks. So that means the only 'official' relegation into the Primera will be (should be?) Alcantarilla-Thader. That will mean at least two additional promotions from the Segunda Autonomica to keep the number in the Primera at eighteen. With four games to play, the Segunda league table looks like this: Keep an eye out here for news as it happens. (With some red herrings along the way!) The Federation will undoubtedly have their work cut out trying to get financial guarantees from clubs who want to register which may mean them offering places to other clubs not strictly in line for promotion!

CHURRA SNATCH TOP PLACE IN FINAL GAME OF THE SEASON Churra beat CF Lorca Deportiva 1-0 on the final day of the season and in doing so snatched top place from Lorca and Sangonera who had been going at it toe to toe all season for the top spot. Here's the top three and the final positions will be posted here after Sunday's game are concluded. Well done Churra who bounce straight back to the Preferente division at the first attempt after being relegated last season. Note that Churra have scored less goal than the other two, but as we know they have a cracking defence. 1 - GESA SEGUROS CHURRA E.D.M.F. Two weeks to go in the Segunda but Vistalegre have joined Javali Nuevo in promotion to Primera. The third official promotion is still up for grabs. But there will be others!

Did it rain last night?
There's nothing in this game for either team! Javali are champions and Vistalegre can't be caught in second place.

Looks like Javali decided they had better things to do than play a meaningless match. But they may have mis-calculated!
"REGARDING: THE NONAPPEARANCE OF THE C.D. JAVALI-NUEVO CLUB AT THE MATCH THAT HAD TO TAKE PLACE THE PAST DAY 08/06/2014, AGAINST CLUB E.F. VISTALEGRE LOS MATEOS,
DECIDES: AND DECIDE THE MATCH LOST TO THE C.D. JAVALI-NUEVO, ALSO, THREE POINTS DEDUCTED IN THEIR CLASSIFICATION, DECLARING WINNER E.F. VISTALEGRE LOS MATEOS, BY THE SCORE OF THREE GOALS TO ZERO. (ART.98)"
The three points deduction means they need a point from this weekend's game to take the title.

No problem.....Javali Nuevo 8-1 Los Alcazares.
So they claim the title with Vistalegre-Los Mateos in second place. A 2-2 draw between Pliego and Fortuna, meant Fortuna held on to third. But Pliego, in fourth, will get promotion as a result of UCAM-Murcia's move from Tercera to 2B.
So, next year's Primera will look like this:
Relegated from the Preferente:
Alcantarilla-Thader
(Unless the Federation decide to allow Ciudad de Cieza and UCAM-Guadalupe - who didn't complete the season - to re-emerge.)
Staying in the Primera:
AD Alquerias Nuestro Abaran CF Beniajan CF Atl. Cabezo de Torres CD Juvenia CD Esparragal La Hoya Lorca CF 'B' Mazarron FC CD Alberca EMF Fuente Alamo CD Lumbreras
Promoted from the Segunda:
CD Javali-Nuevo EF Vistalegre - Los Mateos Fortuna AD Pliego
Waiting in the wings in the Segunda:
5th...EF Los Alcazares 6th...Atl. Lorqui
But, as we've seen before, there will probably be water to go under the Segura bridge before the final list is confirmed.

Remember the awful state of SOHO-Medi's unfinished stadium? Seems the Federation may have been having second thoughts about them getting the extra place into the Preferente (with UCAM-Murcia going into 2B). But the FFRM have, today, actually confirmed that they can go up. I guess S-M will need to find some money from somewhere to meet some sort of commitment.
As for the other teams above, the following have had doubts cast on them being around:
Atl. Cabezo de Torres CD Alberca EMF Fuente Alamo EF Vistalegre-Los Mateos
And it IS said that Guadalupe and Ciudad de Cieza will NOT rise from the ashes.
Keep watching......................

NEWS FOR THE 2014-15 SEASON This is what we know so far. THE TEAM The club has been registered for the upcoming season with the Murcian football federation with all the financial bonds being lodged with them. The squad is being assembled taking into consideration the strengths and weaknesses of last season, these have been addressed by Jose and Javi will continue and the team coach. Areas such as the problematic goal keeper and central defence have be tackled with top quality players being recruited. The mid field and strike force have been strengthened. Many of last seasons squad will be on show for the upcoming season plus a number of returning players who were sorely missed over recent years. You will be surprised when I confirm the names at a later date. PRE SEASONAll these dates/opposition are provisional at the moment. Jose has already sorted out 3 pre season games and at the moment these are 4th August. Pre season training commences 9 August. A 3 team competition between Mazarron FC, Juvenia, Miranda. To be played in Miranda 13 August. Mazarron FC v Lumbreras Home game. 4 September. Mazarron FC v La Minerva As I said watch the forum for updates/amendments Further games are being arranged. THE PITCHRegarding the pitch, Hmmm. Jose thought that this was all sorted and everything was in place ready for the new season, but this is Spain. The original tendering process was completed and the order for the new pitches at Bala Azul and Mazarron FC was placed. But due to a technicality the tendering process had to be revisited and new tenders were called for. This has been concluded and the order for the work has again been placed but obviously there will now be a delay. So Mazarron FC will continue to play on grass until work commences in late 2014 at which time a new artificial pitch will be laid. The reasons for the delay has nothing to do with Mazaron FC but due to the tendering process, the council and the tendering companies. Jose is as frustrated as you will be. More details about the new season will be released as and when I get them.

Interesting times................
Trecera.com are reporting that the promotion places from Primera to Preferente will be different in 2014/15! Instead of it just being the top three that go up, they are saying it will now be the top two plus the winner of play-offs between positions 3 and 6. I'll try to find out the details and post a translation.
Also, they say that Bala Azul have signed MESSI!!!! He's moving from Alhama. And it looks like old friend Mounir is leaving.
EDIT: Although I cannot find this on the official FFRM website, here's the translation of the Trecera.com article:
PRIMERA AUTONOMICA COMPETITION SYSTEM
1. the two first clubs classified will ascend directly to Autonomica Preferente and the champion will be awarded in addition to the Cup that credits that condition.
The above paragraph will not apply in the case of clubs that have the status of subsidiary or dependent, in which case it will be the turn, and shall be responsible for the ascent, of the next or following club.
2. the classified clubs 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th will play a tournament to determine which of them shall obtain the third ascent to the higher category, being in this case also apply the provision contained in paragraph 1 second paragraph already invoked, corresponding to the turn to the next or following classified.
This tournament will take place in the following way:
a. the four participating clubs are automatically matched the 3rd with the 6th and the 4th with the 5th.
Both pairs will play a first round match, over two legs, the first leg in the sports facilities of which occupied sixth and fifth places.
b. the winners will participate in a second round also over two legs, the first leg held in the pitch of which of the two has occupied a place lower in the final ranking.
The winner of this elimination will rise to the top category, thus completing the three ascents of the preferential regional.
c. the competitions by qualifying over two legs shall apply the following provisions:
You will be declared winner the team that would have obtained the better goal difference, computing is achieved from those received in each of the two meetings.
If the number in which the difference is realized is the same, the winning Club is that had scored more goals in the field of the adversary. (The 'away goals' rule.)
Not realizing the circumstance that determine the application of the paragraph which precedes, held after the return match, and after a break of five minutes, extra time of thirty minutes, in two parts of fifteen, without solution of continuity, with previous draw for choice of field, in the well understood that shall apply rule relating to a possible tie to goalsmarked in the course of this extra time, elucidate in favor of the visiting team.
In the event of a tie after the goalless extra time, this will not be solved by the system of penalty kicks, but that he will be declared winner of the elimination in question the team that at the end of the regular League would have obtained the better position in the final ranking.
They also have an identical posting with the same rules for the Preferente to Tercera promotions.
(Ps....anyone know what 'CUP' they are referring to in the first paragraph?)

A Spanish report today that Santomera have dropped out of next season's Preferente, meaning that Alquerias will get promotion from the Primera.
Also question marks over Beniel which would mean Abaran also getting promotion.

Chaos is starting to reign already! Last season, C.D. Javali-Nuevo should have been in our division having been in the Segunda promotion places at the end of 2012/13. But they decided not to come to the parties! Would you believe they seem to have done it again - after winning the Segunda.
So, as well as (probably) Los Alcazares and Lorqui coming up for the two above, it looks like there'll be room for one more! And the name being mentioned is SFC Minerva, who finished a lowly ninth in the Segunda. Don't ask me what happened to those in between (Espinado and Los Garres)!
Keep watching......
(ps....now I see why there's a pre-season game against Minerva!)

The Spanish are saying that Espinado will be joining us in the Primera - I guess they and Los Garres are actually to replace Alquerias and Abaran! Los Alcazares and Lorqui presumably replaced the two Preferente teams that didn't complete the past season (Cieza and Guadalupe) and so didn't get relegated into the Primera!
So, at the moment, next year looks like this (for the next day or so anyway!):
Relegated from the Preferente:
Alcantarilla-Thader
Staying in the Primera:
Beniajan CF Atl. Cabezo de Torres CD Juvenia CD Esparragal La Hoya Lorca CF 'B' Mazarron FC CD Alberca EMF Fuente Alamo CD Lumbreras
Promoted from the Segunda:
EF Vistalegre - Los Mateos Fortuna AD Pliego EF Los Alcazares Atl. Lorqui Espinado Atl. UD Los Garres SFC Minerva

The usual undignified scramble by the Federation to get teams into the various leagues continues!
As a reminder, with 2 absentees from the Preferente relegations, two other teams dropping out of the Preferente, and the promotion of UCAM-Murcia into 2B, there were at least EIGHT teams to come up from the Segunda.
I mentioned earlier a rumour that Cabezo de Torres would not continue next season - so it turns out. That makes for NINE promotions.
As we speak, the Spanish are saying the Federation have had to drop down to the 13th team from last season's Segunda to fill the vacancies. That 13th team was Sporting Mazarrón Camposol!!!
Oh, by the way, they are still only listing 17 teams - so there is still water to go under the Segura Bridge.
