Les it's SFC Minerva from Alumbres who finished 9th in Segunda last season. They have a Facebook page with photos of their ground etc Ah, you mean the page that says..... "If you know Sfc, send her a message".....when I click on it? Facebook is too clever by half except it's the intelligent half that's missing! It worries too much about tracking the readers - knows I'm male and speak English - and not enough about the content of its pages - the fact SFC Minerva - is an inanimate object.

Just had this in from Jose re the MAZARRON FC v LA SALLE MINERA game:
"El partido ha sido suspendido porque la liga comienza el dia 7 de septiembre y hay pocos dias de diferencia."
So it looks like that game is also cancelled due to the earlier than thought start of our season.
I will see him at the Totana game to get the latest picture regarding any more pre season games and will let you know.

MAZARRON FC v TOTANA. (pre season game) This was a game, literally, of two halves. The first half against an excellent Totana side was spoiled early on by a decision by the lone official. Ismael, who had been on the end of a number of fierce tackles, voiced his opinions to the ref that he was not getting enough protection from the Totana players. After complaining a number of times he was shown a straight red card and Mazarron were down to ten men. Mazarron were finding it hard going with a full compliment of players but after going down to 10 players I'm afraid Totana gave the home side a bit of a footballing lesson and rattled in 4 goal without reply. During the half time break it was decided between the teams that the second half would be played with both sides made up to full compliment of players. This made all the difference with the Mazarron lads more than holding their own against the side from a higher division. But Mazarron still went behind to what would be the only serious attack on the Mazarron goal by Totana with a well taken shot beating young Rubens who had stepped into the goalkeeping position at half time replacing second string 'keeper' Carrasco. Rubens was then replaced by Conejo (Rabbit) our number one choice keeper who remained unbeaten for the rest of the second half. Mazarron then went onto hit the post twice, the bar once, had a penalty saved and had three chances cleared off the goal line, but it wasn't to be and the second half ended with a 0-1 loss. But as Jose said at the end, 'poco a poco', 'little by little' In the second half Mazarron fielded a returning player in the shape of Santi who had an immediate impact and he is looking to rejoin Mazarron full time.

Hopefully I will have the squad list and shirt numbers on Thursday now that Jose's has returned from Zaragoza.
21 players at training tonight. The squad size will be 18 so big decisions will be made following a practice game against our juveniles on Tuesday night. Players need to be registered in time for Sunday's game.
It was agreed at the council today, following a request from the club president, that the flood lights needed to be repaired and upgraded at the ground, again another improvement to the facilities at the municipal stadium by Jose.
The club will have TWO shirt sponsors next season with the Mazarron town hall joining Clinica Rover in supporting Mazarron FC.

FINAL PRE SEASON GAME
An important game took place tonight, Tuesday 2nd September, at the sports complex.
It started at 8pm and was between our senior and juvenile teams.
Result 2-2
Following the game the big decision as to whom of the senior 24 players will be offered contract for the upcoming season. (see posting above)
The squad size will be 18 so they were playing for their futures.
With so many teams folding over the summer it is a case of players chasing teams this year so Jose and Javi can be a bit more choosey as to whom to select.

One new player last night really impressed me.
His name is Juan Jose and has come to us from Totana.
For such a big lad he is a highly mobile central defender, clears up well at the back, broke attacks down and distributed the ball well.
I hope that he stays, as he will be an asset and could fill that 'Diego/Sam' position.

Hmmmm.....very interesting!
On Sunday, La Hoya beat Sporting Mazarron 4-0.
But the Federation have now awarded the game to Sporting by the customary 3-0 score when there is an infraction. According to the Fed website, it looks like La Hoya fielded an ineligible player!

Must have been a good game at Blanca last weekend........
Blanca vs La Hoya B
ADRIAN MOLINA PALAZON (tarjeta) DARIO MOLINA AYALA (tarjeta) DIEGO CANO TURPIN (tarjeta) (tarjeta) FRANCISCO JESUS SORIANO SANCHEZ (tarjeta) ISMAEL GARCIA AYALA (tarjeta) (tarjeta) JESUS EGEA RODRIGUEZ (tarjeta) (tarjeta) MARCO MOLINA MOLINA (tarjeta) ROQUE DAVID CANO MIÑANO (tarjeta)
And that was just cards for the Blanca team! La Hoya picked up a couple too.
So, Blanca ended up with just 8 players on the pitch. Not surprisingly......they lost!
