Just in from Jose.
For whatever reason Churra have pulled out of tonight's pre season game against Mazarron FC.
Very disappointing but it's beyond our control.
Instead there will be a full training session on our home pitch.
Together with Gerrard I will be meeting Jose tonight to get an update and details of future friendlies and info from the club.

THURSDAY 13th AUGUST
Following the very very late withdraw of the Churra team from the arranged preseason game last night the new coach and his team carried out an extensive and very professional training session on our home ground. I reckon that the preperation and pace of the training is the best that I have ever seen at the club.
There were 26 outfield players being put through their paces and four goalkeepers who were being separately coached by Carrasco with assistance from a new member of the coaching staff.
At this time it is the intention of the management of Mazarron FC to have a squad of 18 players.
In a meeting with Jose he highlighted the extra cost of officials and registering players, up by a third, at this higher level of the football ladder and with the financial constraints of the councils allocation of grants to local sporting teams next season will be a tough on the teams budget.
Season tickets are now available from Gerard at the excellent price of €40 which is great value for money. Please support the team by purchasing a season ticket and get the season off to a great start.

The season tickets for next seasons games in the Preferente are now available from either myself or Gerard.
I will have them with me and Gerard will have the season tickets for sale on Thursdays at the meetings and at the Luncheon club on the 25th if anyone would like one.
They are still priced at only 40€ making the cost of each of the 17 home games just €2.35. Gate prices remain at €4
The best way to support Mazarron FC is by purchasing a season ticket and what a bargain you'll be getting.

FINAL SCORE
MAZARRON FC 5 CHURRA 0
Churra brought two complete sides tonight combining their first and second teams and were played off the park.
Meanwhile Mazarron had 26 players attempting to force their way into the final squad.
An excellent run out and a deserved win over a side containing many players from their Tercera side.
As well as the Cartagena contingent of players from last season who have been allowed to move onto other teams Mazarron FC have decided to let Dani, last seasons left back, to leave. It appears that he will be wearing the blue of Bala Azul next season.
Dani has served Mazarron well over the last few years coming up from the juveniles before becoming a regular in our first team last season, we wish him well.

Today's news is that we may have another local Derby in the offing. Totana may not get the promotion up to Tercera. The Spanish blog has it going to Churra! i.e. Pulpileño get the promotion due to winning the playoffs and the next highest placed team in the regular season (Churra) get to benefit from Jumilla getting into Segunda B. Keep watching.....confirmation will come eventually. It's taken a long time, but we've finally got the official view from the Federation on the promotions/play-offs shambles from the end of last season! So now you know! We just need them now to confirm what will happen to the Preferente at the end of this season to get the Tercera up to 20 teams.

ALCANTARILLA 0 MAZARRON FC 2 On a very warm summer night Mazarron FC had on trial 20 players on the plastic surface pitch of Alcantarilla and they proceeded to play the home side off it. I'm still trying to get a grip of the names of the new players and their positions but what I do know from pre game warm up to the final whistle this side is well drilled team who play the ball from the back, no long ball game here, through a compact mid field to either one of the two wide men or striker/strikers deployed. The first goal came a few minutes into the second half with a brilliant ball to the right wing who cut into the box and drilled the ball home. I counted a string of 15 passes in one move which ended with the ball just slipping past the post, very simple football playing the easy ball to players who had found space for their team mates, very pleasing on the eye. The second goal was a cheeky dink over the keepers head, again from the right hand side. From the high stands and looking across the running track surrounding the pitch the gathered supporters thought the ball went into the side netting that was until the keeper picked the ball out of the back of the net. Alcantarilla had a total of four shot during the game, none on target and although they were no soft touch it was a case of the best team won.

FINAL SCORE
MAZARRON FC 1 v AD VISTALEGRE 1
AD VISTALEGRE win 4-3 on penalties,
Despite both of Mazarrons strikers missing through work commitments this was a game that the home side completely controlled but somehow contrived to lose, who said that it was a "funny old game?"
Mazarron had 20 players either on the pitch or the bench for this final pre season game with a blend of last seasons team and a host of new players. AD Vistaleges tactics were obvious from the kickoff, "park the bus across the defence and midfield" but despite this Mazarron had chance after chance which went begging.
We hit the bar twice with one bouncing down onto the line and into the welcoming arms of the visiting keeper. Two other clear cut chances, cleared off the line, came and went. Then came the sucker punch, almost the last kick of the first half saw the visiting keeper punt the ball long upfield in an attempt to relieve the pressure of another Mazarron attack, but this long ball bounced once over the heads of the home teams last defender and was met by a Vistalegre lone striker who rounded the stranded Mazarron keeper who was on "walkabout" way outside of his area and he slotted it home.
Why oh why do these Spanish keepers wander so far out of their area? Can't remember Shilton doing it.
The game only had time to restart before the whistle was blown.
HALF TIME MAZARRON FC 0 VISTALEGRE 1
Mazarron introduced 6 new players after half time with the result that the side took time to settle, gather themselves for the second half and proceeded to ensure that all the subs had "game time" with a rolling sequence of replacements.
And it was a repeat of the first 45 minutes with Vistalegre hanging on from attack after attack by Mazarron.
Half way through the second period, Juanma a lad easy recognised with his receding hair line working on the left side of midfield, slip past two defenders and bore down on goal with only the keeper to beat when he was synically hacked down from behind, penalty. Up steps a new player wearing number 8 and proceeded to blast the ball over the bar! You will hear more of him later.
Munir was introduced to the game and along side young Rollon a new sence of urgency was introduced with Vistalegre now firmly pinned in the own half.
But it was Rollon who was involved in the next incident when he was hacked to the ground for no good reason, Rollon has a short fuse and retaliated, their player was booked, Rollon was sent off.
With time running out and From another series of strikes on the besieged Vistalegre goal, Mazarron gain a corners and through a melee of players the ball was eventually forced home for a deserved equaliser.
The final whistle was blown a few moments later. So we go to penalties.
FULL TIME MAZZARON FC 1 VISTALEGRE 1
They miss one then Munir hits the bar, so it's down to the last kicks of the 5 penalties from each side. They scored and up steps our previous penalty taker, number 8. Who repeats his previous attempt and blast high over the bar.
Vistalegre win 3-4 on penalties.
Summary.
An entertaining game but very frustrating. I hope that when the season kicks off next Sunday against Sangonera that Mazarron has found its cutting edge up front, if they do this looks like a side which has taken a step up from last year.
