The final will be Sevilla vs Barcelona somewhere, sometime in May. They don't like keeping the final in Madrid, so it could be back here at the Mestalla in Valencia. Wrong on both counts! It will be Saturday 21st April at Atléti's new Estadio Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid. KO time still to be confirmed.

Totana's game-in-hand at Abanilla will be played tomorrow (Sunday 1st). KO will be at 6 p.m.
The result will be posted here.
If you didn't get to see how bad the Abanilla ground is when we visited earlier in the season (and you don't fancy Chelsea vs Spurs!), why not take a leisurely hour's drive up country to cheer on the locals to victory and keep Totana one point behind us in the league.
Abanilla will need all the help they can get as they are in the relegation mire. On the other hand, they need the points so might just put up some sort of resistance!
GPS for the Abanilla ground is on the Mazarronfc.es website.

Match report by Alison Golding.....
MATCH REPORT – SUNDAY 18TH MARCH 2018 MAZARRON FC 3 – ALCANTARILLA FC 0 Arriving at the home ground for this weeks match it was good to see that it would be played on a (mainly) green pitch as the recent rain had spurred the grass into growing again but I think the expression “playing field” would have been a better one as it resembled the local recreation park more than a quality football pitch. Mazarron started the game and Alcantarilla had the first opportunity as Mazarron failed to clear a corner and the ball bobbled around the box before being shot wide. As the teams settled into the game Mazarron certainly had the upper hand and it only took 11 minutes for them to show their superior class. A long free kick reached just outside the box where Mazarron were fouled, resulting in a free kick just outside the box. Alfonso Canovas (no 8) stepped up to take the shot and with “Beckham like” accuracy struck the ball into the corner of the net – GOAL for Mazarron. Mazarron continued to have the better of the play as the ball remained in the Alcantarilla half for much of the half. Any chances Alcantarilla had were easily dealt with by the Mazarron defence who were reinforced by the return of Raso (no 4), one of the supporters favourites. With just ten minutes of the first half to play Dani Morales (no 10) broke from the pack and ran with the ball up the pitch. The keeper came forward but his miss timed tackle left Dani with the ball and an open goal, he couldn't miss – GOAL 2 for Mazarron. Unable to beat the Mazarron defence Alcantarilla tried shooting from distance but their shots were no threat for the Mazarron goalkeeper, Juan Pedro (no 1) The first half ended 2 – 0. Alcantarilla kicked off the second half, with their half time talk ringing in their ears, they upped the pace and tried a series of dummies to take control of the ball, but Mazarron were holding firm and not being fooled that easily. Salva (no 7) made an excellent run up the wing fighting off several Alcantarilla players but unfortunately failed to find a finish. Alcantarilla were definitely more organised now than they had been in the first half but any chances they had resulted in weak soft finishes, no problem for Mazarron. With the uneven playing surface and the ball bouncing around like in a game of bagatelle, it became more of a game of “head ball” than football, but this was to neither teams advantage. With pointless midfield play Mazarron were desperate for a breakthrough to secure the three points. It took till the 84th minute for Mazarron to make that break as Dani (no 10) repeated his first goal and out played the Alcantarilla keeper again to shoot into an open net for the second time. In the main the refereeing had been better than the standard we have unfortunately become accustom to but a late yellow card for Raso (no 4) for hand ball when the ball had clearly hit his chest only makes me think he had been watching the film “Alien” and thought a hand had protruded from his stomach! The game ended 3 - 0 Mazarron made two substitutions in the second half, Alcantarilla made five substitutions. Mazarron received three yellow cards. Alcantarilla received just one yellow card. Man of the match voted for by Los Amigos de Mazarron FC was Raso– number 4. Today's three points puts Mazarron up one place in the table to fifth with the same points (49) as Abaran in fourth and only one point below Algar and Totana in second and third on 50 points. There is still all to play for.

Match report by Alison Golding....
MATCH REPORT – SUNDAY 25TH MARCH 2018 CF MOLINA 2 - MAZARRON FC 5 As the end of the season draws closer there is still all to play for to reach second in the league for an automatic promotion position. With Molina being just two places behind us in the league and with home advantage it looked like today's match could be a close game. Mazarron got the first half underway and from the first minute had the upper hand and it only took five minutes to prove it. From a free kick taken by Alfonso (no 8) the ball reached Raso (no 4). He struck it wildly and the ball went high, most people, players and supporters alike, thought the ball would fall over the back of the net, but no, it dropped just in front of the goal and Nacho (no 5) was there to easily slip it into the net – GOAL one for Mazarron. Play restarted and just three minutes later Raso (no 4) showed great play taking the ball up the line, he crossed quickly into the box, the keeper came but failed to make the save and the ball bounced to find Dani Morales (no 10), who found himself with an open goal and he slotted it home GOAL two for Mazarron. Less than ten minutes into the game Mazarron were flying high but Molina broke up the pitch and into the box and we could all see what was about to happen as Mazarron continued to tackle the forward player. He hit the deck – penalty for Molina. Molina stepped up to take the penalty and we could see our two goal cushion diminishing. Luckily they struck the ball badly and Juan Pedro (no 1) the Mazarron keeper punched the ball away to safety. Two goal cushion maintained. Still on a high Mazarron continued to keep control of the game Raul Torrano (no 2) showed some good speed and skill. Mazarron missed a chance as Gato (no 3) passed the ball across the goal mouth but no one was there to just tap it home. Molina improved after they made their first substitution bringing on number 15, by far their best player and left us wondering why he was not in their starting eleven. The whole game was being played at a fast pace, no hold ups with the referee blowing his whistle unnecessarily and free kicks being taken quickly. Molina had their chances but just could not find a finish. Dani (no 10) made an excellent run for Mazarron and then with just a short pass to Salvi (no 11) the ball was in the net again – GOAL three for Mazarron. Maybe now with a three goal lead Mazarron may have just taken their foot off the gas a little but it was a goalkeeping howler that saw their lead reduced back to two. Molina pushed forward and took their shot, the ball bounced badly and as the Mazarron keeper tried to gather it, it slipped from his grip and Molina were there to slot it into the net. Still two goals in the lead, the first half ended 1 – 3 . Molina started the second half to a fast start and immediately showed more speed and skill than they had in the first half. They broke up the field and into the box and, with what was basically a “defending mess” the ball rolled free, a real chance for Molina, but they struck the ball just over the net, a real let off for Mazarron. Mazarron upped their game realising they did not have the points in the bag just yet and a throw in from Raul (no 2) was headed on, only just over the target. Jose Da (no 14), a substitution at half time, stepped up to take a free kick, central but 30 yards out. With a clean shot over every other player, including the keeper, the ball was in the net again. GOAL four for Mazarron. Mazarron should have scored again as Dani (no 10) ran all the way controlling the ball with great skill and passed successfully to Chino (no 7) in the box. It should have been easy to slot the ball home but somehow he missed the target. Jose Da (no 14) tried another long free kick but this time just slightly too high and the ball landed on the top of the net. Still pushing for that next goal Chino (no 7) made a great run. He passed to Mauro Fernandez (no 9) and GOAL five for Mazarron. With 15 minutes left the pace of the game became much slower with both teams starting to make mistakes and the play was uninspiring. We have seen this so many times before causing Mazarron to lose points throughout the season but today with a four goal lead we hoped this would not be the case. Just five minutes to go and Molina broke forward into the box, the ball bounced and the Mazarron keeper failed to react – goal for Molina. Luckily too little too late and the game ended 2 - 5 Mazarron made four substitutions. Molina made three substitutions. Mazarron received two yellow cards. Molina received just one yellow card. Man of the match voted for by Los Amigos de Mazarron FC was Chino– number 7. Today's three points puts Mazarron up one more place in the table to fourth, still only one point below Algar in second.

SPAIN VS ARGENTINA
What a great game! 6-1 to Spain but competitive from the first to last minutes.
What more could you expect with Argentina on the field of Diego Simeone in Madrid?
If it weren't a 'friendly' there would have been a handful of tarjetas rojas.
A shame that Messi and Aguero didn't get a run out.
Hat trick for Isco and an assist for de Gea.
