NEXT HOME GAME (Only six games remaining)
PREFERENTE AUTONOMICA UNICO - game 29
Kickoff 5.30pm (17.30) Sunday 08/04/2018
To be played at the ESTADIO MUNICIPAL DE MAZARRON
MAZARRON F.C. V C.D. MARVIMUNDO PLUS ULTRA
Both sides come this game on the back of good wins and with both teams vying for an automatic promotion place or at least a spot amongst the four playoff sides it is another case of the classic ‘six pointer’ with the loser losing ground on their opponents.
Last weekend Mazarrón traveled to Molina and came away with a magnificent 2-5 win. Any win away from home is good but a 2-5 is a fair return in anyone’s book. The goals were shared around the team and with only two bookings the lads should be proud of themselves.
Meanwhile Plus Ultra were at home to Bullense and recorded a 2-0 home win against a side with nothing to play for. It is to be noted that both Plus Ultras goals came in the second half when they were playing against ten men and the second goal coming in the final minute.
WHAT HAPPENED THE LAST TIME WE PLAYED?
CD PLUS ULTRA 1 - MAZARRÓN FC 0 (19.11.2017)
MAZARRÓN FC lost ground in the promotion race with a 1-0 defeat away to rivals CD Plus Ultra.
The home team served notice of their attacking intentions with two quick breaks in the opening three minutes but both saw the offside flag being raised, On seven minutes an excellent through ball saw Basi breaking clear but he stumbled in the act of shooting and the chance was lost.
Plus Ultra took the lead after 14 minutes when Alejandro's free kick on the left was missed by the entire MAZARRÓN defence and Juan Pedro raced in at the far post to fire home. MAZARRÓN were stunned into action and a short corner between Dani and Alfonso saw Javi Torrano's near post header rebound off the cross bar to safety. Four minutes later Basi shot into the side netting from an acute angle following Gato's pass.
On 35 minutes Boudia found Basi who again raced clear only to see his powerful drive tipped round the post by the home keeper. Just before the half time interval, Alfonso's cross was headed wide by Basi at the far post.
MAZARRÓN began the second half with a free kick from Alfonso which was turned aside by the Plus Ultra keeper for a corner. On 55 minutes MAZARRÓN appealed in vain for a penalty after an apparent handball but they were struggling to stamp much impression on the game, giving the ball away too easily in midfield.
On 61 minutes Pablo was called into action to make a save for the first time as Plus Ultra broke clear and six minutes later an overhead attempt went well over the bar. MAZARRÓN almost equalised after 72 minutes with the best move of the game. Substitute Andreo and Alfonso combined well to set up Basi whose shot was destined for the top corner of the net before the home keeper dived spectacularly to turn the ball round the post.
Basi had another half chance when he broke from the halfway line in the 80th minute but he was tackled in the act of shooting and the keeper saved easily.
Despite being second to the ball on too many occasions and being caught in possession far too often, all the good chances fell to MAZARRÓN who should have taken something from the game. Substitute Monjas Lopez received his marching orders just before full time after two yellow cards and Boudia was booked, for the fifth time this season, along with Raso and Juan Andreo
