Saturday 17th January (1891)
Clapton FC welcome Nottm. Forest to their strangely called" "spotted dog" ground in the first round of the FA cup.
And 90 minutes later they were glad to see the back of them as the final score was 0-14 to Nottm. Forest

Top flight Manchester City are destroyed in the FA cup 4-1 by second division Nottingham Forest, or should that be by a certain Duncan McKenzie after he set up Ian Bowyer for the first goal, scored the second himself with an audacious overhead scissor-kick. This was followed by a an attack by the young man beating 4 players before teeing up Bowyer again, with George Lydall scoring the final goal. Duncan McKenzie, what a guy.

Tuesday 5th February 1980
Nottingham Forest get their hands on their second piece of European silverware by defeating Spanish giants Barcelona over two legs.
Forest carried forward a 1-0 lead from the first leg at the City ground but Barcelona brought it all level when Carlos Roberto scored from the penalty spot but Forest regained the lead just before half time with a stunning goal from KENNY BURNS.
A second half of stalwart defending by Forest denied the Barcelona attacking onslaught.
Final score over two legs was Nottingham Forest 2 Barcelona 1
Team, Shilton, Anderson, Gray, McGovern, Lloyd, Burns, Francis (O'Neill), Stan Bowles, Birtles, Charlie George, Robertson.
Friday 5th February 1988
The Welsh FA offer their national managers job to Brian Clough, who is keen on the job but the Forest board refuse him permission to take it, even on a part time basis. He was famously turned down by England, the best manager England never had, and he was also refused permission to take on the same role with the Irish FA.

Trevor Francis is purchased by Nottingham Forest for £975,000 but with taxes and other fees the actual amount paid was £1,180,000 so becoming the first £1million footballer in history. His instructions from Sir Brian Clough were simple, "Young man, don't worry about what to do, just give the ball to john Robertson and he'll do the rest. He's a better footballer than you"
Thursday 9th February 1989
Sir Brian Clough was fined £5,000 and also received a touch line ban for the rest of the season for punching two supporters who ran onto to his hallowed pitch during the VICTORY against QPR in the Littlewoods cup tie.

Thursday 16th February 2006
Nottingham Forest sack Gary Megson following a 3-0 defeat at Oldham. An extremely unpopular appointment and he didn't help matters much by taking the team into the third level of English football and Forest still remain the only side to win the European cup/champions league to drop into the third tier of their respective national league.
When Megson left Forest hovered just 4 points above the 1st division relegation zone, one of the darkest days in the history of Nottingham Forest. Thank you Mr Megson.

As expected Brian Clough makes the double signing of John McGovern and John O'Hare from their "dammed" Leeds 'dirty' United nightmare to return them back under his wing at the City Ground with both the players having been frozen out at Elland Road since the end of Brian's brief rein there. Both went on to make major contributions to Forests 'glory years'
