SATURDAY 30th MARCH 1991 Promising young keeper Mike Harby makes his debut for Forest against Sunderland at home. He let's in three goals. Next two games he lets in 6 against Wolves and a further 6 against Liverpool. He never plays for Forest again. His record still stands as the most unsuccessful Forest goal keeper has ever had with a record of: Played 3 goals conceded 15. What ever happened to Mike Harby?

APRIL FOOLS DAY
1975 And todays fools were Sheffield Wednesday who after visiting the city ground and losing 1-0, Sir Brian Howard Clough's second win as manager of Forest his first was 3 months before, Wednesday are relegated to the third tier of English for the first time in their history. A george Lyall penalty seals their fate. 1995
And todays fools were Sheffield Wednesday in a premiership clash at Hillsborough when they were rolled over by Forest 1-7. Two goals by Stan Collymore, the others scored by Stuart Pearce, Ian Woan, two from Bryan Roy and Lars Bohinen. This scoreline stood as the highest away victory in the premiership for two years until Manchester United visited the City ground with that result finishing 1-8.

SATURDAY 8th APRIL 1967 (and I was there to see it)
FA cup quarter final at the City ground between Nottingham Forest and Everton. Forest were missing Joe Baker, injured after 2 minutes. Just after half time Everton take the lead but Forest soon level when Andy Rankin couldn't hold a Frank Wignall's shot and Ian Storey-Moore slotted the ball home. With their next attack Forest take the lead with Storey-Moore scoring with a screamer. Forest well on top by this stage but against the run of play Jimmy Husband scored his second with just 12 minutes left on the clock. Then came the incredible final minute, the ball fell to Storey-Moore in the penalty area, his bullet shot hit Ray Wilson and came back out to Storey-Moore who hit a fierce drive straight back in but it hit Rankin and ballooned out but some how it came straight back to Storey-Moore heading it this time only for it to hit the crossbar, but yet again it fell straight to Storey-Moore and this time the header finished in the back of the the net. Final score Nottingham Forest 3 Everton 2. The finest game of football I have ever seen and often relive it on 'youtube' SATURDAY 8th APRIL 2000 John Terry makes his debut for Forest against Charlton. The 19 year old signs on loan to gain first team match experience. He stays with Forest until the end of the season. Now, what ever happened to John Terry??

SATURDAY 9th APRIL 1898 (and I wasn't there) Nottingham Forest play their very last game at the 'Town Ground' winning 3-1 against Bury. Forest having raised £3000 were able to move across the Trent for the 1898/99 season to the newly built 'City Ground' where they still play today. The ground was name the 'City Ground' in recognition of Nottingham being elevated to city status in 1897 even though the ground is positioned outside of the city boundary.

SATURDAY 16th APRIL 1898
History in the making as Nottingham Forest beat Derby County 2-1 in the FA cup final at Crystal Palace to get their hands on their first bit of silverware.
Forest were famously pictured with the cup wearing the Derby County strip! The photographer thought as the pictures were in black and white that Derby's white shirts and black shorts would come out better than Forest's red shirts and blue shorts (a la Mazarron FC)

SATURDAY 21st APRIL 1909 Nottingham Forest beat Leicester Fosse 12-0. An investigation was launched and the Leicester keeper, Horace Bailey (why don't players have names like that anymore?) admitted that the whole team had spent the TWO previous days celebrating the marriage of team member Billy Turner. The result was allowed to stand, unlike many of the Leicester players I bet.
Nottingham Forest scorers: Grenville Morris, Alf Spouncer, Bill Hooper, 'Knocker' West and Edwin Hughes.

SATURDAY 22nd APRIL 1978 Nottingham Forest are crowned the first division (now premier league) champions for the first time in their history with a 0-0 draw against Coventry City with 4 games to spare. They would eventually finish 7 points clear of Liverpool having lost only 3 games and conceding 24 goals all season. Peter Taylor said " When we signed Peter Shilton, the best goal keeper in the world, I knew we had a great chance to win the tittle" and he was so right.

29th May 1985. A sad day for football Fifa president Sepp Blatter on Twitter: "On May 29 1985, 39 football fans lost their lives at Heysel. My thoughts today are with all those who lost loved ones." Thirty-nine Italian and Belgian fans died in the Heysel disaster, with hundreds more injured, after violence ahead of the 1985 European Cup final between Liverpool and Juventus. English clubs were later banned from playing in European competition for five years.
