PROBLEMS AT THE FLAT PACK STADIUM?
Derby County could be subjected to severe punishment following a watershed moment for the Championship yesterday.
Birmingham City became the first club to be punished for breaking the EFL's profit and sustainability rules, landing a nine-point deduction in the process, although they did escape a fine and transfer embargo.
The Blues fell from 13th to 18th in the Championship and are now not far away from being dragged into the relegation battle despite a strong season under Garry Monk.
The Rams could now become the next team to be subjected to the same sort of treatment, alongside Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday.
Frank Lampard's men are vying for a place in the play-offs with the Reds but have been criticised for over-spending in their effort to get promoted and are reportedly making major monthly losses under owner Mel Morris.

BAD TO WORSE FOR THE TROTTERS
Bolton Wanderers have been told they must fulfil next Sunday’s game at Nottingham Forest.
The Trotters’ players went on strike on Friday after their March salaries were unpaid, and a deadline to make the payments was missed later that evening.
That saw Saturday’s final home game at the University of Bolton Stadium against Brentford cancelled, and the club found guilty of misconduct by the EFL.
The EFL board now say that the Brentford game, the Trotters’ final one of the season must be rearranged, while next Sunday’s visit to the City Ground must also be played as scheduled, even if that means playing players from the club’s academy.

We could be set for the youngest game of professional football, maybe ever!
Brentford have said that they will follow Bolton in fielding an entire team of youth players if Wanderers are forced to.
Bolton warned the EFL that they may have to select a youthful side if last week’s postponed fixture does go ahead, with players refusing to play.
Brentford will do the same if that is how Bolton choose to get around the situation as they have no interest in keeping Thomas Frank’s senior players back after the season ends.

Mind you, they're not a bad bunch of lads at Brentford. They've just won the Middlesex Senior Cup and were narrowly beaten in the London Senior Cup Final.

ADMINISTRATION FOR THE TROTTERS?
The future of Bolton Wanderers has been further clouded ahead of Sunday’s trip to Nottingham Forest.
Wanderers, who will now face the Reds at the City Ground after the PFA stepped in to pay players’ outstanding wages and cut short a strike, have confirmed Laurence Bassini’s protracted takeover is now off, and have ended discussions with the former Watford owner.
With just six days until the stricken Lancashire club are set to visit the High Court and the possibility of administration looming large, the Trotters released a strongly worded statement to attempt to make clear their position.

SOME INTEREST FOR BRENTFORD FANS
Bolton's rearranged Championship game against Brentford will now not take place and the Bees will be given three points on the basis of a 1-0 victory.
The match was scheduled to take place on Saturday, 27 April but was called off 16 hours before kick-off as players refused to play over unpaid wages.
Unable to confirm that adequate safety personnel will be in place, Bolton were given a prohibition notice.
The EFL said Bolton were now guilty of misconduct and will be disciplined.
"Following the decision taken by Bolton Wanderers' Safety Advisory Group (SAG) to issue a prohibition notice preventing Tuesday's rearranged fixture with Brentford from taking place, the EFL will not be asking that the game is played at a future date," an English Football League statement said.
"There is no provision under EFL regulations to direct clubs to play at a later date than four days past the conclusion of the season and, as a result, it has been determined that Brentford will be awarded the three points on the basis of a 1-0 victory.
"As a consequence, Bolton Wanderers is now deemed to be guilty of misconduct by the EFL which will result in disciplinary proceedings against the club being taken at an appropriate time."
BUT
The game against Nottingham Forest on Sunday will go ahead although Bolton players have been asked to make their own way there in their own cars. Hope that there is no traffic problems as it’s a bank holiday 🤣

BOLTON WANDERERS PROBLEMS IN A NUTSHELL
Once an established Premier League team capable of qualifying for European competition, the Wanderers are now flying down the domestic divisions.
Bolton are currently rock-bottom of the Championship on just 28 points, but that is the least of their problems right now.
The club have debts amassing over £40m and are set to enter into administration next week.
They have not been able to pay their staff or players regularly, resulting in the club boycotting their scheduled game against Brentford.
It was thought that the game would be rearranged, but that has sadly not been the case and Brentford have been awarded a 1-0 win by default.
Failing to partake in a fixture scheduled by the EFL is seen as one of the worst offences a club can commit.
As such, Bolton face the prospect of starting next season in League One on -20 points.
Entering into administration brings with it an automatic 12-point deduction and it is thought that at least eight more will be added for abandoning the game against Brentford.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MANCHESTER UNITED FC AND LIVERPOOL FC AND THEIR AMERICAN OWNERS
Liverpool revival under US owners FSG: They have taken no money out, loaned in £110m to rebuild main stand, hired top coach with modern structure, recruited fine players.
Man United under US owners the Glazers: Taken £1bn out and more every year, put no money in, etc etc etc

NON LEAGUE FOOTBALL HERE WE COME
Bolton Wanderers are set to go into administration after the club appeared in the High Court over a £1.2m unpaid tax bill.
The case on Wednesday was adjourned until 22 May to allow the club enough time to appoint an administrator.
Administration would result in Wanderers having a 12-point penalty imposed on them next season.
The club will play in League One next season after they were relegated from the Championship this term.
