And Mazarrón will be without Blas Bazan who somehow managed to pick up two yellows in the last 5 mins.
At least Nacho and Chino found the net today so maybe our goal touch has returned.

If we beat Algar do we get promoted? Or is it like the qualifying stages of the Europa league it drags on like an episode of EastEnders?

Many thanks. Do away goals count double? Could we have extra-time and penalties if all level at the end of the second leg?

Sunday's match report by Alison Golding.....
PLAY-OFFS – SECOND LEG MAZARRON FC 2 - NUSTRO ABARAN CF 0
Being just one goal down from last week's first leg, hopes were high as the largest crowd of the season arrived at our home ground for today's game.
It was good to see the pitch in much better condition than we had seen for much of the main season. Even before kick off the atmosphere was electric with the sounds of horns and cheers ringing out around the ground.
Abaran kicked off the first half but the first five minutes were not good for either team with the ball being off the pitch more than on. Mazarron were first to make a breakthrough as Blas (no 9) took the ball into the box and Made a clever pass to Mauro (no 11). He took his shot but unfortunately it was just wide of the target.
This was closely followed by an Abaran chance that was headed just wide.Just ten minutes played and this was already showing signs of being a better game than last week, played at a fast pace and with more passion than we could have asked for.Mazarron just had to keep their cool and this could be our game.
Both teams were pushing forward at every opportunity and there were chances for both but the defenders were doing their jobs well.Jose Da (no 10) took a shot from the far touchline and it missed its target by a whisker.
Mazarron were getting to the ball better than we had seen for many weeks.Jose Da (no 10) stepped up for a free kick which he delivered well into the box. Abaran tried to clear the ball but Nacho (no 4) was there to finish the job and the ball was in the net – GOAL FOR MAZARRON.
With Abaran's home goal last week we were now back on a level playing field with an aggregate score of 1 – 1. Mazarron kept up the pressure, winning tackles and passing well. They were handed a golden chance when the Abaran keeper kicked the ball out badly and Andreo (no 6) was straight on to it. He struck it back towards the goal but it was just wide of the target.
The first half ended 1 – 0.
Mazarron got the second half underway and immediately broke up the field as Dani (no 8) moved the ball well and passed to Blas (no 9). Taking his time he controlled the ball well and took his shot, just too high.
Abaran had some good play in the box but the Mazarron defence held firm. It was time for Mazarron to get the ball into the net again. From a free kick, very near the corner flag, into the box. The keeper fumbled the ball and it was struck home, but no, no goal given. A push? Off side? I'm not sure. Maybe someone else saw something, obviously the referee did.
Mazarron were in the box again as Dani (no 8) took control of the ball. With an almost open goal he only had to tap it in but his shot went wide. It would have been easier to score! The pressure of the day was getting to both sides as this was not the only mistake made and chance missed.
From a throw in Mazarron kept the play and Chino (no 7) took his chance. A long perfectly timed shot, the ball sailed over the keeper and into the net – GOAL TWO FOR MAZARRON.
With 25 minutes left to play Mazarron had to hold on, a goal now for Abaran and the outcome would be very different. The Mazarron goalkeeper, Antonio (no 13) had his part to play in this. Abaran had a great strike and it was only his finger tips that cleared the ball away.
Abaran were pushing everything forward, with a series of well placed free kicks. Mazarron's defenders and again goalkeeper were pushed to their limits.Play was getting frantic and Abaran were trying every trick they could, many not in the rule book, and the yellow cards started to flow freely.
With just minutes left to play Mazarron could only defend, and despite the game getting very heated, that they did. Making three late substitutions (to kill time?!) they held on and the final whistle was blown.
The game ended 2 – 0.
Mazarron had done it – one step further than last season. Mazarron made three (late) substitutions. Abaran made three substitutions.
Mazarron received five yellow cards, including two for Blas (no 9) who will miss next weeks game.
Abaran received seven yellow cards and one straight red card.
Man of the match was Antonio – number 13 – The Mazarron goalkeeper, for the second week in a row. His two penalty saves last week and many excellent saves this week certainly gave us today's result.
With CD Algar winning today's other play off, Mazarron will face them next week. Starting, I think, with the home leg for Mazarron. Lets keep up the support and cheer them on to another win.
COME ON MAZARRON.
(EDIT............THE GOAL OR NO-GOAL WOULD APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN FOR A LATE OFF-SIDE CALLED BACK BY THE LINESMAN.)

PUTTING THESE GAMES INTO CONTEXT
Make no mistake, Mazarrón FC have a mountain to climb to gain a place in the Tercera division as facing them in this two legged final is a side that have beaten our boys home and away and at their place it was Mazarróns biggest thumping of the season.
At the back end of last year Mazarrón traveled to Algar riding with us high in the table with hopes of automatic promotion on the table. Those hopes came crashing down with a 7-1 hammering by the home side.
In the return leg in March this year Algar again gathered all three points with a 1-2 away win at the municipal stadium although Mazarrón F.C did play a good proportion of the game with 10 men.
So on paper it looks a hopeless task for the boys in red.
BUT
This is the final so anything can happened. CD Algar struggled to overcome Plus Ultra in the semi final only securing a final playoff place with late goals in the second leg. Their form is not as good as it was when we previously played them.
THE KEY
Obviously with all two legged finals it’s so important that the team at home for the first leg, Mazarrón, take a good lead to the second game without conceding and look for an away goal.
THAT’S WHERE YOU COME IN
The magnificent support by the home fans last Sunday was like a extra player on the pitch, the noise and support for Mazarrón was amazing. There is only one home game to go this season and it’s at 7pm (19.00) next Sunday.
The club has done its bit by enabling you to gain entry for just €1 with a pre bought invitation ticket, season ticket holders and under 16 gain entry for free. This shows respect for the loyal supporters of the club and should be congratulated.
So get down to the terraces next weekend and be that 12th member of the team in this final push for promotion.

SANCTIONS AND SUSPENSIONS
As we know Mazarrón will be without Blas Bazan following his double yellow last weekend and C.D. Algar will be missing midfielder Juan Carlos Mendez López for the same reason.
Mazarrón FC have also been punished following someone throwing a corner flag at a Abaran squad member although it’s not clear who threw it ‘like a javelin’ Mazarrón are threatened with a ground closure if there is a reoccurrence. Did anyone see Fatama Whitbread at the match? 🇱🇮

Even the local press don't use the correct club name! We haven't been Mazarrón C.F. for EIGHT years!
