NEXT HOME GAME
PREFERENTE AUTONOMICA UNICO - game 33
Sunday 06/05/2018 kickoff 6pm (18:00)
To be played at the ESTADIO MUNICIPAL DE MAZARRON
MAZARRON F.C. v CLUB OLÍMPICO DE TOTANA
Well, it’s all to play for. The simple maths are if we win the next two games we are promoted it’s as easy as that. But wait, the next two sides that we face are the current top two teams in the league, so not so simple. But first let’s look at what happened last weekend.
Totana first. They played their match a day ahead of the rest of the league at home against a team with nothing to play for, Bullense, so a certain 3 points then? Nope, Bullense arrived, snatched a point and must have laughed all the way home.
So it was the turn of Mazarrón F.C. on Sunday to see if they could close the gap and with other promotion hopefuls slipping up around them our boys took the opportunity to smash in 4 goals at Murcia City. That result, combined with others has really made next Sunday’s encounter a red hot 6 pointer and a game not to miss. A win will put Mazarrón in the pole position for automatic promotion behind CAP Murcia who are promoted as the divisional champions. A draw would somewhat take it out of our hands on the final day and let’s not talk about the third option.
OUR OPPONENTS
Totana finished 20th in the Tercera division last season and were relegated. They suffered an horrendous start to this season scratching around for points but improvements has seen them rise up the table and now sit one place and two points above Mazarrón F.C. and are no longer the ‘soft touch’ they once were in the early days of this campaign.
WHAT HAPPENED THE LAST TIME WE PLAYED
I don’t have a full match report from this game as Totana decided to apply the money grabbing ‘club day’ rule to this game upping the gate prices. The game was correctly boycotted by Los Amigos, the red boys and independent travelers which negated any extra income that Totana expected from the match.
The tactic also blew up in their faces on the pitch with Mazarrón running out 1-2 winners with Dani and a late goal by Joseda sealing the points for the boys in red. Good!
CURRENT STATS
2nd Totana P 32 W 18 D 8 L 6 GF 47 GA 29 Points 62 3rd Mazarrón FC P 33 W 18 D 6 L 8 GF 69 GA 41 Points 60
SUSPENSIONS AND SANCTIONS
Details of any sanctions or suspensions will be made available on Thursday evening by the Murcian federation

Now, will La Dirección have the balls to throw the 'club day' fiasco from the earlier game in their faces and have a FREE day???
Get all the locals in the ground and set the whole place a rocking.
The Municipal has a theoretical capacity of 3,500. What a game that would be!
(Just think how much profit would be made on la cantina!)

WE’VE DONE IT BEFORE AND IT WORKED
A couple of seasons ago Bala Azul made their home game against us a ‘club day’ at which time Mazarrón FC supporters mainly boycotted the fixture.
The president at the time, Jose, took the brave decision to throw the gate open in the reverse fixture at home and made it a free game in Mazarrón.
The club and Los Amigos bar made an absolute killing in bar sales with the bars drunk dry.
I hope the powers to be read this and consider a similar approach for the Totana game. Pack the ground with local supporters, cheering the boys on to victory, make money at the bar, show appreciation to the loyal fans who have followed the team through thick and thin.
And what a brilliant bit of positive PR for the club.
Over to you Mazarrón F.C.

Hopefully Kojaks Cuban cigars are cheap at the tabacs and I will get in with a nod and a wink. Or as I see alot of the Spanish do I will shake the security guards hand and waltz in gratis. If everybody and I mean everybody paid the €4 every home game the club wouldn't need to double its prices. Unbelievably stupid pricing even for Spaniards. Don't follow what others do,step out and be noticed for doing something different and earn some good will and probably alot more money in the coffers. At this stage of the season surely bums on seats are required. Hopefully they'll only get 20 people paying €8 and buying no beer rather than maybe 200 paying only €4 and half of them buying a beer. Don't be surprised if many stayaway this week and in the future.

Well said. I agree 100% with Nick. A very short sighted decision by the club.

And the announcement of early half-price tickets didn't go down well at Totana who thought it was only for Mazarrón supporters!
(Maybe it should have been!)
Anyway, they are planning to buy a bundle at €4 and put on free buses to the game.
We could be in for a bit of agro. Work for the Guardia to sort out I shouldn't wonder!

It sounds like a feisty game.
Mazarrón manager has been sent off and the ref is struggling to control the match. Mazarrón still 0-1 down
