A BIG game for them today at home against Atlético Madrid.
Half-time 0-0.
Thery're not a bad team - Elche.
But they do fade - final 0-2 to Atlético.

They're definitely on the slide. 3 straight defeats now and they are only 4 points off the relegation spot having now played a game more than the others. Should have had a penalty at the death tonight but it wasn't to be....Elche 0-1 Malaga.

Barcelona 4-0 Elche
Hat-trick for Alexis Sanchez.
...and, after a promising start, Elche are now slipping into the relegation battle. Almeria's win in the local Derby against Granada moves them up above Elche.

And the two locals probably swap places again this week. Almeria are at Villarreal tomorrow and will be lucky to get anything from the game. But Elche today picked up the 3 points with a 2-0 win against a poor Rayo Vallecano side that were down to 10 men after 20 minutes and didn't get a single shot on target.

These two just keep on swapping places!
Last week Almeria won and Elche lost.
This week, in the head-to-head, Elche came out victorious 1-0.

Last week Almeria won and Elche drew.
This week, Elche get a 0-0 draw, but Almeria lose.
So Elche go one point up!

After Elche get thumped 3-0 by Real Madrid, Almeria have the chance to go ahead again but blow it with a boring 0-0 against Malaga.
6 teams now on 25-27 points trying to stay out of the relegation zone!

Elche leave it late, but Carlos Gil (who didn't start due to not being fully fit) scores in the 84th minute to ease Elche's relegation worries - a bit!

Could the tables turn again?
Elche lose 3-1 at Espanyol in the early game. So Almeria have the chance to catch up when they play Sevilla at home later on.

.....but they didn't!
And, they lost again this week for the third week in a row leaving them well in the relegation mire.
While Elche scrambled together another point with a goalless draw against Real Betis.
Real Betis look doomed at the bottom, but then there are only 7 points covering the next 9 teams up to 11th place. So the relegation battle will go right to the end.

Speaking of Real Betis..........
You have to feel sorry for them in the Battle of Seville.
Europa League 1st leg last week: Sevilla 0 - 2 Real Betis
So you'd have a few Euros on them progressing.
Nope.... second leg tonight: Real Betis 0-2 Sevilla and Betis go out 3-4 on penalties!
As they all say.....now to concentrate on the league!
