Yep - a great 4-3 win for Almeria moves them out of the relegation zone and level on points again with Elche!
But, as at the Bernabeu, most of the debate is about the performance of the referee!
"Referee Ayza Gámez stole the show during the match between Almería and Real Sociedad, incorrectly awarding three penalties: one for a handball that wasn't by Trujillo, one for a Carlos Martínez challenge outside the box and another when Aleix went down softly from Mikel González's push. To compound matters, he also disallowed a goal from Verza that should have stood." (Marca)

Another 0-0 point for Elche.
What can Almeria do at home to Valencia on Thursday?

Not a good start for Almeria!
1 min gone and Saydou Keita puts Valencia 1-0 up.
Almeria kick-off....three passes back to the goalkeeper and Keita nips in to steal it and put it in the net!
(Official timing is 8 SECONDS!)
33 mins Almeria 0-2 Valencia
52 mins and Almeria make a game of it....1-2.
54 mins and we're all square! 2-2.
So Almeria also pick up a precious point.

Another defeat for Almeria last week, and Elche pick up another point.
This week, Almeria lose their relegation battle with Osasuna and seem destined to return to the Segunda next season. Osasuna, meanwhile, show how close it is at the bottom by climbing 5 places to 14th with the win.
But Elche score in the 93rd minute to pick up a vital 3 points in their relegation battle against Getafe.

Both our locals lost this weekend. As did most of the others at the bottom. So no real change down there.

Didn't really expect Elche to get anything from their trip to Madrid did we! Atléti 2-0 Elche.
Almeria lose too - as did most of the others at the bottom. So things stay roughly as they were.
With 4 games to play (5 for Valladolid) the table looks like this (the bottom three go down):
15 Osasuna.........pl34....35pts
16 Elche..............pl34....35pts
17 Valladolid........pl33....32pts
18 Getafe............pl34....32pts
19 Almería...........pl34....30pts
20 Betis..............pl34.....22pts

20/4/14
Almeria's relegation fears deepened as they slumped to a 4-2 home defeat to Celta Vigo.
The visitors struck three times in the second half through Charles, Nolito, his second of the match, and Fabian Orellana to take the game away from their opponents.
Rodri had cancelled out Nolito's opener to send Almeria in level at the break, but they were overwhelmed thereafter, with Oscar Diaz's strike coming too late to influence the outcome.

Another precious point for Elche against Levante (1-1). They're now 4 points above the drop zone with three games to play. But teams below them have 1 or 2 games in hand!
Almeria play Sunday.
EDIT.....Osasuna stay a point below Elche after their 4-0 thrashing by Real. (Including a superb 4th goal by Carvajal.)

Hey folks......would you believe it.....Almeria win 2-1 away at Espanyol!
That moves them to only 2 points from safety!
It's getting squeaky-bum time down the bottom (if you'll pardon the mixed metaphor!).

Elche take a major stride towards survival with a 1-0 win at Malaga! And looking at the TV, they had a massive level of support down there.

Elche's win could be enormous! It gives them a 2-point cushion in the table and moves them up to 14th. Then, there are only 2 points covering positions 15 to 19 (18 and 19 will be relegated). Granada's outstanding game is played Monday and Valladolid's game is on Wednesday. I wouldn't expect them to pick up points!

With Elche holding Barca and Almeria 1 up at Granada, they're both on their way to safety!
As it stands...
Elche.........40 pts Almería.......39 Granada.......38 Valladolid....37 Getafe........37 Osasuna.......36 Betis.........23
Elche's final game will be at Seville and Almeria will be at home to Athletic Bilbao.

Elche hold on to the point against Barca which makes them safe because Betis beat Valladolid (would you believe!) in a 7 goal thriller.
Almeria win 2-0 but still need one point from their final game to be sure of safety.
Elche.........40 pts Almería.......39 Getafe.........39 Granada.......38 Valladolid....36 Osasuna.......36 Betis.........25
