NEXT HOME GAME
TERCERA DIVISION GRUPO XIII - Game 23
Scheduled for Sunday 20/01/2019
To be played at the ESTADIO MUNICIPAL DE MAZARRON ‘Pedro Mendez Mendez’
MAZARRON F.C. v C.D. MINERA
Mazarrón FC return home for the first time since before last Christmas and hopefully it will end in a better result than that last home game.
Our next opponents will be CD Minera who we will be facing for the second time this season. In the reverse fixture Mazarrón suffered their first loss of the season by the narrowest of margins. Here is a résumé of what occurred early in September last year.
CD MINERA 1 - MAZARRÓN FC 0 (2.9.2018)
Mazarron started the game with three central defenders and neither side could stamp any authority on the game in the opening minutes. Mazarron were being penalised at regular intervals, conceding a number of free kicks, most of which seemed very harsh but the defence dealt capably with everything thrown at them.
An excellent move on 24 minutes when a crossfield ball from Andreo found Zurdo on the left, the cross was touched on by Dani Barellis only for Basi to fire just wide.
On the stroke of half time another harsh free kick was awarded against Mazarron and this time the cross was headed home at the far post to give Minera the lead. There was no time left to restart the game and the half ended Minera 1 Mazarron 0.
Mazarron showed more attacking intent at the start of the second half but it was Minera who broke away in the 50th minute only to see a fierce shot from the right go wide of the target.
Mazarron had numerous free kicks awarded in their favour all of which either failed to reach their intended targets or sailed well over the bar. Dani Barrelis found himself clear but failed to control the ball and the chance was lost and Basi's good run down the right ended with a cross that was easily cleared.
Mazarron were restricted to a couple of long range efforts which went aimlessly over the bar before they had their first shot on target after 83 minutes when the Minera keeper made a fine save to divert the ball for a corner.
Despite more pressure in the closing stages and a number of corners and free kicks, Mazarron failed to trouble the Minera defence and a very disappointing game ended with a 1-0 defeat.
In a game of few bad tackles Mazarron received four yellow cards, Minera six!
LAST WEEKEND
Mazarrón FC were away at Huercal Overa where the home side raced into a 2-0 lead before Mazarrón took charge of the fixture bringing the scores level by halftime. Two quick second half goals for Mazarrón saw them take a commanding 2-4 lead
Meanwhile CD Minera had home advantage over Ciudad de Murcia where an early penalty for Minera put them in the driving seat but Murcia brought it back late on for a final score of 1-1
