Scheduled for Sunday 14/10/2018 (KO: 18:30)
To be played at theCAMPO MUNICIPAL "LA ARBOLEJA", CIEZA ESTADIO MUNICIPAL "PEDRO MENDEZ MENDEZ", MAZARRÓN
C.D. CIEZA v MAZARRON F.C. MAZARRÓN F.C. v C.D. CIEZA
Another point picked up last week keeps Mazarrón in the top half of the table whilst our next opponents C.D. Cieza suffered a 0-5 beating at lowly CAP Ciudad de Murcia and languish in 18th place.
LAST WEEKEND
Mazarrón FC kept up their unbeaten home record with a commendable 1-1 draw against a strongly fancied Mar Menor side who have been ever-present in the Tercera division for some time. They have finished in the top 5 for eight years running and narrowly lost out on promotion to the Segunda 'B' through the play-offs last year.
The usual names appear in the credits for the game. Antonio Peña, being hard-worked as ever, managed to save a penalty after Nacho's handball in the area. Only to see the rebound knocked in to give the visitors the lead. Not to be left behind too long, Dani Barriles rose to head Mazarrón back on even terms less than 15 minutes later - from a cross by Basi. Then there was Adrian Campoy who held the defence together to keep the score on even terms until the end, meriting the Man of the Match award in the process.
C.D. CIEZA
For the second week running, our opponents have previously faced off to CAP Ciudad de Murcia. They, you will remember were last season's runaway champions of the Preferente and gained automatic promotion to the Tercera. But their season is not going too well and before this weekend they had amassed just 4 points from their 6 games and were in the relegation places. They must have been on the red meat before meeting Cieza as they ran in FIVE unanswered goals including a hat-trick for Jonas.
So, either Cieza will be out to show their fans they are not down and out or they have not got a decent team this year.
Let's just hope there is no repeat of the disgraceful scenes when we visited Cieza just under 10 years ago. With Mazarrón scoring a 95th minute equaliser (it had to be Quintana, didn't it!), the scene was set for some fearful response from the local supporters. Mazarrón players were spat at as they left the pitch and the supporters' coach was stoned as it left the ground.
They play at the Estadio La Arboleja with a capacity of 5,500. They play in red shirts and black shorts so Mazarrón should be in white. Cieza is about an hour's journey from Camposol.
CURRENT STATS
MAZARRÓN FC P 7 W 3 D 2 L 2 GF 9 GA 7 Points 11
CD CIEZA P 7 W 2 D 1 L 4 GF 5 GA 12 Points 7
SANCTIONS AND SUSPENSIONS
Andreo should be back in contention after his one game ban. And we wait to see if Boudia is fit to be considered. With Mazarrón again picking up a fistful of yellows (SIX), we shall have to wait for possible suspensions. Cieza only saw yellow once so are unlikely to be short of players.
More details of any other suspensions will be posted on the forum when they are released on Thursday night by the federation.
