NEXT HOME GAME
LIGA PHILIPS PREFERENTE GRUPO UNICO - game 27
Scheduled for Sunday 19/03/2017
To be played at the ESTADIO MUNICIPAL DE MAZARRON
MAZARRÓN F.C. v A.D. ALQUERIAS-NEXUS ENERGIA
Following Sunday's great away win we are back home next weekend to face one of our closes rivals for a playoff place in the shape of Alquerias and this has '6 pointer ' written all over it. We are on the same points total but we are ahead due to the 'head to head' rule and we do have a game in hand.
WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEKEND?
Despite going behind in the 9th minute Mazarrón FC dug in and came away with a brilliant 1-2 away win this was despite the sending off of the influential Boudia in the 80th minute for a second yellow card. What a season this boy is having after his conversion from striker to defensive midfielder, he will be sorely missed next weekend. So that's 10 games undefeated for Mazarrón, not bad for a side put together just prior to the start of the season is it?
Meanwhile Alquerias were at home to next the to bottom side in the league, Montecasillas, and cruised to a 2-0 win scoring with two late goals including a penalty.
WHAT HAPPENED EARLIER IN THE SEASON?
AD ALQUERIAS 0 - MAZARRON FC 1 (29.10.2016)
Mazarron gave one of their best performances of the season so far to earn a 1-0 away win at AD Alquerias.
Alquerias started brightly and Juan Pedro in the Mazarron goal made a couple of early saves with Raul Torrano also helping out with a goal line clearance from a corner. Most of Alquerias's threat came from their star player David who caused Mazarron many problems in the corresponding game last season.
However, Mazarron soon got to grips with the artificial surface and Jimmy shot over the bar from a Boudia free kick. The only goal of the game came after 24 minutes. Raul was fouled midway inside the Alquerias half and Raul Torrano's pinpoint free kick was headed firmly into the net by Raul. And it was Mazarron who were creating the better chances with Jimmy again firing over the bar and Ruben's cross to the far post being just too long for Raul to reach.
Steven replaced Raul at half time and Mazarron used his pace down the right to good effect with Jimmy taking up a central striking role. Andreo and Ruben both had shots off target for Mazarron and Steven made an excellent break down the right but chose to cross the ball when he was better placed to have a shot at goal. Mazarron almost increased their lead on 65 minutes when Juan Pedro's clearance was cleverly controlled by Jimmy. He played the ball into the path of Ruben whose fierce drive was just touched around the post by the Alquerias keeper.
A minute later Juan Andreo's pass found Andreo whose shot crashed against the bar as Mazarron started to take control of the game. Then Jimmy and Ruben exchanged passes with Jimmy's shot again being well saved.
Alquerias surged forward in the last 15 minutes but Mazarron's defence again superbly marshalled by captain Juan Andreo and Boudia held firm to earn three precious points. It was a great team effort with everyone playing their part. Jimmy worked tirelessly up front and Andreo, Ruben and Raso in midfield gave Alquerias little time on the ball. The fitness and energy showed by the whole team was outstanding as they battled throughout the 90 minutes and 5 minutes of added time to earn their just rewards.
CURRENT STATS
4th Mazarrón FC P 25 W 12 D 7 L 6 GF 38 GA 24 Points 43
6th AD Alquerias P 26 W 12 D 7 L 7 GF 41 GA 31 Points 43
WHO TO LOOK OUT FOR
Alquerias main point of focus when it comes to goal is Alvaro Ruiz Alcaraz Who has 8 goals to his name so far this season but picks up yellow cards like confetti so let's hope that he's due for a suspension for the game, we'll find out on Thursday from the Federation, but he did get another yellow on Sunday and I reckon that's 10 in his locker. The rest of the goals attributed to Alquerias are scattered throughout the side, similar to Mazarrón, so there are threats in all departments.
SANCTIONS AND SUSPENSIONS
We know that Mazarrón will be without Boudia following his sending off last weekend but we will have to await until Thursday to find out who else will be missing upon the release of the list players suspended by the Murcian federation.
