DERBY DAY IS HERE
Mazarrón FC v Bala Azul
Sunday 6th November 2016
Kickoff 5pm (17.00)
Mazarron's next game is the local derby at home to second placed Bala Azul from Puerto de Mazarron on Sunday (6th November) kick off 5 pm when a bumper crowd is expected at the Estadio Municipal so get their early if you want your usual seat.
During the close season there were some doubts whether either team from Mazarrón would be competing in the 2016/17 season with changes to both side presidents and boards but things have stabilised for both teams and we now look forward to the first local derby of the season.
Our opponents are flying at the moment and pulled off a remarkable 1-5 away win at the then top side Cartagena FC. So they have come out of the starting blocks in style although the only caveat that I would put on their performances is that the majority of their success have come against teams wallowing at the basement of the league.
LAST WEEKEND
Our visitors were at home to Montecasillas FC where they recorded their seventh win of the season against a side now sitting just two points about the drop zone with a 2-1 scoreline.
Meanwhile Mazarrón FC were on their travels to Alquerias and following a whole team display came home with three points following a 0-1 victory, no mean feat against a side in the playoff places.
CURRENT STATS
2nd Bala Azul P 10 W 7 D 1 L 2 GF 24 GA 12 Points 22 9th Mazarrón FC P 10 W 4 D 2 L 4 GF 11 GA 11 Points 14
PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR
Bala Azul have no problem in finding the back of the net as they boast 2 players in the top four top goal scorers in our league including the number one who is Salvador Manuel Ardil Navarro who wears the number 21 shirt with 8 goals so far and his strike partner Jose Agustin Martinez Gonzalez with 6 goals and wears the number 9 shirt. So over 50% of Bala's goals come from these two but saying that neither scored in their victory last weekend, stopping these two could be the route to three points.
SUSPENSIONS & SANCTIONS
Details of any sanctions or suspensions will be posted on the Mazarróns forum when available.

A VERY SAD TURN OF EVENTS
This weekend's local derby against Bala Azul is a "Dia del Club" - Club Day. For this game season ticket holders will be charged €3 on production of their season ticket with normal match day admission €5 (juveniles free).
This never happened under the previous management of Jose at Mazarrón FC. In my opinion a 'season ticket' means exactly that.
I have pre paid for a seasons worth of games. No one told me that there would be 'Dia del club' games when I bought it.
If they wanted more cash why did they reduce the cost of season tickets this season? But with this unfair levy of €3 we are almost at the same price as last seasons season ticket.
My question is 'will there be any more Dia del club??'
**********************************
This is a straight lift from last seasons match information:-
"IT'S THE BIG ONE
MAZARRON FC v BALA AZUL
KICKOFF 6pm (18.00) SUNDAY 24th APRIL 2016
Please note that the gate prices for this game will be reduced to €3 for adults whilst under 16 are free. Unlike some local teams, Bala Azul and Totana to name two, we, Mazarron FC, have more respect for our supporters and we have declined to have 'club days' where prices are raised for high attendance games. We are a community based football team who doesn't fleece their supporters for a quick gain.
But Jose, the club president, will be assembling a big raffle prize for the game, and we hope that you will continue to support the club raffle and buy a ticket or two as it is an important element in match day revenues combined with the canteen takings and entrance money."
AND THE RESULT OF THIS ACTION?
The result was that we sold out of beer and food, the raffle took twice the cash it normally did and the ground was full. Mazarrón FC generated MORE cash than if they had a 'Dia del club'
If it worked last season why not this?

SANCTIONS AND SUSPENSIONS
Both sides should be at full strength as neither team have any sanctions or suspensions.
Remember to take extra cash with you to get into the ground on Sunday 😱

AN EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE SPOILED BY AN OLD BOY AND A LAST MINUTE PENALTY NOT GIVEN
Mazarrón FC 0 v Bala Azul 1
This was a good performance by Mazarrón with both sides having numerous chances but it was Mazarrón old boy Jose Da who broke the deadlock with a superbly taken goal and it had to be good to beat Mazarróns man of the match Juan Pedro who was our keeper for the day.
A good performance by the ref was spoiled in the 89th minute when he denied Mazarrón a clear cut penalty for hand ball saying the ball came of the defenders shoulder, it didn't.

MAZARRON FC 0 CD BALA AZUL 1
An 81st goal from former Mazarron player Jose Da gave Bala Azul a narrow victory in the local derby in front of the largest crowd in recent years at the Estadio Municipal.
Bala had the better of the early exchanges and it was 15 minutes before Mazarron threatened the visitors goal when Raul Torrano's free kick was snatched off the onrushing Raul's head by Bala keeper Gregorio. Six minutes later Raul Torrano's long throw found Jimmy who hit a fierce shot just over the bar.
As Mazarron came more into the game Chino's cross from the left was headed down by Raul into the path of Jimmy but his left foot shot was well over the bar. Andreo then made an excellent break down the right but his cross, intended for Raul, was cut out by Gregorio.
At the other end Juan Pedro was troubled by a dipping shot which he managed to claw away and then Diego had a shot which was deflected wide for a Bala corner. The visitors had a penalty appeal turned down and then, on 41 minutes, Boudia conceded a free kick just outside the penalty from which Juan Pedro made an excellent diving save.
The half time interval was marred by the actions of the Bala supporters who were throwing fireworks on to the pitch despite the fact that both teams' substitutes were warming up and that there were many children playing their own games on the playing area during the break.
Bala started the second half like a house on fire. Diego's free kick was superbly saved by Juan Pedro who then had to make another stunning save to keep out another long range shot. After 58 minutes Salvador's shot from 25 yards beat the diving Juan Pedro but, fortunately for Mazarron, went just outside the far post.
Mazarron were relying on breakaways at this stage and Chino's long throw caused panic in the visitors defence before the ball was headed over the bar for a corner. The on 61 minutes Koko controlled a left wing cross before turning inside and shooting straight at the Bala keeper.
After 71 minutes it was Juan Pedro in action again with another excellent save to keep out former Mazarron player, Diego. The deadlock was finally broken after 81 minutes when Jose Da was allowed to run at the Mazarron defence and hit an excellent shot from just outside the penalty area which gave Juan Pedro no chance.
Mazarron were denied what seemed to be an obvious penalty for handball in the closing minutes but the referee indicated only a corner kick to the dismay of Mazarron players and supporters. Bala Azul just about deserved their victory on the balance of play and went to the top of the league with Mazarron still occupying a mid table position.
Team: Juan Pedro; Raul Torrano; Boudia, Juan Andre; Chino; Raso; Andreo; Koko; Ruben (Steven); Raul (Cesar); Jimmy.
Man of the Match; Juan Pedro

That just shows you the worth of this 'team of the week'
Jose Da came on as a 62 minute substitute, spent most of his time responding to the local youths barracking him and was ineffectual in the game, he was invisible contributing nothing to Bala Azul. He picked up a loose ball at the edge of the box from a defensive error and scored a goal, his only attempt in the game.
Then like the petulant child that we all remember he stood with his back to the Mazarrón fans pointing at his name on the back of his shirt.
Team of the week? Sulky boy of the season more like.
I suppose there was no mention of Mazarróns number 2 Raul who had the leagues top scorer Salvador in his pocket all afternoon?
Who composes this team of the week, Garth Crooks?
