Futsal in Spain is even more one-sided than La Liga!
Yet again, 3 of the final 4 teams in a competition are Intermovistar of Madrid, FC Barcelona and El Pozo Murcia.
The semi-finals of the fútbol sala Copa de España are being played tonight (Saturday) in Guadalajara.
They are:
Inter Movistar vs Burela Pescados Rubén (me neither!) (18:00)
El Pozo Murcia vs FC Barcelona Lassa (20:15)
This is a 'one-off game' competition and the winners will meet in the final to be played tomorrow (Sunday) at 20:15.
(EDIT: Today's geography lesson! Burela is a fishing town (pescados, geddit?) in Galicia near the northernmost tip of Spain. A win for them would be like Leicester beating Man. City or Liverpool....hang on, they just did!)

Well, Intermovistar duly dispensed with the fishermen 6-3.
But it's a closer thing in the other game. Halfway through the second half and the score has been 0-1, 1-1, 1-2, 2-2, 2-3, 3-3!
GOAL....8 minutes to go and Murcia take the lead for the first time.
El Pozo Murcia 4-3 Barcelona Lassa.
And Murcia score in the final minute to make the result 5-3.
Tomorrow's final will be Intermovistar versus El Pozo Murcia.

THE FINAL
Intermovistar versus El Pozo Murcia
The story so far.......
Murcia shade the first half and score on the stroke of half-time.....0-1
Inter come out all guns blazing and equalise in the first minute.....1-1
Keeping up the pressure they go in front 2 minutes later.....2-1
10 minutes to go and the 'keepers are the stars at the moment.
And that's how it finished. InterMovistar are the campeones.

And so it came to pass that these two were set to fight it out for the Supercopa of Futsal España. This is traditionally the start of the new season.
Today, in Antequera, Malaga, the scene was set for revenge for the Murcians.
And that's what happened.
El Pozo took the game to InterMovistar in the first half and converted their chances. InterMovistar on the other hand, came up against a great day for the El Pozo keeper Fabio.
At Half-time, it was El Pozo 2-0 InterMovistar.
The second half was more even, but Fabio again kept the Madrileños at bay. Even when they did get one past him, El Pozo replied within a minute.
And that was it. The final score 3-1 to El Pozo Murcia.

Well, here we are a year later and it's Futsal cup final time again.
Quarters today and tomorrow, semis on Saturday and the final at 7p.m. on Sunday.
Guess what, El Pozo, Barcelona and InterMovistar are there again. And they're not playing each other in the quarters so expect them to fill three of the semi places.
Watch this space.

Well, that's a surprise. In the week that Barcelona F.C. set a record in the Champions League, their futsal team let the side down by missing out on the semi-finals for the Copa de Espana.
The semis will be:
Sábado 11 de marzo
18:00 ElPozo de Murcia-Magna Gurpea
20:15 Jaén Paraíso Interior-Movistar Inter

And so it came to pass.....
Sunday's final will be El Pozo vs Movistar - AGAIN.
Both teams ran out winners by 2-1. But El Pozo didn't have it all their own way against the minnows from Navarra. They only won with the last kick of the game!

...and we go to Extra Time - 4-4!!!
It went 16 mins 0-1 to Movistar 17 mins 1-1 19 mins 1-2 22 mins 2-2 27 mins 3-2 28 mins 3-3 33 mins 4-3 34 mins 4-4
The game is 2 x 20 mins halves
And it's 2 x 5 mins for the extra time.
...and we're off...
with no scoring in the first period.....
...nor in the second...
We're going to penalties!
It's up to 7-7!
8-8
El Pozo MISS...but Movistar put it away.
Final score 4-4 (Movistar win 9-8 on penalties)!
