Last week, Moratalla were at home to Esparragal and lost 3-5.
When we played them in Moratalla just before Chrtistmas, we came away with a 5-2 victory at a time when we were scoring prolifically and even thinking of promotion!
Here's how it went......
MORATALLA AD 2 MAZARRON FC 5
On another crazy weekend in the Primera Autonomica when the top three teams all lost, Mazarron strengthened their challenge for promotion with a 5-2 away win at Moratalla AD.
Despite being without key players Alcon and Moha, Mazarron scored five goals for the third time in the last four games and only La Hoya Lorca CF have scored more goals so far this season.
The game did not start well and, after a scrappy opening, Moratalla took the lead when Martinez took advantage of some poor defending to score. The lead lasted barely five minutes before Jose Da equalised with an excellent free kick from just outside the area. Moratalla regained the lead before half time when Fernandez pounced onto a mistake by full back Gilberto and beat Noguera in the Mazarron goal.
The second half was dominated by Jose Ruben, Mazarron and, once again, an over-zealous referee. Alfonso equalised 10 minutes into the second half and Jose Ruben grabbed a hat trick in the last 30 minutes of the game, his second in two weeks. Ruben is now the leading scorer in the league with 11 goals from his 12 starts this season.
The win takes Mazarron to sixth place in the league although Nuestro Abaran could overtake them if the result of their abandoned game against CD Alberca is allowed to stand. Irrespective of that, we are only two points from an automatic promotion spot, four points from second place and six points behind league leaders Lorca Deportiva.
The next three games will be important with two home games against Abaran and seventh placed Soho Medi and a difficult away trip to third placed Beniajan CF.
Team: Noguera, Gilberto (Fran), Juan Andreo, Alcaraz, Randry, Alfonso, Tico, Jose Da, Adrian (Juanillo), Cecilio, Jose Ruben
Man of the Match: Jose Ruben
