So, with just the playoffs to go, we now know most of the teams Brentford be facing in next year's Championship. And it makes for interesting reading!
Games against Forest (me v Steve), Blackburn (me v Andy), Fulham (what a local derby), Reading (not far up the M4), Watford (just round the M25), Charlton and Millwall (blood and thunder in the smoke), Birmingham (always good in the past).
And, depending on the playoffs, possibly QPR (the BIG grudge-match local derby), Leyton Orient (who we were challenging most of this season for the promotion) and Wigan (home of our previous manager Uwe Rosler who must be credited with the strength of the team these past two seasons).
The big result today, though, was Villa's win over Hull which secured their Premier League spot. My son, a Villa fan, was dreading the possibility of losing to Brentford next season!

And would you believe it, the last game of the season will see Uwe Rosler return to Griffin Park with Wigan. Could make for much speculation if either team is in a promotion or relegation situation!

Spanish - Championship transfers:
"Brentford have signed midfielder Marcos Tebar Ramiro after the Spaniard terminated his contract at UD Almeria. The 28-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the Championship club, with the option for a third year. "We have tracked Marcos for the last 18 months and we hoped to sign him last summer," Bees boss Mark Warburton said. "He has shown us his passion for the game and the project we are evolving at Brentford" "Marcos is a very talented player, excellent tactically and technically. I am sure he will be a very valuable addition to the squad." Tebar started his career at Real Madrid and represented Spain at under-16 and under-17 level. After featuring for Real's B team, he joined second-tier Girona in summer 2010 and spent three seasons with the Catalan club. He moved to Almeria last summer and featured 25 times in La Liga last season. "He has been playing against the best teams in Europe and has shown his quality," Warburton told the club website. "In the meetings we have had with him he has shown us his passion for the game and the project we are evolving at Brentford. "He is keen to play a major part in how the club moves forward."" BBC Sport
"Middlesbrough have confirmed they have agreed terms with Real Murcia to sign striker Enrique 'Kike' García, subject to clearance and a medical. The 24-year-old will join the Teessiders in Marbella next week where he is expected to complete the formalities of the transfer. The former Spain Under-20 player has scored 48 goals in 150 Spanish league games, with 23 last season. He follows compatriot Tomas Mejias in moving to Boro this summer." BBC Sport

OH I DO LIKE TO BE BESIDES THE SEA SIDE (But obviously footballers don't) Blackpool have cancelled their pre-season tour to Spain because they have just eight players and no goalkeeper available, and now there are doubts over Saturday's friendly at Penrith. Because the Seasiders have only eight players manager Jose Riga called off the trip to Spain to focus on squad building. With the game against Penrith now in doubt, Blackpool could have just one pre-season friendly. But what about the poor Blackpool fans who have booked flights and hotels expecting to have a bit of 'sun, sea and soccer???' Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston denies there is unrest at the club but admits they are having trouble securing their transfer targets. The Championship side has only eight players, and there have been reports manager Jose Riga is in a stand-off with Oyston over signings. Oyston told the Blackpool Gazette: ""I'd say there is frustration rather than unrest. Unfortunately, our recruitment has a backdrop of us not having many players, so there is more focus on us than would normally be the case. But we had a chat and are determined to do everything we can to resolve this situation." And Blackpools first opponents next season? NFFC

"Oh I do like to play against the seasiders, oh I do like to squash a Tangerine......." ...and so you shall. A good 2-0 result. As for Brentford, one advantage of getting in the Championship is the TV streaming. Great game with a great name scoring the Bees' equaliser......Tommy Smith it was.

Brentford look to bring more Spanish style to their play...........
Brentford have signed Jose Peleteiro Ramallo, known as Jota, from Celta Vigo for an undisclosed fee and Jon Toral on a year-long loan from Arsenal. Both are Spanish attacking midfielders and Jota, 23, has signed a three-year contract at Griffin Park. Toral, 19, was with Barcelona before joining Arsenal in 2011. (BBC Sport)

Would you credit it! Clayton Donaldson, Bees top scorer last year, opted to move to Birmingham this season - takes all sorts! And, after 15 mins, he's fouled in the box, the defender is off and Bees are 0-1 down.

Told you so................
"Brentford manager Mark Warburton has been named the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month for November.
Warburton spent early autumn trying to convince his players they belong in the Sky Bet Championship.
After a perfect November with five wins, 14 goals and a Play-Off position, Warburton was proved right as Brentford’s thrilling attacking play swept everyone aside.
Chris Hughton(*) chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel.
He said: “For a team that won promotion last season Brentford have made a fantastic start to the new campaign.
“To record five straight wins in the Sky Bet Championship is a wonderful achievement and Mark Warburton is thoroughly deserving of this award.”
(*) Chris Hughton ended his playing career at Brentford in 1993.

AND RIGHTLY SO
Nottingham Forest receive transfer windfall
Nottingham Forest have won a £250,000 transfer fund to spend in the January window, despite being subject to a Football League embargo.
Forest supporter Shaun Lander earned his side the prize as Sky Bet's Transfer Fund competition came to an end on Tuesday lunchtime, just over 24 hours after the Football League put Forest, along with Championship rivals Blackburn and Leeds, under an embargo for breaching financial fair play rules.
That's useful, isn't it?
