After a weekend off for Easter it will be back to work for Mazarron FC who travel to EDMF Churra for the return fixture of the game played on 8th December 2013 and it's time to revenge that home defeat. This game is scheduled to be played on Sunday 27th of April but Churra have played a number of their games on Saturday so keep an eye out for details as they are released.
Regarding that first encounter, Mazarron FC suffered a close and undeserved defeat at home and here is what happened:
Mazarron were without key players Alfonso and Alcaraz for this game and the loss of these two key players showed.
Mazarron nearly took an early lead when a Gilberto’s cross found Cecilio whose shot was blocked by a defender and Juanillo’s attempt to follow up was also blocked.
A bit of a stalemate then until the 29 minutes when a hopeful through ball caught the Mazarron defence out of position and from a clear offside position a Churra strike lobbed the ball over Ruben into the empty net.
And that's how it stood at half time. 0-1
Mazarron should have equalised after 52 minutes when Jose Ruben failed to convert reach a cross from Randry but the ball went wide of the far post. Mazarron almost brought the scores level in injury time with a Tico 30 yard drive but it went just wide.
FINAL SCORE 0-1
Team: Ruben, Gilberto, Juan Andreo, Dani (Jose Da), Randry, Juanillo (Fran), Tico, Moha, Alcon, Jose Ruben, Cecilio.
Man of the Match: Cecilio
ABOUT EDMF CHURRA:
Home strip is shown as GREEN and WHITE halved shirt so we should be in RED
Last season, 2012/13 Churra played in the Preferente division and had a bad time of it. By the end of the season they had only won 4 games, drawing 4 and with only 16 points were relegated as the bottom side and joined us for this season.
They are making a better fist of it this season and are currently handily placed in 4th place and are a candidate for promotion back to the Preferente.
Last weekend they were away at Juvenia where it was yet another draw for them, this time the score line was 1-1
EDMF Churra doesn't seem to have any out and out strikers with their top man only on 5 goals scored and rely on a team effort when it comes to scoring with a number of players on 3 and 4 goals and although saying that they are currently 7 places and 12 points above Mazarron FC.
They have score 16 goals less than us but Mazarron FC have conceded 19 more than Churra, so you can see their game plan, defend and win by the odd goal, which seems to have worked with them losing only 6 games all season. They are also draw specialists having drawn 6 games compered to Mazarron's 3.
CURRENT STATS:
5th EDMF CHURRA P 27 W 15 D 6 L 6 GF 45 GA 31 Points 51
12th MAZARRON FC P 28 W 12 D 3 L 13 GF 61 GA 50 Points 39
GROUND AND FACILITIES:
Personally I have never been to Churra's ground but from what I understand and looking at it on the computer it is part of a modern sports centre and they play on an artificial pitch. There is uncovered seating down one side of the pitch. There is a canteen and the usual toilet facilities. The ground is situated in the middle of a housing development to the North of Murcia and is the village just before Cabezo De Torres. So getting there is simple and it's only 56km or 36 minutes away.
DIRECTIONS TO THE GROUND:
For those of you who have "sat nav's" the co ordinates are 38° 01' 32" N, 01° 08' 18" W or put in "Calle Juan Aguilar Amat, Murcia" and you should be able to locate it.
If you have been to IKEA in Murcia you will know the way to this ground as it is close bye.
Join the A7 motorway at Alhama and stay on it until you reach the junction 763. (although this number might have changed) This is the junction signposted for A30 to ALBECETE going North and MURCIA going south.
TAKE THE FIRST SLIP ROAD signposted MURCIA which will leads you in the direction of the IKEA store which you can see in the near distance to your right, huge blue building with yellow writing.
Join this dual carriageway for 1KM and you will come to an awful, busy, huge traffic island where everyone seems to go their own way so be careful. You will be turning LEFT at this roundabout which is the third turning off it and signposted CENTRO COMERCIALE.
Once you have travelled along this road for about 100 metres you will come to another traffic island across which the Murcian tram runs, so you have traffic and trams to deal with here.
GO STRAIGHT OVER THIS ROUNDABOUT taking the turn off signposted URBANIZACIONES and after 100 metres take the FIRST RIGHT which is Calle Juan Aguilar Amat and the ground is 50 metres on your left. There is loads of 'on street' parking around the stadium.
TEAM NEWS:
Information regarding suspensions, injuries will be posted near the date of the game but from Mazarron FC's point of view there is mixed news.
You might be aware that Juan Andreo (Sam) has left the team following getting a new job which restricts his ability to train and play. With Sam having a young family this is understood by the club management who wishes him the best for the future.
But on a very promising note I spoke to Alfonso in the presence of Jose at the Esparragal game and he said that he would be fit to return to action for the Churra match. Alfonso has been sorely missed since he was injured in the game against Cabezo De Torres for his creativity, defence work and the goals that he regularly scores. Welcome back Alfonso, we need you.
