MAZARRÓN v LA HOYA LORCA CF 'B'
KICKOFF 5pm (17.00) SUNDAY 16th MARCH Well after facing Lorca Deportiva last weekend we now have the opportunity put one over the other Lorca team as on Sunday we take on La Hoya CF "B" at home. Currently La Hoya "B" are in a mid table position following their surprise 2-3 home defeat against CD Esparragal and appear to be in a bit of a dip in form at the moment, so it could be a good time for Mazarron to meet them. La Hoya are currently one place but five points ahead of Mazarron FC. If like me you unfortunately missed the first meeting between Mazarron FC and La Hoya "B" in October but here is what happened: On the day Mazarron FC started with two new players, Alcon (who has now left us) and Gilberto who is rarely seen nowadays and then only as a substitute, but we were missing the influential Alfonso, but despite these new faces Mazarrón were a bit unlucky to be defeated 3-0 by La Hoya 'B'
Both Cecilio and Jose Da, (who has now left Mazarron FC), had good early chances for Mazarron FC but did not take full advantage but in the 25th minute a good advantage was played by the referee for La Hoya and a long range shot from the left wing found the far corner of the net.
Although Mazarrón matched La Hoya for the remainder of the first half with Cecilio hitting the bar they went to the break 1-0 to La Hoya 'B'.
Right at the start of the second half La Hoya double their lead. On 47th minute with a well worked goal.
Cecilio and Jose Da almost reduced the lead as Mazarron FC continued to press.. In the 66th minute a La Hoya attacker dispossessed Jose Da then from a mid field position took two steps forward and blazed the ball high over Noguera into the top of the net. This seemed to spur Mazarron FC on and they could well have scored 3 or 4 goals but it wasn't to be with the final score remain 3 – 0 to La Hoya.
Team; Noguera, Randry (Perico), Gilberto (Fran), Jose Da, Juan Andreo, Cecilio, Alfonso, Alcaraz, Jose Ruben, Tico, Alcon (Juanillo).
Man of the Match Gilberto.CURRENT STATS: 11th La Hoya 'B' P 23 W 10 D 4 L 9 GF 52 GA 44 Points 34 12th Mazarron FC P 23 W 9 D 2 L 11 GF 47 GA 42 Points 29 More details about suspensions and other relevant matters will be published here at a later date.

Weather forecast for the 5pm kickoff on Sunday is 23 centigrade and in full sun, so bring a hat, a RED one. This will be the first game of the new coach so please come along and give him your support whilst sitting in the sun with a cool drink. News of sanction and suspensions will appear here later but we will be without Alfonso who could miss the rest of the month with extensive ligament damage to his ankle. But on the positive side there has been a good turn out for training sessions with 18 players taking part.

SANCTIONS/SUSPENSIONS Mazarron FC will be missing ENRIQUE ALCARAZ SANCHEZ. La Hoya will be without MANUEL DAVID LLAMAS DIAZ. the federation site doesn't record this lad scoring any goals so a defender?? Another points to note is that their leading scorer has only score 6 goals and 3 others have hit the net 5 times. Mazarron FC in the meantime have Tolo on 16 and Jose Ruben on 11 goals, even Alfonso has made the net bulge 7 times.

Now what's that expression? I know, "if it wasn't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all" And that was the story of today's game, La Hoya had one, controversial, attempt on goal and scored whilst Mazarron FC bombarded the opponent's goal and came up with a big fat zero.
Prior to the game Jose, the club president, said that Mazarron's performance in the away game against La Hoya was, in his opinion, the best this season although we lost 3-0 on the day, so both of us were looking forward to the return match which was played on a lovely sunny day with no wind so perfect conditions for the new Mazarron FC coach Javi.
Mazarron FC started the game with Tolo and Jose Ruben (JR) up front with Tico sat just behind them in an attacking formation which almost reaped rewards in the 6th minute when from a La Hoya corner Marcos collected the cross and cleared it up field to Tolo who hit it first time that brought a point blank save from the visiting keeper and this wouldn't be the last time that he would come to La Hoya's rescue.
Moments later it was Tico's turn, but this time from a free kick which just cleared the cross bar.
From the resultant goal kick, which was pumped long up field, the ball was latched onto by a La Hoya forward who appeared well offside, Unfortunately the linesman was miles behind play and kept his flag down. The Mazarron players froze expecting the obvious offside but play was waved on so it was a two on one situation with two La Hoya strikers and just the excellent Marcos in the Mazarron goal. Marcos pulled off an unbelievable point blank save turning the ball onto the post but unfortunately rebounded kindly to the other La Hoya player who slotted home into the empty net.
0-1
It was then just the wave after wave of relentless Mazarron pressure which went like this:
15 minutes, Tolo free kick, excellent save. 22 minutes, Tico free kick, excellent save. 31 minute, Corner headed back across the goal by JR to Moha which clipped the top of the bar. 32 minutes, One, two between JR and Adrian then to Enrique, fierce shot, excellent save. 36 minute, Tolo to JR a peach of a shot and a great save. And just before half time. 44 minutes, corner straight onto JR's head another finger tip save.
The half time whistle blew and please note La Hoya didn't have another chance on the Mazarron goal AT ALL during the first half despite the offside goal.
The style of Mazarron's play, whilst not at the cadete's free flowing, ball on the ground, ball to feet style just yet, was certainly an improvement on previous weeks. It will take a couple of weeks, I think, for Javi's ideas to be embedded in the team but it's getting there. And from that first half performance surely it would get better, wouldn't it?
Half time Mazarron FC 0 La Hoya 1
At the start of the second half Adrian and Moha were replaced by Chema and Ismael.
Mazarron got straight back to work with a cross from the left wing finding Tolo in space with only the keeper to beat, but his shot, although weak, was save on the line by the La Hoya goal minder, and shortly afterwards it was Tolo again who picked up a loose ball at the edge of the box which was saved at full stretch again.
It was really getting frustrating now with Mazarron completely controlling the game but La Hoya's defence and especially their keeper holding firm.
On 68 minutes Cecillio was thrown into the mix and joined Tico just behind the front two, a dangerous game leaving the defence short, but in Jan Andreo and (and I didn't think that I would ever say this) the outstanding GILBERTO, Mazarron's defence was in safe hand with La Hoya reduced to just speculative long range and usually wayward, shots. They were so comfortable Marcos was only called on a couple of times to clear up at the back.
Tolo's header on 70 minutes skimmed the bar again and shortly afterwards it was Tico's turn to try his luck with a long range swerving shot that almost fooled the visiting keeper as it moved through the air but he gathered it at the second attempt.
But the final, and maybe best, chance fell to Cecillio in the final minute when a sublime ball from Chema found Cecillio on his own unmarked in the box but he lost his footing just as he was about to pull the trigger and the chance was gone.
The final whistle went and the home supporters trudged off in disbelief that we had let 3 points slip through our fingers but with the belief that, as the song goes, "Things can only get better"
