AND IT GETS WORSE FOR BOLTON
Bolton players 'could opt to leave'
Bolton manager Neil Lennon has warned that players could choose to leave the club if they are not paid this month.
Wanderers, who are £172.9m in debt, did not pay players in November and they are entitled to give two weeks' notice if it happens again.
"I remember being in Glasgow when it happened to Rangers and players used their right to leave Rangers and go and play in England," said former Celtic boss Lennon.

CAN IT GET ANY WORSE THAN THIS?
Ex-Trotters striker Kevin Davies in hunt for investors
KEVIN DAVIES says his beloved Bolton must find £2.2million in a fortnight ... or face financial ruin.
The club are doomed to administration and certain relegation if the cash cannot be found.
Trotters legend Davies, 38, is hunting for investors to rescue the rock-bottom Championship side. And It has been revealed things are even worse than were first thought at the Macron Stadium.
To avoid administration and eventual near-certain relegation Bolton must pay the tax man not just £600,000, but a staggering £2.2M, two weeks time
Ex-player Davies has been running around town in an increasingly desperate bid to do his bit to save the 142-year-old club that owner Eddie Davies wants rid of.
The Trotters supremo is only asking for a quid to walk away — and is writing off debts of £189m to do so. Yet there are still no takers, with potential investors running scared of the red numbers — such as an annual wage bill of £27m at a club losing £1m a month.
Bolton must find £2.2m by January 18 to stave off a winding-up order issued by HMRC, with the threat of administration and a 12–point penalty hanging over them.
But the club also need a further £15m just to get through the summer when you take into account paying players’ wages and covering general running costs. The PFA had to help pay salaries last month — with Bolton flogging an office suite in the stadium to make up the difference.
Liquidation, not just administration, has become a very real possibility. And even if Bolton can stay alive, their failure to provide a Financial Fair Play report to the Football League points to yet more problems.
The club’s financial advisor Trevor Birch will try to raise cash by selling players, with the help of ex-Bury chairman Terry Robinson, who is acting in an unpaid capacity. But there will be few, if any, replacements because of an automatic transfer embargo.
When Bolton were first put up for sale two months ago, there was plenty of optimism. Not any more. Former club star Dean Holdsworth teamed up with boxer Amir Khan to try to buy Bolton, as did another ex-player, Stelios Giannakopoulos. But, worryingly, both consortiums have now backed off. Birch is talking to one interested foreign party but Davies, 38, said: “You do wonder how things seem to have been run in such a naive way. “Yet if there is to be any finger pointing, that can be done at another time. What we have to do is use all the time we have left to try to get Bolton through this.”
Davies — guest of honour for Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to Huddersfield — is trying to start a trust to raise cash but it may all be too late.
He said: “You look at the assets the club have and you would think it would be an attractive proposition. “But it has been two months now and still nothing

BOLTON WANDERERS FC LATEST
Bolton are facing a critical few days in their future and could be plunged into administration if they cannot find a buyer.
Wanderers face a winding-up hearing from HM Revenue and Customs, as it is understood they owe more than £2m and they are desperately trying to raise short-term funds before that date.
They have accepted a bid from Sheffield Wednesday for longest-serving player Mark Davies, as well as Bristol City's offer for forward Zach Clough.
Bolton are preparing themselves for the possibility of administration and the 12-point hit it brings, unless a takeover can be completed in the coming days.

OH DEAR, OH DEAR, OH DEAR
Bolton boss Neil Lennon is not a happy man.
His club are bottom of the Championship and are trying to sell players in an attempt to avoid going into administration - not entirely successfully.
After losing 3-2 to Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday, Lennon suggested that Mark Davies' proposed move to the Yorkshire club is in doubt.
He said: "I don't mind if the deal's done, but nobody's told me anything. And it's the same with Zach Clough. It's becoming farcical now because there's no information."
Wanderers have accepted a £2m bid for 20-year-old forward Clough from Bristol City but Lennon added: "He has been to Bristol, up and down for talks and nothing's happened from that, so it's become a bit of a pain in the neck to tell the truth."

OH DEAR, WHAT NEXT FOR THE PREMIERSHIP BOTTOM CLUB?
Billionaire admits club has been unstable for 5yrs
RANDY LERNER has quit his role as Chairman of Aston Villa after almost a decade, admitting the club has: “not been on a stable footing for at least five years.”
Villa’s American billionaire owner also confessed the Premier League’s bottom club is in a “deeply serious predicament,” as it faces the prospect of toppling into the Championship after 24 unbroken years in the Premier League.
Lerner, who has come under increased fire from fed-up fans this season, revealed he has appointed Steven Hollis to replace him as Chairman, with orders to shake-up the sinking Midlands giants.
Hollis, a city accountant, has been told to bring a “winning culture,” to a club which has lurched from one crisis to another for the last five years.

OH DEAR, WHAT NEXT FOR THE PREMIERSHIP BOTTOM CLUB? Billionaire admits club has been unstable for 5yrs RANDY LERNER has quit his role as Chairman of Aston Villa after almost a decade, admitting the club has: “not been on a stable footing for at least five years.” Ah, ever since Alex McLeish arrived there? No, the truth is it's been in a mess for TEN years since the Randy buffoon took over. Tight-fisted Doug Ellis had kept the club solvent despite years of mediocre performances. But it could be argued his tight-fistedness meant the cupboard was quite bare. However, check-out the Wiki article on the Cleveland Browns (Lerner's US 'interest' from 1999-2012). "Since resuming operations in 1999, the Cleveland Browns have struggled to find success. They have had only two winning seasons in 2002 and in 2007, one playoff appearance in 2002, and no postseason wins. To date, the Brown's record since their NFL return is 87–185." Good, isn't he!

JOIN THE CLUB LADS, JOIN THE CLUB

The Bluebirds become the fourth Championship club currently under a transfer embargo, joining Bolton, Fulham and Nottingham Forest.
It is the second time in six years that Cardiff have had such a sanction imposed upon them.
The embargo will be in place for the rest of the January transfer window.

PLAYING FOR TIME
Bolton's winding-up petition hearing scheduled for 18 January may be delayed, says manager Neil Lennon.
The Championship club are £172.9m in debt and under a transfer embargo until the end of the season for breaching Financial Fair Play rules.
They reportedly need to raise at least £600,000 before Monday, or face going into administration.
"Speaking to [club advisor] Trevor Birch he seems confident that there are things that can be done," Lennon said.

IS THIS A CASE OF THE TAXMAN WANTS HIS MONEY SO HAVE GIVEN BOLTON A WINDOW TO GET THE CASH?
Bolton Wanderers have avoided an immediate winding-up order after their case was adjourned until 22 February.
The Championship club are £172.9m in debt and under a transfer embargo until the end of the season for breaching Financial Fair Play rules.
They are currently bottom of the table and facing relegation to the third tier of English football.
AND HERE IS THE KNOCK ON EFFECT OF THAT DEBT
Striker Shola Ameobi will leave Championship strugglers Bolton because the club cannot offer him a new deal in their current financial situation.
The 34-year-old joined on a short-term deal in October and scored once, on his debut against Leeds, in eight outings.
Former Newcastle man Ameobi spent time at Turkish side Gaziantep BB and Crystal Palace before he joined Bolton.

AND IF YOU CAN BELIEVE IT, IT'S JUST GOT WORSE FOR THE BOLTON PLAYERS
Financially troubled Championship side Bolton Wanderers have told staff they may not get paid this month.
Around 300 staff based at Bolton's Macron Stadium and their two training grounds were informed of the situation on Wednesday morning.
A failure to sell players or car park land have caused the funding problem.

HOW BAD CAN IT GET? APPARENTLY VERY BAD.
REMI GARDE watched his Aston Villa flops plummet to a new low as they lost 3-0 to the club's Under-21s team.
First-team stars Brad Guzan, Alan Hutton, Ciaran Clark, Kieran Richardson, Ashley Westwood, Jordan Veretout, Idrissa Gueye and Scott Sinclair all featured.
Garde's plan to give his relegation-threatened players a boost backfired spectacularly at their Bodymoor Heath training ground last Friday.
Meanwhile, fuming Villa supporters intend to stage a walkout in the 74th minute of their next three home games. The 'Out the door on 74' campaign, set for clashes against Everton, Tottenham and Chelsea, is being organised in protest at how the club is run.

DRINKING AT THE 'LAST CHANCE' SALOON
Bolton given more time to pay
Crisis club Bolton Wanderers have been back in the High Court today to answer an HMRC winding up petition.
The club has twice successfully requested more time to pay a sum understood to be around £3m - the last time on 22 February, minutes after a deal was struck for Dean Holdsworth's Sports Shield consortium to buy the club.
BBC Sport understands that at today's High Court hearing a further adjournment has been granted "for the last time".
The Football League has given approval for Holdsworth's Sports Shield to complete a £7.5m purchase.
However, they have not yet been able to prove they have the funds the buy the club from owner Eddie Davies

I'm a simple man really. How do you get out of £172m debt? Other than folding up the curtains and starting again as Wandering Bolton FC or something similar in the Vanarama North!
