NEXT WEEKENDS AWAY GAME
To be played on Saturday 8th or Sunday 9th February 2014
Next weekends away game gives Mazarron FC another chance to try and "do the double" over an opponent, this time it's Atletico Cabezo De Torres. This is because in our second game of the season we saw this team off 3-0 at home and there isn't any reason why we shouldn't do the same at their place.
Here's what happened in our first encounter with next weekends opponents.
An attacking Mazarron FC started the game well and the now departed Pescao hit the post in the first minute this was followed by close attempts on the away teams goal by Jose Ruben and Cecilio in quick succession.
During this early spell Atletico Cabezo were restricted to the occasional breakaway but were well contained by the Mazarron FC defence. Tico was a constant thorn in the side of Atletico with penetrating balls finding first Cecilio who hit his shot straight at the keeper and Jose Ruben who saw his fierce shot clip the cross bar.
But Mazarron FC didn't have to wait long to take the lead with Alfonso making no mistake from 10 yards to give Mazarron the lead with the score remaining at 1-0 until half time.
Mazarron FC defenders had to show their metal for long periods at the start of the second half but withstood all attacks and praise must go to young Ruben in the Mazarron goal and a defence well marshalled by Alcaraz and Juan Andreu.
The score stay the same until 15 minutes remaining when Cecilio ran onto a ball, drew the keeper off his line then his intended pass to the unmarked Jose Ruben was deflected into the net by a visiting defender to give Mazarron a two goal lead.
Mazarron FC wrapped up the points a few minutes later scored their third when Jose Ruben headed in Tico’s free kick.
Mazarron FC nearly made it 4 late on but super sub Juanillo was thwarted by the onrushing keeper.
FINAL SCORE - MAZARRON FC 3 ATLETICO CABEZO DE TORRES 0
Team: Ruben, Victor, Alcaraz, Juan Andreu, Dani, Alfonso, Moha (Juanillo), Tico, Pescao (Chema), Jose Ruben (Adrian), Cecilio
Man of the Match: Alfonso.
CURRENT STATS.
There isn't much difference between these two teams at this stage of the season, so a good performance is called for by a Mazarron FC team which has been strengthened throughout the season by acquisitions, the removal of 'dead wood' and the team blending well. But ATLETICO CABEZO DE TORRES did thump El Esparragal 2-5 away last weekend whilst we could only draw 2-2 with Fuente Alamao.

SAT NAV INSTRUCTION
38° 01' 27" N, 01° 07' 06" W location RAMBLA DEL CARMEN, CABEZO DE TORRES, MURCIA.
OR
Take the dual carriageway running passed Camposol until you reach the motorway at alhama. Joint the A7 and travel in the direction of Murcia-Alicante. Stay on that motorway until you have passed the Nuevo Condomina and the Real Murcia stadium on your left then take the next turning, be a bit careful as the junctions on this road have been renumbered and most maps and sat navs show it as the 759 but as I have said it has changed number AND THE JUNCTION HAS BEEN RENUMBERED AS 563..
When you have reached this turnoff, the one you would take for the NUEVA CONDOMINA shopping centre, go straight on at the first traffic island, this road is sign posted A4 CABEZO DE TORRES, and go on for a short distance, about 750-1KM meters, until you reach a a point in the road where you take the slip road on the right again sign posted CABEZO DE TORRES, this is still the A4. This road will take you straight to the town.
On reaching Cabezo De Torres look for a left turn AT THE FIRST SET OF TRAFFIC LIGHTS, the is the usual orange sign directing you to the football ground and sports centre, the ground is situated on this road some 500 meters -1km on he right.
If you want to stop for a bite to eat or a drink, there is an excellent bar/cafe on the right at the traffic lights called the RANCHO GRANDE and the owner said that she will be open on Saturday and Sunday. They have a huge car park and the food/tapas is spot on. I went on a recce last week and enjoyed my breakfast there. The staff are most welcoming indeed.
GROUND & OTHER DETAILS
Atletico Cabezo De Torres play in our division courtesy of finishing 3rd in the segunda autonomica last season and were promoted.
They play in an all RED strip so we will be in our changed colours of BLUE.
They play on, what appears to be, a newly laid artificial surface which Mazarron FC seem to like playing on. The pitch is excellent. There is seating on the far side from the entrance gate next to the cantina and also next to the changing rooms with toilet facilities for supporters, a nice little ground.
