NEXT HOME GAME
TERCERA DIVISION GRUPO XIII - Game 18
Sunday 09/12/2018 Kickoff 6pm (18:00)
To be played at the ESTADIO MUNICIPAL DE MAZARRON ‘Pedro Mendez Mendez'
MAZARRON F.C. v AGUILAS F.C.
So it’s back to Mazarrón for the boys in red with their tails between their legs after a poor performance against Real Murcia and with a final score of 2-1. This is another occasion that we face a team in the relegation places who have put one over our team. These games against relegation threatened sides should be bread and butter for Mazarrón but for some reason they take their foot off the pedal and are beaten, at least this weekends opponents are in the top half of the table so we should fair a lot better.
On Thursday Aguilas were at relegation threatened Ciudad De Murcia and they didn’t make any mistake in putting them to the sword with a 3-0 win. We must ask them how they do it and beat lowly opponents.
AGUILAS FC
Aguilas FC are a team that have flirted with the higher leagues in Spain but have never quite made it and they find themselves back in the Tercera Division hoping for a return to division 2B at an early opportunity.
They finished a very credible 7th in this league last season and will be hoping to go one better by securing a playoff spot at the end of the season, and their next opponent, Mazarrón FC, stand in their way.
Whenever I think of Aguilas FC I will always recall a game at their place when ex Mazarrón goalkeeper Javi Soto, who was their substitute goalkeeper on Thursday, cleared a ball up field only to screw it so wide it went straight into an open window on the fourth floor of a block of flats adjacent to the ground, and then the occupant walking out onto his balcony carrying the ball looking to see where it had come from, I hope that it didn’t do to much damage.
CURRENT STATS
We started the game on Thursday two points ahead of Aguilas but after the final whistle these are the current stats for both sides and we fall one point and two places behind them.
6th AGUILAS FC P 17 W 8 D 5 L 4 GF 23 GA 16 Points 29 8th MAZARRÓN FC P 17 W 8 D 4 L 5 GF 21 GA 15 Points 28
Very similar stats so this will make for a very interesting game.
SANCTIONS AND SUSPENSIONS
The federation need to get their skates on to get the latest update on who will be suspended for Sunday’s game and we will keep a close eye on their site to bring you the latest news as soon as we get it.

SUSPENSION NEWS
Aguilas will be without their hard tackling midfield general Ruben Primo Iznardo for Sunday’s game. This lad has seen plenty of yellow cards and now his second red card in the game against Ciudad de Murcia.
Ruben has been an ever present for Aguilas so far this season and is seen as the teams ‘enforcer’ but took a straight red in the dying moments of Thursday’s game.
Mazarrón FC pick up four yellows in our game and we await the Federations verdict.

SATURDAY MORNING TRAINING 15 Mazarrón first team squad members were at our home ground this morning being put through their paces by the manager. Whilst I was there the emphasis was on passing the ball which from recent reports appears to be a weak link in the team.

Mazarron have now taken just 5 points from their last 5 games. Only 2 teams have a worse performance over that period - the bottom two teams in the league.

Not sure the reason behind the negativity but UCAM Murcia, Muleno, CD Minera, FC Cartagena "B", Real Murcia "B" as well as Estudiantes and Cieza have worse records over the five games and Olimpico de Totana and CD Algar have the same points as Mazarron in that period.

No probs Les. Mazarron are going through a sticky patch at the moment but you can't fault their effort and fitness. We just need to take more of the chances we are creating.

MAZARRON FC 0 AGUILAS FC 0
Mazarron and Aguilas played out a hard fought draw at the Estadio Municipal Pedro Mendez Mendez.
Mazarron started the game brightly and Diego and Habib combined well on the left before Diego's cross was cut out. Then an excellent free kick from Xavi saw Salva Ballesta putting in a dangerous cross but the flag had gone up for offside.
On 16 minutes, Basi had a shot saved while at the other end an Aguilas corner led to a shot going wide from close range. Zurdo had picked up an injury after a clash with his own keeper and an Aguilas forward and was replaced by Gato after 20 minutes. On 23 minutes a Salva Ballesta free kick was headed over the bar by Nacho and a few minutes later Salva's attempt to chip the visiting keeper from 20 yards was saved.
The visitors had a half chance after 32 minutes when a left wing cross was headed straight at Pena in the Mazarron goal who then raced off his line to clear the ball but missed his kick completely. Fortunately his fellow defenders were on hand to scramble the ball clear and an even first half ended goalless.
A good move down the right at the start of the second period saw Basi and Josema combining well only to see Salva blast the cross over the bar. Then Xavi gave away a needless free kick near the right touchline. The free kick was headed on and hit the far post only to rebound into the grateful arms of Antonio Pena. He quickly transferred the ball to the other end of the field and Diego appeared to be pushed off the ball in the penalty area. To his astonishment the referee waved away Mazarron's appeals for a penalty and booked him for diving.
Basi was on the end of a couple of crunching tackles which went unpunished before Antonio received his usual yellow card for what seemed an innocuous challenge, Mazarron continued to dominate the game and Salva's corner was headed just over by Adrian Campoy. Then on 72 minutes Andreo's pass to Basi saw the striker's shot well saved by former Mazarron goalkeeper Pablo,
A clever free kick from substitute Jose Da eluded everyone but was turned behind for a corner from which Basi had another shot saved. After 77 minutes Adrian Campoy had to dive bravely to block a fierce Aguilas shot from outside the penalty area. Substitute Chino then cut inside only to see his shot blocked. The ball fell to Basi whose effort was also blocked and finally scrambled clear by Aguilas.
In the last minute of normal time Adrian Campoy headed a left wing cross against the bar before Aguilas forced two corners in injury time, the second of which saw a shot going just wide of Pena's goalpost.
It was a better performance by Mazarron who probably deserved to get all three points on the balance of play but once again just lacked the killer instinct in front of goal.
Team: Antonio Pena; Josema; Zurdo (Gato); Adrian Campoy; Nacho; Andreo; Basi; Xavi; Habib (Chino); Diego (Jose Da); Salva Ballesta.
Man of the Match: Andreo.

Yet again, Trecera.com agree with Los Amigos and include Andreo in their TOTW. Well done to him.
