NEXT HOME GAME
TERCERA DIVISION GRUPO XIII - game 11
Kickoff 8.30pm (20.30) WEDNESDAY 31st OCTOBER 2018
To be played at the ESTADIO MUNICIPAL (Pedro Méndez Mendez) DE MAZARRON
MAZARRON F.C. v UCAM MURCIA C.F. "B"
Who’d have thought it? Newly promoted Mazarrón FC went top of the league on Saturday night for 24 hours following a great away result against Lorca a side who played in a division two levels above our boys last season but slipped to 3rd following Sunday’s results. Without getting ahead of ourselves this is turning out to be a very good season indeed, so far. With a bit of luck all the stands in the stadium should be open for supporters following recent crowd problems and I just hope that there isn’t a reoccurrence which could lead to far harsher punishment by the federation.
LAST WEEKEND
Mazarrón FC traveled to Lorca last Saturday to take on a side that have suffered in recent years financially in the board room and relegation on the field of play but having said that our boys in red still had to enter their magnificent stadium with over 1000 vocal partisan supporters, 150 Mazarrón supporter made the trip to cheer on the boys, and they still had to overcome a very good footballing team. And overcome them they did. A goal by Salvi secured all three points despite a strong second half comeback by the home side and for a period of time Mazarrón FC sat proudly on top of the league.
Meanwhile UCAM Murcia were the last game to kickoff on Sunday at home against Ciudad de Murcia, the result being an unconvincing 2-1 win securing the victory in the 91st minute having come back from going 0-1 down, but they were helped by one of their opponents players being shown a red card. This result leaves them in 2nd position in the table.
UCAM MURCIA C.F. ‘B’
UCAM are based in Sangonera La Verde which is half way between Mazarrón and Murcia. Sangonera have always had a very good team but seems to have been rebranded as UCAM Murcia C.F.
Last season they competed in the Tercera Division coming a comfortable 10th by seasons end. This time out they are flying sitting joint top of the league and have yet to lose a game. A tough opponent for our boys.
They don’t seem to have an out an out striker rattling in the goals but relying more on goals coming from all around the team.
CURRENT STATS
2nd UCAM MURCIA P 10 W 6 D 4 L 0 GF 14 GA 6 Points 22 3rd MAZARRÓN FC P 10 W 6 D 2 L 2 GF 14 GA 7 Points 20
SANCTIONS AND SUSPENSIONS
As always the details of sanctions and suspensions will be posted on the forum after they are released by the federation.

How much is it to get in tomorrow for an Ipswich town supporter? I am doing my bit for those less fortunate. Do I need to pick up a voucher to get a discount?

THE CHICKENS ARE COMING HOME TO ROOST
It was only going to take time before all of the yellow cards that Mazarrón has accumulated over the last 10 weeks before the suspensions started to hit us.
The first to be suspended for one match, tonight’s game, is Adrian Campoy. One match for five yellows.
These cards could seriously damage our season.
UCAM Murcia are at full strength.

Sorry folks......a bit late with the news!
13 mins and Juan Mata makes it 0-1 to UCAM-Murcia
(Correction....it's Juan Matias!)
And that's the half-time score.
And it's still like that with 10 mins to go.
And that's that.
Final score 0-1
Did Adrian Campoy's absence affect the team?
HOLD THE FRONT PAGE.........................................
THERE'S NOW A REPORT THE FINAL SCORE WAS ACTUALLY 0-2.
Second goal in the 89th minute. With what looks to be like a major bust up.
Can't wait for the match report!

What on earth is going on at this club?
FOUR single yellows, 1 double yellow (Zurdo), reds for Juanjo and Cremades (delegado).
What's the betting there will be a major ramification either this week or next?
I don't know when they will ratify mid-week sanctions.

I was at the game and I was driving so I wasn't under the influence of any legal or illegal substances and I am left confused. Juanjo is our highly strung manager isn't he? When did he get red carded? Also what number is Zurdo and when did he get red carded? They had a player sent off and it looked like a member of either teams entourage got sent off but not our manager. Please could someone enlighten. Muchos Gracias

MAZARRON FC 0 UCAM MURCIA "B" 2
Mazarron's unbeaten home run came to an end when they were beaten 2-0 at home by UCAM Murcia who started the game second in the league.
Mazarron had Alberto replacing the influential captain Adrian Campoy who was suspended and started the better of the two teams. Salva Ballesta and Jose Da linked well to provide Andreo with a half-chance but his shot was blocked. Antonio Pena was called into action after 7 minutes to turn a shot from outside the penalty round the post for a corner.
As Mazarron continued to dominate a superb through ball by Heredia found Basi who despite a surging run forward was unable to get his final shot away and the danger was cleared. Against the run of play, the visitors took the lead after 13 minutes. What seemed a harmless free kick from the left was fumbled by Antonio Pena and Juan Matias gratefully tapped the ball home from two yards out.
Mazarron could have equalised minutes later when a Zurdo throw in was headed on to Basi at the near post and his clever flick rebounded back off the crossbar. Andreo then found himself in the visitor's six yard box but he turned back when a shot seemed a far better option and the chance was lost.
Antonio Pena made another diving save from a long range effort before Alberto was injured in a challenge with the UCAM goalkeeper and had to be replaced by Boudia after44 minutes and the half ended 1-0 to the visitors.
Mazarron received no yellow cards in the first period but Xavi was booked just two minutes into the second half prompting the referee to start the usual rush of second half cautions. Mazarron continued to dominate play and excellent work by Basi saw Jose Da hitting a fierce shot from outside the penalty area which was well saved.
Jose Da was booked for dissent on 56 minutes and Andreo was very harshly shown a yellow card a minute later for an excellent tackle to break up a dangerous UCAM attack. Nacho led the protests but was immediately booked for dissent and, along with Jose Da will miss Sunday's trip to SFC Minerva both having accumulated five yellow cards.
UCAM had a goal disallowed for offside after 60 minutes and a minute later Basi showed his strength and appeared to be held back in the penalty area before hitting a shot just over the bar. The referee continued to keep his cards out of his pocket and sent off the UCAM right back after 66 minutes for his second yellow card. Mazarron's assistant coach Jose Luis was sent from the bench a minute later and Zurdo was booked on 70 minutes for what seemed an innocuous challenge for a ball that was going out of play.
Andreo made a surging run down the right and crossed the ball perfectly only to see Salva Ballesta blaze his shot well over the bar. As Mazarron surged forward in search of an equaliser, Chino was sent on in place of central defender Nacho and immediately played a one-two with Andreo only to see his dangerous cross cut out.
It was all Mazarron now as UCAM Murcia used every trick in the book to break up play, feigning injury at every tackle and making three substitutions in a period of six minutes. Mazarron players vainly appealed for a handball in the penalty area on 84 minutes. A minute later more good work by Basi saw Chino racing down the right and Salva Ballesta just failed to convert his cross at the far post.
Zurdo was sent off for a second yellow card and then it was Basi again who provided Salva Ballesta with yet another chance and this time his shot rebounded to safety off the far post. A succession of corners saw the whole team encamped in the UCAM penalty area and from one of these UCAM broke away to score their second goal with virtually the last kick of the game.
It was a really impressive performance by Mazarron against a team who have not yet lost this season. Their work rate, energy and standard of play was excellent and, despite the defeat. they proved that they can be more than a match for any team in this division.
Our enthusiastic coach Juanjo was shown a red card at the final whistle and will now be banned for the second time this season along with his assistant.
Team: Antonio Pena; Gato; Zurdo; Alberto (Boudia); Nacho (Chino); Andreo; Basi; Xavi (Diego); Jose Da; Heredia; Salva Ballesta.
Man of the Match: Gato

What's the betting there will be a major ramification either this week or next? I don't know when they will ratify mid-week sanctions. What is happening Les is that we have a team who are still third in the Tercera - could go fourth after today's games and have a team which is totally committed to the cause, hard working, skillful and as fit as any team we have seen in recent years. We have a great re-vamped stadium with new seats and a new pitch and a new floodlighting system that must be the best in the league. Crowds are flocking back to the Municipal, both the Spanish and expat support is growing by the week and the atmosphere at games is terrific. Early days, yet but these are exciting times. Yes, like most other teams we are receiving our fair share of cards but most of these are for tackles which would not have even warranted a free kick 10-15 years ago. Dissent is not excusable however and both Jose Da and Nacho will be missing on Sunday because of this. The squad, however, should be strong enough to cope with two or three suspensions.
