NEXT HOME GAME
TERCERA DIVISION GRUPO XIII - game 3
Sunday 09/09/2018 kickoff 7pm (19:00)
To be played at the ESTADIO MUNICIPAL DE MAZARRON Pedro Mendez Mendez
MAZARRON F.C. v OLIMPICO DE TOTANA
We return home with our tails between our legs after our first defeat of the season but more importantly was the performance. Mazarrón F.C. traveled to Minera and came away with a 1-0 loss the goal being scored on the strike of half time from a highly disputed free kick. In comparison to how the lads played the previous week they must be disappointed with the result and performance.
Meanwhile our opponents, Olimpico Totana, picked up their first win of the season at home to CAP Ciudad de Murcia with a couple of late goal giving a 3-1 win to the home side. Totana are surprisingly still coached by ex Mazarrón manager Victor. I reckon that this is his third season in charge at Totana, a bit of a record in the lower Spanish leagues.
Current league table standings mean very little at this stage of the season but Totana are in joint 4th place with 4 Points whilst Mazarrón are now 11th with 3 Points.
Details of sanctions or suspensions will be posted when they are released on Thursday.

Compaired to Mansfield Town on a Tuesday night in February it will be a stroll in the park.
Today Mazarrón town had a river instead on a main road but hardly a drop in Camposol.
The rain will be warm anyway 🤪

Just thought, Sunday’s game better not be a ‘club day’ as if it is I ain’t going.

Just thought, Sunday’s game better not be a ‘club day’ as if it is I ain’t going. You have to be there for Pedro's big day. Stadium naming will either be before, during or after the game.

MAZARRON FC 2 OLIMPICO DE TOTANA 1
Mazarron started the game brightly with Dani Barrelis looking lively up front. On 17 minutes, Diego playing in an advanced midfield role found Dani but he was thwarted by a sliding tackle and the danger was cleared.
Mazarron were certainly playing a lot more passing football than they did at Minera last week and little was seen of Totana as an attacking threat in the early stages. However on 27 minutes Antonio Pena had to be alert to flick a header following a free kick over the bar for a corner.
Mazarron continued to have the better of the play as half time approached and forced a couple of corners one of which saw a header fly just wide of the far post. On 35 minutes Diego ran on to a through ball but his shot was wide of the far post and the first half ended 0-0.
It took Mazarron just over a minute to break the deadlock at the start of the second period. A flowing move down the right ended with Basi's cross being turned into the net at the far post by Dani Barrelis. The lead was short lived however as Esteban equalised for Totana just five minutes later, somewhat against the run of play.
On 63 minutes Mazarron thought they had regained the lead when Jose Da's pinpoint free kick was turned into the net by Adrian Campoy but the linesman's flag was raised for offside. Manager Junjo was sent from the touch line for protesting too strongly. Four minutes later Dani Barrelis broke through but his shot was blocked and Jose Da's audacious chip from 30 yards was just deflected for a corner.
Mazarron kept pushing forward and were rewarded with what turned out to be the winning goal on 75 minutes. Dani Barrelis made a surging run down the left and cut inside before striking his shot into the far corner.
Totana surged forward in search of an equaliser but Mazarron were chasing everything and closing down the visiting players at every opportunity. Totana's best chance came in injury time when a right wing corner was headed wide. Almost immediately Mazarron broke away and substitute Carrasco had a great opportunity but shot wide from an excellent position.
It was an excellent performance by Mazarron and two wins from the first three games in the Tercera Division is a great start to the season.
Team:
Antonio Pena; Josema; Zurdo; Adrian Campoy; Nacho; Andreo (Alberto); Basi; Jose Da (Chicho); Dani Barrelis; Diego (Carrasco); Salva Ballesta.
Los Amigos de Mazarron FC Man of the Match: Andreo
