NEXT AWAY GAME
PREFERENTE AUTONOMICA UNICO - game 32
Scheduled for Sunday 29/04/2018
To be played at the stadium CAMPUS UNIVERSITARIO
REAL MURCIA CITY v MAZARRON F.C. (3 games to go)
Following last weekends 0-0 draw, two points dropped or one gained?, which guaranteed Mazarrón at least a playoff place, we are on our travels for the penultimate away game and this time it’s to face Real Murcia City.
Real Murcia City finished 13th in our league last season but this time out they are looking down the barrel of a shotgun sitting in the next to bottom place in the league, but with 9 points to play for and teams above them not very far away they will be fighting for their lives when we come a calling.
LAST WEEKEND
Mazarrón F.C. should have wrapped up all three points with the opportunities they had against Juvenia but choose to spur them. But on the positive side that single point in the 0-0 draw ensure, at the minimum, that the boys in reds hat will go into the playoff draw at the end of the season and with Totana yet to play, who knows what will happened for the fight for that final automatic promotion place?
Meanwhile Real Murcia City we’re away at Bullense and came away with a bloody nose and a 2-0 defeat even though they were playing against ten men for the last twenty minutes. They needed a result at Bullense to help in their struggle against relegation but to no avail.
REAL MURCIA CITY
Real Murcia City play at the stadium CAMPUS UNIVERSITARIO which is situated almost at the junction of the A7 motorway and the A30. The ground is opposite the Terra Natura Murcia which is the large water park in Murcia, perhaps a quick dip before or after the game? The distance to this ground is 53 KM but will only take 35 minutes as it motorway all of the way. For those with sat navigation the grounds coordinates are 38° 00' 50"N, 01° 10' 07"W
Details of the Los Amigos supporters away coach will be posted when available.
This 2500 seater capacity ground is part of the huge sporting complex belonging to the University of Murcia . It has an artificial pitch, concrete seating down one side, so take a cushion, and I do not know about the canteen or toilet facilities as I have never been to this stadium.
Real Murcia City play in an all purple strip so our lads should be in red.
WHAT HAPPENED THE LAST TIME WE PLAYED?
Real Murcia City have only won seven games all season but one of them was against Mazarrón F.C. in Mazarrón! And here is what happened.
MAZARRÓN FC 1 - RACING MURCIA CITY 2 (10.12.2017)
Murcia kicked off the first half, and despite their lower league position than Mazarrón, they started in a far more positive way.
After only nine minutes an early injury to Juan Andreo meant Mazarrón had to make a substitution. Only two minutes later Murcia picked up a long pass from a free kick and with good play they passed the Mazarrón defence and old favourite Chino, now back with us, found the back of the net – goal for Murcia at 11 minutes.
We hoped that going a goal down so early in the game would spur Mazarrón to pick up the pace but unfortunately this was not to be. Murcia continued to have the better of the play and Mazarrón's defensive play became frantic. Despite seeing a little more fight in Mazarrón's play they could not find a way through and we could not see an equalising goal coming any time soon. Be it from corners, free kicks or open play Mazarrón failed to get into the box and create any scoring opportunities.
The first half ended 0 – 1.
Mazarrón got the second half underway to a better start, getting the ball forward but unfortunately getting caught offside on too many occasions. A long wild strike from Alfonso Canovas (no 8) headed high over the trees. Both teams were making long, high, wild strikes to nowhere, so the ball went end to end but the play was pointless. Raul Torrano (no 2) continued to make fast long runs on the wing, but remained unable to find the right finishing pass.
Then 66 minutes into the game Mazarrón found their opportunity. Seeing the Murcia goalkeeper well out of position, Dani (no 7) took a long strike which bounced beyond the keeper and we all held our breath as the ball rolled gently into the net 1-1
Back on an equal score Mazarrón needed to hold onto at least one point from the game. An excellent strike from Andreo (no 10) caused the keeper to go full stretch as his fingers just guided the ball around the post. Both teams were finally making this a game and there were chances for both teams.
Unfortunately it was Murcia who got the breakthrough as a well taken corner at 84 minutes found its target and was headed easily into the net. The last ten minutes saw both teams giving the game the effort we expect as the play went end to end. There was no last minute way through for Mazarrón and the game ended 1 - 2.
So revenge is in the air, and Chino to make amends?
CURRENT STATS
4th Mazarrón F.C. P 31 W 17 D 6 L 8 GF 65 GA 40 Points 57
17th R.M.C. P 31 W 7 D 8 L 16 GF 42 GA 53 Points 29
So Real Murcia City don’t score that many but have a decent defence whilst Mazarrón remain the leagues top scorers
SANCTIONS AND SUSPENSIONS
With so many players booked from both sides last weekend it will be very interesting to see who will be missing this game through suspensions, details of which will be posted on Thursday evening.
