NEXT AWAY GAME
PREFERENTE AUTONOMICA UNICO - game 30
Scheduled for Sunday 15/04/2018
To be played at the municipal stadium LOS CIPRESES
BALSICAS ATLETICO v MAZARRON F.C.
Following last weekends near miss on 3 Points by Mazarrón F.C. the lads are on their travels to mid table Balsicas hoping to recover from that 89th minute equaliser by Plus Ultra on Sunday. As we have yet to play fellow promotion contenders in our last few game a result against a lower placed team like Balsicas is vital if Mazarrón are to maintain their push for promotion.
LAST WEEKEND
Mazarrón somehow managed to give away two points in the last minute in a game against promotion rivals Plus Ultra in a game that the homeside had most of the play and best opportunities a result which leaves them 4 points from an automatic promotion place, so fine are the margins in this division.
Meanwhile Balsicas we’re away at Bullense where they lost 2-1 and they picked up a number of bookings which could hit them next weekend.
CURRENT STATS
5th MAZARRÓN F.C. P 29 W 16 D 5 L 8 GF 63 GA 39 Points 53
10th BULLENSE P 29 W 11 D 5 L 13 GF 39 GA 44 Points 38
From these stats you can see we score more, the highest in the league, and conceded few goals than our opponents who are in negative goal difference situation so far this season.
WHAT HAPPENED THE LAST TIME WE MET?
MAZARRÓN FC 2 - BALSICAS ATLETICO 0 (26.11.2017)
MAZARRÓN moved back into third place in the league with a 2-0 home win against Balsicas Atletico although they were made to work very hard by a team struggling at the foot of the league table.
Balsicas started the game brightly with their two central strikers proving a handful for the MAZARRÓN defence without really troubling Dani Caro who was returning to the team in goal. In the first half, MAZARRÓN were mainly restricted to long range efforts from Gato and Alfonso Canovas although the visiting keeper had to make the save of the game diving to his left to turn Basi's drive round the post.
The game sprung to life ten minutes into the second half when Basi made a typical surge into the Balsicas penalty area. His pace took him past the Balsicas keeper who made a rash dive at his feet to bring him down and the referee had no alternative but to award a spot kick. The league's leading goalscorer made no mistake as he stroked the penalty kick into the corner of the net to give MAZARRÓN the lead.
The home team then had their best spell of the game with Basi and Dani Morales causing problems for Balsicas with their lightning pace. Dani wasted a couple of opportunities when he burst clear only to waste his final shots with Basi better placed in the middle waiting for a pass. However he made amends in the 83rd minute when he again used to pace to beat the visiting defenders before firing the ball into the far corner of the net.
Balsicas pushed forward in search of a goal but Dani Caro made a couple of good saves in the closing stages to ensure that MAZARRÓN took all three points.
