PREFERENTE AUTONOMICA UNICO - game 26
5pm (17.00) Sunday 11/03/2018
To be played at the COMPLEJO DEPORTIVO GUADALENTIN Alhama in the Jose KUBALA stadium
E.F. ALHAMA v MAZARRON F.C.
Well where do you start? Firstly Mazarrón lost their second consecutive game against promotion rivals which saw them drop out of the automatic promotion place and down to 4th place so that’s 6 points dropped .
There appeared to be something strange happening last weekend firstly with Raso, a crowd pleaser and one of our best defenders, sat on his ample backside on the bench instead of controlling the game on the pitch. Then ‘Sam’ (Juan Andreo) was sitting with the spectators, again not in his usual commanding midfield/defending role or, if he was injured, at the side of Paco the manager.
Would these two players have made the difference in our 1-2 defeat to promotion rivals Algar if they had started the game? We will never know, but what we do now know is that the reign of Status Quo lookalike Paco is at an end. We were informed on Monday that he had left the club. I’m sure an explanation will be forthcoming eventually.
Until a permanent replacement is found Sam will return to action as acting manager, a true servant of Mazarrón FC and we all wish him well during his time in charge.
Our opponents at the weekend are very close, in distance that is, rivals EF Alhama so a bit of a ‘Derby’ game to savour. Last weekend they were away at Bullense and took a 3-1 thumping against a team who have been struggling recently so some hope for us there.
WHAT HAPPENED THE LAST TIME WE PLAYED
A last minute goal gave EF Alhama a point after Mazarron had taken the lead in what was an entertaining game between two well matched teams
It was Mazarron who had the best chance of the first half when Javi Torrano chipped the ball over the advancing keeper only to see a defender racing back to clear off the line just as the ball was about to enter the net. Then Javi Torrano teed up Miguel who hit a powerful drive just wide of the post as the first half ended goalless.
Mazarron started the second half well with Basi always looking dangerous. The league's leading scorer was not to be denied and he gave Mazarron the lead on 59 minutes when he raced clear and beat the Alhama keeper with a crisp drive.
Alhama pushed forward looking for the equaliser and just as the home supporters thought that the three points were in the bag, Monjas failed to clear the ball and Alberto took advantage to fire home the equaliser in the 89th minute.
This was a much better performance by Mazarron with the team unrecognisable from the one thrashed 7-1 away at CD Algar the previous week.
EF ALHAMA
EF Alhama gained promotion last season finishing runners up in the Primera Autonomica and are having a good first season at this higher level, well until last weekend. They play at the Jose KUBALA stadium in Alhama a ground that I have never personally been to. For independent travellers take the RM 3 which passes Camposol continue past Polaris World until you join the RM 2 at the large traffic island, then cross the A7 motorway travelling towards Alhama. At the second roundabout take a left on the N 340 towards Totana. At the next roundabout go straight on take a right at the next traffic island and that will take you to the sports complex containing the football stadium on your left. For those with sat navs the coordinates are 37° 50' 27" N, 01° 26' 03" W
The playing surface is artificial with covered seating down one side and ample free parking outside of the ground. The usual canteen and toilet facilities are available. How is it we can’t have similar facilities in Mazarrón?
The distance to the ground from Camposol is only 22KM and should take just 20 minutes. Details of the away supporters coach run by Los Amigos de Mazarron FC will be posted on the forum and their own Facebook page when they are available.
EF Alhama play in a blue and white striped shirt as per Sheffield Wednesday so expect Mazarrón to be in the regular red strip.
CURRENT STATS
4th Mazarrón F.C. P 25 W 14 D 4 L 7 GF 54 GA 35 Points 46 9th EF Alhama P 25 W 10 D 5 L 10 GF 41 GA 31 Points 35
SUSPENSIONS AND SANCTIONS
Mazarrón will be a little short handed for this game with at least 3 players missing through suspension. Alfonso Canovas was sent off after receiving two yellow cards and both Andreo and Raso picked up their fifth bookings of the season which means that all three will miss next week's game away to local rivals EF Alhama.
We await the publication of any other sanctions lodged against either side when the federation posts them on Thursday evening.

SUSPENSIONS
E.F. ALHAMA BAVINOR ... Gilberto CASTILLO PERLAZA
Doesn't seem to be a key player. No goals and only came on last week as a 70th minute sub.
Meanwhile, as mentioned above, Mazarrón will be short of several key players. Not only have Andreo and Raso completed their fistful of errors, but so has Nacho. Add them to Alfonso's double whammy and the 11 will be 7.
So, expect starts for Dani2 and Salvi and will Jaime get a rare starting place in the lineup?

NO AWAY SUPPORTERS COACH THIS WEEKEND
Due to the close proximity of our opponents ground to Mazarrón it has been decided by the Los Amigos supporters club not to run a coach for this game.
BUT
As they are not running a coach. Some supporters are meeting in the car park on B just before 4pm and organizing a convoy! For those who do not know where the ground is

Mixed results so far today.
Abaran win, bad, Totana lose, good. Algar draw, not bad, Plus Ultra win, bad. Down to the boys in red now and their new leader Sam.

3 0s on the bounce! Not good for a team with promotion as an objective. Double yellow for Monjas plus three other singles!!! Down to 6th place.

.....or Thessaloniki........ The Greek top-flight match between PAOK Salonika and AEK Athens on Sunday was abandoned after PAOK's president invaded the pitch with a gun.
