NEXT HOME GAME
PREFERENTE AUTONOMICA UNICO - game 25
Sunday 04/03/2018 kickoff 5pm (17:00)
To be played at the ESTADIO MUNICIPAL DE MAZARRON
MAZARRON F.C. v C.D. ALGAR
After last weekends hiccup against Abaran Mazarrón have the opportunity to put things right with a home tie against CD Algar who sit just 3 points behind us in 5th place, it’s another of those football pundits classic ‘6 pointer’ game but this time we have home advantage over a side who in the past have caused our boys in red a few problems.
LAST WEEKEND
Coming from two goals down to bring the scoreline to 2-1 in favour of Abaran Mazarrón just couldn’t find that equaliser in their away fixture but all in all it was a good performance against a team fighting to grab one of the two available automatic promotion places. But with most of the teams around them winning or gaining points Mazarrón are now looking over their shoulder at a number of sides snapping at their heels, Algar being one and Totana with its ‘game in hand’ being two of the most serious threats to our boys gaining promotion this season.
Meanwhile CD Algar were at home and they coasted to a 2-0 win over the struggling Bullense side who, at best, are looking for mid table safety and even may be dragged into a relegation dogfight. Bullense made Algar wait until the 78th minute before capitulating to two goals in the last 12 minutes of the game.
LAST TIME WE MET (and what a shocker)
CD ALGAR 7 - MAZARRÓN FC 1 (22.10.2017)
Mazarrón arrived for the match still top of the table the hopes were for more of the same.
MAZARRÓN's team was very depleted by the glut of Red Cards recently issued they then suffered an early blow as Fran Costa (no 7) crumbled to the ground. Unfortunately the flow of the game was often halted as the referee stopped the game and brought the ball back for very minor offences.
The start of MAZARRÓN's downfall came at 25 minutes as, after a wasted corner from MAZARRÓN, Algar broke up the field, showing good skill and hit the target for their first goal. MAZARRÓN soon had a chance as the ball rolled free in the box but Joseda (no 8) tapped it just wide.
Algar moved swiftly up the field and despite the original strike being punched away by the keeper, the rebound was picked up and slotted home for Algar's second goal at 35 minuets.
The first half ended 2 – 0.
MAZARRÓN got the second half underway to the worst possible way as Algar broke in the first minute for goal number three.
There was a moment of hope as MAZARRÓN struck the crossbar but that was about it. Algar were stronger and faster and soon realised that they could break and a single player could go one on one with the MAZARRÓN keeper and too often beat him. This resulted in goal four at 53 minutes and goal six at 71 minutes. Goal five came after an Algar corner caused a clash in the box which resulted in a penalty which was cleanly taken.
MAZARRÓN didn't give up but their spirit was crushed and they were totally outplayed. Goal 7 came after a cross into the box connected to a show-boat scissor kick which sent the ball into the net.
With little left to play for MAZARRÓN got a glimpse of light at 85 minutes as they were awarded a penalty when the Algar goalkeeper brought down Javi Torrano in the box. Basi slotted the ball away cleanly to reduce the goal difference by one.
The game ended 7 - 1 It was only one match and everyone has a “bad day in the office” sometimes.
CURRENT STATS
2nd MAZARRÓN F.C. P 24 W 14 D 4 L 6 GF 53 GA 33 Points 46
5th CD ALGAR P 24 W 13 D 4 L 7 GF 37 GA 25 Points 43
From these stats you can see that Mazarrón are out scoring our opponents quite easily with 7 of our opponents goals 37 ‘donated’ by our boys earlier this season, almost a 5th of all their goals scored, but they do have a rock solid defence allowing only 25 goals to our 33 but again those magnificent 7 does muck up our defensive record.
Both of C.D. Algars top scorers only have 5 goals each some way behind Mauro and Dani Morales who have 9 each with Mauro only joining us half way through the season.
SUSPENSIONS AND SANCTIONS
We will find out on Thursday night if any player from either side will be missing through sanctions or suspensions and details of those players will be posted on the Mazarrón forum and the Los Amigos Facebook site when they become available.
The weather forecast for Sunday is for a sunny day with temperatures topping out at 20 centigrade.

No suspensions shown for Mazarrón.
But Algar will be missing two of their squad.
Miguel CASTEJON MEDINA, who is their joint top scorer with five goals to his name, and Alberto GARCIA MARIN who doesn't appear to have hit the back of the net this season.
Snr. Garcia Marin seems to be their Boudia. A booking a week! And he only joined them in February.

Good news from this morning's game. Plus Ultra only picked up one point so stay 3 points behind.

And they're off........................ Half time.....still 0-0. And the deck of cards collapses............ 0-1... Red card for Alfonso! (Double yellow) 0-2... Maybe not!!! 5 mins to go and Dani pulls one back. 1-2. Too little, too late......... Final Score 1-2. Looks like we'll need more paint brushes.....SIX other yellows. Correction....FIVE other yellows and a straight red for the assistant coach in the 90th minute.

Totana win and leapfrog Mazarrón. But Abarán can only draw. Mazarrón slip to third. Correction....to 4th on head-to-head against Algar. This was more than a 6-pointer!

Not a good Sunday . You know it is not a good day when the half time raffle has doubled in price. Even the weather forecast was wrong. We did get to see a nice rainbow but unfortunately the only thing at the end of it was 3 points for Algar. On a serious note a Mazarron supporter fell off the wall and it was an Algar supporter who called the ambulance, thanks should go to this lady. 2 ambulances arrived within minutes. We hope he is OK.
