SECOND AWAY GAME ON THE BOUNCE
PREFERENTE AUTONOMICA UNICO - game 20
SUNDAY 28/01/2018 KICKOFF 5pm (17:00)
To be played at the CAMPO MPAL. EL ESPARRAGAL
C.D. EL ESPARRAGAL v MAZARRON F.C.
We are on the road again and this time to old foes CD El Esparragal at a ground where we normally get a result, let's hope it's the same on Sunday.
For Mazarrón last weekend it was a great trip to Jumilla in a game that they dominated scoring three goals and collecting three crucial points moving them to one point from the automatic promotion places. The traveling Mazarrón supporters did their bit in driving the team forward to a splendid victory.
CD El Esparragal meanwhile were on the road at Bullense where they could only manage a 1-1 draw against a side that they are stuck in mid table with and it took comeback goal in the 48th minute to save their bacon after going behind in the 8th minute.
OUR OPPONENTS
CD El Esparragal played in the Preferente last season finishing 14th In their second season back at this higher level. They sit in a comfortable mid table position and maybe they are looking safety for the remainder of the footballing year.
We entertained our opponents in Mazarrón in late September and it was a joyous game for the home supporters, here is a résumé of that days events:-
WHAT HAPPENED EARLIER THIS SEASON?
MAZARRÓN FC 4 - EL ESPARRAGAL 1 (17.9.2017)
A scintillating second half performance saw MAZARRÓN continue their unbeaten start to the season with a comprehensive 4-1 home win over CD El Esparragal.
All the goals came in the second half but MAZARRÓN should have gone into the interval in the lead. Adrian Campoy had a header from Dani Linares' corner brilliantly saved and Boudia hit the bar with another header from a corner.
MAZARRÓN took the lead after 58 minutes when Dani Linares took a short corner to Gato on the edge of the penalty area and the full back cheekily lobbed the ball over the Esparragal keeper into the far corner of the net.
It was 2-0 after 65 minutes when, now departed, Basi, who worked tirelessly up front, saw his shot blocked but Jose Antonio was on hand to force the rebound home. MAZARRÓN continued to press forward and Basi drove the ball into the ground and over the Esparragal keeper to make it 3-0 ten minutes
Basi crowned a superb personal performance two minutes from time beating the last defender and chipping the ball over the advancing keeper to the delight of the home supporters.
It was a great team effort and the victory took MAZARRÓN to second in the league table.
CD EL ESPARRAGAL HOME GROUND
CD El Esparragal play in the CAMPO MUNICIPAL EL ESPARRAGAL which is a tight stadium in the center of the town with the same name. For independent travelers the ground coordinates are 38° 02' 14" N, 01° 04' 36" W but the village isn't all that big and the stadium is well signposted. By travelling along the A30 motorway between Cartagena and Murcia City and then the N340 you will arrive at your destination without much problem.
As a point of interest directly across the road from the stadium entrance there is an excellent little bar doing fine food and tapas, well worth a visit prior to the game. CD El Esparragal play on an artificial playing surface which has seen better days, It has an the usual modern toilet facilities and an adequate canteen but compared the bar across the road................. There is some seating down one side of the ground but wise supporters go to the canteen and borrow a plastic chair for the afternoons entertainment. The ground is normally in total shade so at this time of the year it's an idea to wrap up well.
The ground situated to the North East of Murcia City is some 64KM from Camposol and should take about three quarters of an hour to get there.
CD El Esparragal play in a white top and blue shorts so Mazarrón should be in their home red strip.
CURRENT STATS
4th MAZARRÓN FC P 19 W 11 D 3 L 5 GF 39 GA 27 Points 36
11th CD El ESPARRAGAL P 19 W 7 D 4 L 8 GF 28 GA 31 Points 25
So you can see CD El Esparragals problem, they concede a lot of goals, let's hope we increase their problems on Sunday.

Mazarrón will have no absences due to suspension, but Esparragal will be missing two of their lads who have reached the five cards mark.
Jesus PALAZON AMOR who has no goals to his name and David PEREZ SERRANO who has put two goals away so far.
Their leading scorer is one Adrian ESPALLARDO VALVERDE who has 12 of their 28 total and was on the mark in last Sunday's game at Bullense even though he only came on at half-time.

Great result to cap off a good sporting weekend. A shame I don't gamble and do a 5 match accumulator. Norwich and Mazarron to win and Forest, Brentford and Ipswich to lose. Probably not great odds. Sorry Les and Steve.

LaVerdad report. "Mauro left out of breath at Esparragal. Mazaron dominated from beginning to end in a game in which it was deserving of the victory, which could have been more, with a hat-trick from Mauro. The locals lacked opportunities and play, and they continue their bad streak."
