JUMILLA C.D. v MAZARRON F.C.
The away 'trip of the year' has come around again and if you have never travelled to Jumilla this is not a game to miss. It's not just the excellent stadium that Jumilla play in but the really nice town that the ground is situated in, lovely bars and restaurants and famous for its red wine it's a town full of interest and well worth getting there early so you can have a walk round and sample the local food and wine in the numerous bars. But on top of this there is the journey to Jumilla where you pass through vineyards and the wonderful Murcian countryside on the new dual carriageway recently completed.
GETTING THERE
Details of the Los Amigos supporters away coach will be published on the Mazarrón FC forum and Los Amigos Facebook site when available. **Details now available see posting below**.
For independent travellers, leave Camposol on the dual carriageway and join the A7 at Alhama then drive towards Murcia. Continue on the road as if you are going to Alicante but at the A30 junction, where you would normally get off for IKEA, take the motorway and travel North towards Albacete. After a number of miles take the new A33 motorway towards Jumilla and this road will take you all the way to you destination with the motorway reverting to normal roads some 5 or so miles from the town itself. As you enter the town you will be met by a large traffic roundabout, turn left here and the large stadium complex is on your left and the town centre on your right. The is ample on street parking available around the ground especially on a Sunday.
The distance to Jumilla from Camposol is 118KM but will only take about 1 hour 15 minutes due to the excellent motorway system. For those with 'sat navs' the coordinates for the ground are 38° 28' 17" N, 01° 19' 24" W
The ground has a natural grass playing surface and is only spoiled by the fact that there is a running track around the outside of the pitch creating some distance between the spectators to the action on the pitch. The ground has an excellent covered stand so plenty of shade is available during the game. There are modern toilet facilities underneath the stand and it had an excellent canteen with food and drink available, last season the sausage in bread rolls were to die for.
Jumilla play in blue and white stripes as per Sheffield Wednesday so expect Mazarrón to be in their usual red uniform.
WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEKEND?
But back to football. Last weekend Mazarrón FC entertained CD Bullense and Mazarrón came away with a 2-1 win thanks to a determined team effort and a couple of well taken goals. Mazarrón FC even had a goal disallowed and a couple of chances cleared off the line.
Meanwhile Jumilla traveled to relegation threatened Alcantarilla and in a high scoring game they came away with a 3-4 win which dented Alcantarilla chances of pulling away from the relegation zone.
WHAT HAPPENED EARLIER IN THE SEASON?
MAZARRÓN FC 0 - JUMILLA C.D. 0 (10.9.2017)
Mazarrón's first home game of the season ended in a goalless draw. Mazarrón FC applied the early pressure with a number of long throws and corners which caused problems in the Jumilla defence without really creating any clear cut opportunities.
A superb through ball from Andreo after 16 minutes saw the now departed Basi racing clear but his control let him down and Jumilla were able to clear their lines.
Jumilla came more into the game and looked dangerous on the break but Boudia then won a strong tackle on the half way line and raced clear of the Jumilla defence only to see his shot saved.
Mazarron FC almost took the lead in the first minute of the second half when Miguel just failed to convert the rebound when Andreo's shot was parried by the visiting keeper. Almost immediately Andreo rounded the Jumilla keeper and passed inside but Basi took the ball off Miguel's foot as he was about to shoot and the danger was cleared.
On the hour Javi Torrano's fierce shot from the left was saved and Alfonso's effort from the rebound was deflected for a corner. Adrian headed just over the bar from Basi's corner and a free kick from Alfonso was spectacularly saved by Alberto in the Jumilla goal.
WHO TO LOOK OUT FOR
Jumilla have scored just 17 goals this season so far and conceded 34 over half of their goals scored, 9, have been converted by Angel Miguel Falcon Bornay who normally wears the number 7 shirt, he averages nearly a goal a game but is regularly in the refs book.
He scored twice on Sunday during the win at Alcantarilla and is currently in the top ten highest scorer in the league. This is one Falcon who needs his wings clippings 🤣
CURRENT STATS

15th Jumilla CD P 18 W 5 D 3 L 10 GF 17 GA 34 Points 18

Think yourselves lucky you don't support the Canaries! At least a Mazarron victory is some consolation. Hopefully next week will bring victories for both my teams.
