It may eventually have been easy for Barcelona but Real Madrid didn't have it their own way against 2B opponents!
CD Olímpic de Xátiva (Valencia)0 - 0 Real Madrid CF

Another shock for the big boys against 2B opponents!
Gimnàstic de Tarragona 0-0 Valencia CF
And Real Jaén of the Segunda held 'mighty' Espanyol to a 2-2 draw.

Tonight it's Elche vs Villarreal (2-2 in the first leg).
And later Barcelona vs Cartagena (4-1 to Barcelona in the first leg).
55 mins - Villarreal take the lead.
Final 0-1 ... Elche go out.
Now it's down to Cartagena to uphold the honour of the Murcia-Levante region!
Barca not taking chances - include Neymar, Pedro, Fabregas, et al!
Barca subs: Iniesta, Alexis, Bartra, Jordi Alba!!!
26 mins - a stupendous Efese shot rocks the Barca post!
28 mins - Cartagena hit the post again - offside this time!
It's still 0-0.
30 mins - Montoya to Pedro and it's 1-0 to Barca.
68 mins - Neymar to Tello and a lucky ricochet makes it 2-0.
87 mins - Iniesta to Neymar, unmarked header - it's 3-0.
That's how it ends - Cartagena out too!

Now here's turn-up for the books........
Can Sant Andreu of the Valencian 2B division do what Cartagena couldn't - overturn a four goal drubbing from the first leg?
The've just gone 1-0 against Atlético Madrid in The Vicente Calderón!
It took Atléti 'til the 78th minute to get on level terms. What a day for the Saints!

Another great game from Spain. Nip-and-tuck for 70 mins, then Atlético go in front. Great saves by Courtois keep them in the game.
Then.....minute 93!!! Three-man move with Postiga getting the equaliser!
They go back to Madrid on level terms (although I suppose Atlético have the edge with the away goal).

In tonight's appetiser before the main event, our old boy Quini's old team Alcorcón (from the Segunda) cause an upset with a 1-0 win over Espanyol - who were quite honestly AWFUL!

In the main event, Fabregas got two goals and Barcelona won 4-0. Oh, nearly forgot, Messi came on for the last half hour and scored the other two goals in the last 5 minutes. ¡Vamos Lionel!
And in the other game with a local interest, First Division Almeria struggled to a 1-1 draw against Racing Santander from Segunda B!

Second legs coming up.........
First one tonight was......
Almeria (of the First Division) lose 0-2 at home to Racing Santander (of Division 2B) and go out!
Valencia end with 10 men and a culpable goalkeeper and a 0-2 defeat - so they go out too.

Yet again, Espanyol couldn't get out of the starting blocks against Alcorcón and go behind after 10 mins. Even with 10 minutes to go, although they've managed 2-2 they still trail to last week's goal.
But 2 goals in the last 10 minutes see them through 4-3 on aggregate.

The fairy-tale may yet continue! Real Sociedad 3-1 Racing. So the Segunda B team take an away goal back to Santander.
If they give as much as they did in the last 15 minutes tonight, it'll be close!
Two consecutive relegations and players not paid since last September! They need the money

Just been reading up on UD Levante. Interesting story. Ever wondered why their colours are the same as Barcelona?
They were formed in 1939 from a merger of two Valencian clubs. One club had players and no stadium, the other had a stadium but no players (shades of SOHO-Medi!). One of the clubs was originally formed by a Jesuit priest from Barcelona who had them use the azulgrana Catalan colours.
Now, interestingly, Mazarrón use the azulgrana mix! Wonder it we can find a link to Catalonia???
