It's that time of the year again when we all say...."let's see who we'll be up against next season"!
As we enter the play-offs, here's how the Tercera stands at the moment.
Staying from season 2016-17:
YECLANO DEPORTIVO EL PALMAR C.F. REAL MURCIA C.F. 'B' UCAM MURCIA C.F. 'B' NV ESTUDIANTES DE MURCIA C.F. LA UNION C.F. C.D. CIEZA CLUB ATLETICO PULPILEÑO EL CASTILLO HUERCAL-OVERA C.F. E.D.M.F CHURRA-GESA MULEÑO C.F. C.D. MINERA F.C. PINATAR ARENA
If they fail to get promoted to Segunda 'B', the top 4 teams who may stay are:
C.F. LORCA DEPORTIVA LA HOYA LORCA C.F. 'B' (Now LORCA F.C. 'B') AGUILAS F.C. MAR MENOR C.F.
Promoted from the Preferente:
S.F.C. MINERVA C.D. BALA AZUL
And there will be one from the Preferente play-off teams:
F.C. CARTAGENA MAZARRON F.C. U.D. LOS GARRES C.F. MOLINA-GRUAS LA VARIANTE
As a reminder, if one of the Tercera play-off teams gets promoted, FC Cartagena will automatically take their place. If TWO get promoted, Mazarron will also get an automatic promotion.
Now, this is where it gets complicated! The Lorca FC first team are in prime spot for promotion from Segunda 'B' to Segunda 'A'. However, if they fail, their 'B' team will not be allowed to join them and will be forced to remain in the Tercera.
You knew promotion/relegation was never simple in Spain didn't you!

I'm afraid we can forget about this thread for another year.
Unless..................

....unless, of course, one or more of the Tercera teams does not compete in 2017/18!
And it's reported, today, that Huercal-Overa can't get a management together. If that's the case, they won't be competing next season.
Previous experience says the next qualifying team from the Preferente would then get a leg-up.
That would be FC Cartagena.
Leaving Mazarron as next in line for any further defaults!

....unless, of course, one of the Tercera teams wins promotion to the Segunda 'B'.
And Lorca Deportiva are still in with a chance of that.
They are through to the final round of play-offs after beating CF Jerez.

Reports now suggest that the local council have brokered a deal to get a new board of management together and Huercal-Overa will register for next season.
