NEXT AWAY GAME with just 6 games to the end of the regular season.
LIGA PHILIPS PREFERENTE GRUPO UNICO - game 30
Scheduled for Sunday 09/04/2017
To be played at the SANCHEZ CANOVAS stadium
C.F. MOLINA v MAZARRON F.C.
Next weekend we are off on our travels to Molina to take on a side containing a number of ex Mazarrón players and lead by our old manager Victor.
LAST WEEKEND
Mazarrón FC were at home to Alcantarilla and it was a dour affair where both sides were lucky to score zero, this was not a good advertisement for our league and the boys will hopefully put right the numerous errors committed on Sunday and try a find the back of the net for the first time in three games. It is crucial that Mazarrón turn draws into wins if the harbour any thoughts of the playoffs with automatic promotion now out of their reach. 0-0 is just not good enough against a toothless opponent like Alcantarilla even if they do boast the best defensive record in the division.
Molina meanwhile while we're cruising to a 0-3 away win at relegation destined Montecasillas with two old Mazarrón favourites on the score sheet. In contrast to Mazarrón our opponents have rattled in 7 goals in the last three games gaining 7 points from a possible 9 and I am sure are looking forward to claiming another scalp next weekend.
WHAT HAPPENED THE LAST TIME WE PLAYED
MAZARRON FC 0 - CF MOLINA 0 (20.11.2016)
Mazarron made the early running and in the third minute Jimmy's cross from the left was dropped by the Molina keeper but Cesar could only shoot into the side netting from the rebound. Two minutes later Boudia's shot from 25 yards was only parried to Jimmy who shot just over the bar.
Molina came more into the game and former Mazarron striker Jose had a couple of half chances before the visitors missed a great chance to take the lead after 20 minutes. An excellent cross from the left was somehow headed wide by Galo from almost on the goal line.
On 27 minutes a through ball by Raul Torrano was well controlled by Jimmy who swivelled and hit a right foot shot against the post and out for a goal kick. At the other end Mazarron keeper Pablo dropped a right wing corner but the defenders managed to clear the ball after a goalmouth scramble. Both teams continued to attack in search of an opening goal but the interval arrived with the score at 0-0.
Mazarron thought they should have had a penalty five minutes into the second half when Cesar appeared to be dragged to the ground but the referee waved play on. A minute later Javier headed over the bar for Molina and then a Mazarron breakaway saw Ruben try a speculative shot from 25 yards with Raul Jimmy and Cesar better placed to receive a pass.
On 57 minutes an excellent pass by Ruben saw Cesar cutting in from the left but his shot was saved by the Molina keeper. Mazarron came close to breaking the deadlock on 65 minutes when a long cross from the half way line was headed down by Raul and Cesar's shot was deflected onto the bar before being headed clear for a corner.
Despite creating a number of chances it was 87 minutes before Molina were able to force Pablo into making a save and he was more than equal to it diving superbly to his left. Then in injury time a miskick by Raso saw a grateful Pablo drop on to the ball under pressure from the Molina attack.
MOLINA AND THEIR STADIUM
CF Molina play at the SANCHEZ CANOVAS stadium which is situated to the west of Molina de Segura in the countryside and is quite simple to reach for those of you who are travelling independently. The ground map coordinates are 38° 03' 03" N, 01° 13' 31" W and from Camposol take the motorway joining at Totana and travel towards the city of Murcia. As you approach the bridge spanning the river Segura take the turnoff and join the N334 turning left at the traffic island and passing under the motorway. The N334 will take you directly to the ground so stay on that road. You will pass over the River Mula then the River Segura, after this second crossing take the second right turn onto the Carnill Juan Diego Garcia and this road will take you directly to the ground.
The stadium has a natural grass playing surface with seating along the full length of the west side of the pitch so on a sunny day the sun should be at your back. There is a main pitch with a half sized pitch along side of it. It has a modern toilet block, the usual canteen facilities and ample parking outside of the ground.
From Camposol to the stadium is a distance of 53 KM but as the majority of the journey is on the motorway it should only take 40 minutes.
Details of the Los Amigos away supporters coach will be published on the forum and on Los Amigos Facebook page when available.
Molina are having a better season this year than last season when they finished 13th. They have retained a large number of last years squad and added some additions which has improved their team this time out. The team play in an all blue strip so Mazarrón should be in the red uniforms for this one.
CURRENT STATS
5th CF MOLINA P 29 W 14 D 7 L 8 GF 53 GA 33 Points 49
7th MAZARRÓN FC P 28 W 12 D 9 L 7 GF 38 GA 27 Points 45
So you can see that the extra drawn games are costing Mazarrón although we do have a game in hand.
WHERE DO CF MOLINAS GOALS COME FROM?
I can remember how Mazarrón fans used to moan about Angel Lopez Flores (Palote) (No 8) when he played for us, well he has 15 goals to his name so far this season with Mazarróns high scorer being Raul on 6. In addition to Palote Molina have Jose (No 10) and Miguel (No 12) on 7 apiece and host of player contributing from all departments, they will be a hard act to prevent from scoring.
SANCTIONS AND SUSPENSIONS
Details of sanctions and suspensions will be published on the forum when available but it was worrying to see Mazarrón 'keeper' Juan Pedro struggling on Sunday with an injury with only the untested juvenile keeper on the bench with usual backup Pablo nowhere to be seen.
