NEXT AWAY GAME
LIGA PHILIPS PREFERENTE, GRUPO UNICO - game 22
Sunday 12/02/2017 kickoff 4.15pm (16:15)
To be played at the CAMPO MUNICIPAL EL ESPARRAGAL
C.D. EL ESPARRAGAL v MAZARRON F.C.
On the road again and this time to old foes CD El Esparragal at a ground where we normally get a result, let's hope it's the same on Sunday.
For Mazarrón last weekend was a bit of a washout or should I say blow out as our game was called off due to strong winds in the locality which in itself was a strange decision as our junior games were played and besides the Lumbreras home game who play up in the mountains all other fixtures in our league took place. I know that the club president wasn't too pleased with the decision.
CD El Esparragal meanwhile were on the road at Montecasillas where they could only manage a 1-1 draw against a side that's on a one way trip to relegation and it took a last gasp goal in the 89th minute to save their bacon after going behind in the 4th minute.
OUR OPPONENTS
CD El Esparragal rejoined the Preferente at the end of last season after finishing 4th in the Primera Autonomica at that was enough to ensure their promotion. In their first season back at this higher level they sit in a comfortable mid table position looking safe for the remainder of the footballing year. We entertained our opponents in Mazarrón in late September and it was a joyous game for the home supporters, here is a résumé of that days events:-
MAZARRON FC 3 - CD EL ESPARRAGAL 0 (25.9.2016)
Mazarron gained their first victory of the season with an emphatic 3-0 home win over CD El Esparragal at the Estadio Municipal.
The home team took the lead in the first minute after good work by Javi Torrano on the left. His cross to the far post was met first time by Cesar who turned the ball home. On 16 minutes Chino's free kick was scrambled clear by the Esparragal keeper and play transferred quickly to the other end where a mistake by Raul Torrano almost let the visitors in.
However it was Mazarron who increased their lead on 36 minutes. Cesar was fouled on the edge of the penalty area and Chino curled a delightful free kick into the far corner of the net.
Mazarron started the second half brightly without really troubling the Esparragal keeper but the game came to life after 57 minutes when the visitors had Ruben sent off presumably for something he said to the linesman. Mazarron continued attacking forcing a number of corners which were easily cleared and Chino and Javi were forming an impressive partnership down the left hand side.
On 75 minutes a through ball found Raul racing clear and he hit a left foot shot into the net only to see the linesman's flag raised for offside. Substitute Steven then made a good run down the right but Raul could only turn his cross in the arms of a grateful Esparragal keeper. Francisco then became the second visiting player to be dismissed before Mazarron scored a third after another surging run from Chino who found Steven on the right. The youngster's cross into the middle was met by another substitute Ruben who turned the ball home to the delight of the large and enthusiastic home crowd.
CD EL ESPARRAGAL HOME GROUND
CD El Esparragal play in the CAMPO MUNICIPAL EL ESPARRAGAL which is a tight stadium in the center of the town with the same name. For independent travelers the ground coordinates are 38° 02' 14" N, 01° 04' 36" W but the village isn't all that big and the stadium is well signposted. By travelling along the A30 motorway between Cartagena and Murcia City and then the N340 you will arrive at your destination without much problem.
As a point of interest directly across the road from the stadium entrance there is an excellent little bar doing fine food and tapas, well worth a visit prior to the game. CD El Esparragal play on an artificial playing surface which has seen better days, It has an the usual modern toilet facilities and an adequate canteen but compared the bar across the road.................
There is some seating down one side of the ground but wise supporters go to the canteen and borrow a plastic chair for the afternoons entertainment. The ground is normally in total shade so at this time of the year it's an idea to wrap up well.
The ground situated to the North East of Murcia City is some 64KM from Camposol and should take about three quarters of an hour to get there.
CD El Esparragal play in a white top and blue shorts so Mazarrón should be in their home red strip.
CURRENT STATS
7th MAZARRÓN FC P 20 W 9 D 5 L 6 GF 27 GA 19 Points 32
11th CD El ESPARRAGAL P 21 W 6 D 8 L 7 GF 26 GA 30 Points 26
*Mazarrón FC have a game in hand.
So you can see CD El Esparragals problem, they concede a lot of goals, let's hope we increase their problems on Sunday.
GOAL THREAT
CD El Esparragals main goal threat comes from Adrian Espallardo Valverde who has 6 goals so far this season and normally plays with the number 24 on his back, so one to watch out for.
SANCTIONS AND SUSPENSIONS
Details of any sanctions or suspensions will be posted on the forum when available.
AWAY COACH
The Los Amigos supporters away coach will be leaving Camposol at 2.40pm on Sunday from the car park near to the Consum supermarket collecting supporters from El Peraton on the way.

MAZARRÓN FC APPOINTS NEW MANAGER
Mazarrón FC have appointed Jose Sanchez as replacement for Cobos who was shown the door two weeks ago.
Jose, an English speaker, joins us from Tercera side Pulpileno where he was carrying out the duties as assistant coach.
The 34 year old has previously coached at Totana and Bala Azul and his ability to speak English comes from the time that he spent at Leeds University.
Jose has been registered with the Murcian federation so will be present in the Mazarrón FC dugout for Sunday's game at CD El Esparragal. He replaces caretaker 'boss' Juan 'Sam' Andreo who's record is played one won one. Well done Sam, 100%

C.D. EL ESPARRAGAL 0 v MAZARRÓN F.C. 4 Mazarrón goal scorers
Boudia NEKROUF , David CAPARROS MOLINA, Jorge BROCAL MUNUERA & Miguel MENA MATEOS
Esparragal had a player sent off late into the second half but that doesn't detract from a great win and thee more points.
A good start for the new manager which sees Mazarrón more back into the playoff places with a game in hand.

CD EL ESPARRAGAL 0 MAZARRON FC 4
Mazarron continued their quest for an end of season play-off place with a 4-0 away win at CD El Esparragal.
In their first game under new coach Jose Sanchez, Mazarron went into the interval with a two goal lead but had to withstand some fierce pressure from the home team early in the second half before making the game safe with two goals in the last fifteen minutes.
The early stages of the game were scrappy with neither side able to settle down. quickly. Jimmy had a couple of half chances but missed the target on both occasions and then Miguel's pass found Jimmy in space but his shot was saved by the Esparragal keeper.
Mazarron took the lead on 23 minutes when Dani's free kick was only half cleared to Boudia who hit a rasping drive into the roof of the net. After half an hour later Javi Torrano's shot was deflected onto the cross bar and two minutes later a thunderous drive from Miguel was tipped onto the bar by the home keeper and out for a corner.
Mazarron's constant pressure paid over two minutes before the interval after great work from Javi Torrano on the right. His pin-point cross was headed home by central defender Raso to give Mazarron a two goal cushion at half time.
Esparragal came out in the second half determined to attack and the Mazarron defence came under severe pressure with the back four of Raul Torrano, Juan Andreo, Raso and Marcos standing up to everything the home team could throw at them. When they were beaten, young Pablo in goal made a number of superb saves, mainly from long distance free kicks.
At the other end Cesar went close when his clever chip over the goalkeeper rebounded to safety off the cross bar. Substitute Chino made it 3-0 after 75 minutes when he controlled Miguel's pass and cut inside before hitting a left foot shot into the back of the net. He returned the compliement three minutes later when Miguel latched onto his pass and slotted the ball just inside the far post to make the score 4-0. The scoreline may have been a bit harsh on Esparragal but Mazarron took their chances and defended resolutely when they had to.
The win took Mazarron's unbeaten run to six matches with five wins and a draw and they face another tough test this weekend with a home game against high-flying FC Cartagena.
Team: Pablo; Raul Torrano (Pedro); Juan Andreo; Raso; Marcos; Boudia; Dani; Javi Torrano (Chino); Cesar (Ruben) Miguel; Jimmy.
Man of the Match; Raso

Match report from the Esparragal website...
CD Esparragal 0 - 4 Mazarrón FC Day 22 Philips Preferente League. Begins a normal match, and by normal is understood as an even match, chances for both teams, shared possession, etc. Even with the 0-1, which would arrive in the 23' by work of Boudia Nekrouf, the match continues in the same way but the goal fitted in before the break, David Caparros in 43', was made note of for the rest of the match. The first part ended with the result against us, Mazarrón leaves with a lead of two, 0-2. The second half begins and our team raise their heads and they turn in the attack. Juanpa and Rubén on both sides created constant danger but in the 75th minute we managed to make the possible 1-2 to 0-3 against. Juanpa after a very good move on the left hand side gets rid of his mark and shoot at the goal beating the goalkeeper but the ball hits the crossbar and the visitor recovers possession, only seconds later becomes the 0-3, goal of Jorge Brocal. Three minutes later, in the 78', the Mazarrón FC gets again to score and put the score 0-4 definitive.
In spite of the advantage in the scoreboard and to go all the game from behind we did not stop attacking, pressing and trying to make goal but Sunday was one of those days in which for much that you try, for long that the match lasts the goal resists you. Alineación: Rafa "Mono", Soto, Cárceles, Pedrete, Álvaro Caravaca, Juanito, Cristian, Rubio, Juanpa, Sergio Frutos y Edu (C). Sustituciones: Espallardo > Rubio (38'). Perillo > Sergio Frutos (38'). Salmerón > Álvaro Caravaca (45'). Rubén > Edu (45'). Jose Antonio > Pedrete (71').
Goles: 0-1 Boudia Nekrouf (23'). 0-2 David Caparros (43'). 0-3 Jorge Brocal (75'). 0-4 Miguel Mena (78').

WE managed to get another selection in the TOTW on Trecera.com. But you have to be a Sherlock to find who it is! According to their website, it should have been Raso. Congratulations to him.
