NEXT AWAY GAME
LIGA PHILIPS PREFERENTE
GRUPO UNICO - game 20
Scheduled for Sunday 29/01/2017
To be played at the municipal stadium ANTONIO MARTINEZ "EL MORAO"
A.D. CARAVACA v MAZARRON F.C.
This is another great football day out when we travel to Caravaca a ground Mazarrón haven't played at for quite a while and along with Jumilla and Yecla, when we visit them, this is a day out is to be savoured. It's 105KM away but will only take just over an hour to get there traveling through some of the most beautiful countryside of Murcia.
AD Caravaca play in the Municipal stadium Antonio Martinez "El Morao" which means "Antonio Martinez the blackberry"!!!! strange, these Spanish stadium names but having said that Lewis FC play at the "Dripping pan stadium" and there's always the "Kitkat stadium" that York City entertain their followers in, there are some really naughty stadium names but you will have to look them up yourself.😜
The stadium is on the southern edge of the town of Caravaca de la Cruz and getting there is simplicity itself. Join the A7 motorway at Alhama travel towards Murcia City, take the RM15 at Alcantarilla and that road will take you all the way to Caravaca. On reaching the town of Caravaca at the end of the RM15 follow the signs for the town center and the ground is on your left after 400 metres. The are numerous bars/restaurants in the area of the ground which has a large amount of on street parking places available.
For the independent traveling supporter the coordinates to the "EL MORAO" stadium are 38° 05' 51" N, 01° 52' 04" W or put those numbers into your 'satnavs' or just enter them into google or apple maps to locate the ground.
The ground has a grass pitch, modern toilets facilities but for a long established team who have played at a much higher level the condition of the stadium leaves a lot to be desired with uncovered seating only down one side of the pitch with the sun to your rear.
Caravaca were formed in 1969 but after the 2010/11 season the club was forced to dissolve due to economic problems, and its place was bought by CF La Union. The side reformed and gained promotion to the fourth level of Spanish football. AD Caravaca played in the Tercera division last season but were relegated when they finished in 18th place.
Caravaca play in an all white strip so Mazarrón should be in red for this game.
WHAT HAPPENED EARLIER THIS SEASON?
This was one of the controversial games that I have ever watched and here is a resumé of what happened on that day of controversy.
Mazarron supporters were on their feet as one at the end of this game. Not to applaud the efforts of their team but to show their anger at the totally inept performance of the referee Victor Garcia Acosta.
Mazarron could have taken the lead after just two minutes when Javi Torrano's effort was cleared off the line. Then, six minutes later, Coco's flick from Javi's corner was just wide.
After 16 minutes Javi Rodriguez was blatantly tripped in the Caravaca penalty area but the referee waved play on. The ball was transferred to the other end of the pitch and Javier cut inside David before placing his shot firmly past Juan Pedro making his debut in the Mazarron goal to give Caravaca the lead.
Mazarron could not get into their stride but however it was the home team who scored in the 40th minute following excellent play by Javi Torrano down the left. His cross to the far post was headed back by Ruben for Raul to hammer home Mazarron's first goal of the season.
Almost immediately another fine move, this down the right, ended with Ruben firing just wide of the far post. At the other end Juan Pedro made an excellent save on the stroke of half time diving to his left to keep the teams level at the interval.
The fun started in the 48th minute when a long ball out of defence saw three Caravaca players in offside positions. Play was allowed to continue and substitute Boudia made a last ditch tackle before coming away with the ball only to see the referee pointing to the penalty spot. Nicolas drove the spot kick straight down the middle giving Juan Pedro no chance.
On 64 minutes Javi Torrano took the ball out of defence with a Caravaca player hanging on to his shirt. The referee waved play on but Mazarron conceded a free kick and the attack broke down. The referee did not caution the Caravaca player and was surrounded by angry Mazarron players as the visitors took the free kick quickly. With defenders out of position and the ball on the very edge of the penalty area, a Caravaca striker made a theatrical dive after Raso's tackle and another penalty was awarded from which Steven made no mistake.
The referee completed his hat trick after 75 minutes when Boudia made a last ditch sliding tackle and Senor Acosta adjudged that the ball had bounced up and hit him on the arm. A third different penalty taker Rokas made it 4-1 giving Juan Pedro no chance.
Mazarron refused to lie down and spent the last 15 minutes of the game almost entirely in the Caravaca half. A right wing corner was flicked on by Coco and Raso hit a fierce volley which was just tipped over the bar and Mariano shot just wide from the resulting corner. Then substitute Jose's shot was on target before hitting his own player Javi and rebounding to safety.
Three minutes from time Mariano hit a superb shot from 25 yards which smashed against the cross bar and Jose's follow up effort was cleared off the line. Andreo then broke through the middle of the Caravaca defence but pulled his shot wide of the far post. The referee then capped his incredible performance in injury time when Mazarron substitute Juanillo was brought down inside the penalty area and play was inevitably waved on.
WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEKEND?
Mazarrón FC traveled to Los Garres and came away with one of their best wins of the season so far by winning 0-3 a result that saw Mazarrón rise by two placed in the league and to just one point off the playoff placed.
Meanwhile Caravaca traveled to lowly Montecasillas and came away empty handed following a 1-0 defeat. This loss leaves AD Caravaca just one place above the drop zone and struggling for Points.
CURRENT STATS.
8th Mazarrón FC P 19 W 8 D 5 L 6 GF 25 GA 28 Points 29
15th AD Caravaca P 29 W 5 D 5 L 9 GF 18 GA 27 Points 20
PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR
AD Caravaca have two players on 4 goals, Pablo Ruiz Guirado who plays number 10 and number 25 Pablo Nicolas Aranda who is a bit of a naughty boy with numerous yellow and red cards to his name. Both have featured in all of Caravacas games this season so expect them to play barring injury or suspensions.

Details of any sanctions or suspensions will be posted on the forum as they become available.
