Mazarron FC are programmed to play Santiago de la Ribera at home on the weekend of the 14/15 December. On Sunday 15th December there is a big parade in Mazarron with floats, bands etc. that everyone at the club wishes to attend so with 12 days notice here is the match details for the Mazarron FC v Santiago de la Ribera game.
MAZARRON FC v SANTIAGO de la RIBERA
KICK OFF 4pm SATURDAY 14th DECEMBER
It will be at this final home game of the 2013 that Jose, the football club president, has asked if we could be kind enough to donate dried/tinned food stuff along with cooking oil and anything suitable for children, such as sweets, to the charity organisation called CARITAS who do sterling work with the Mazarron community supporting families who are struggling in the current financial climate. Last year at the ground, along side our Spanish supporting friends, we supplied over 200 kilos of food stuff for the needy, we hope to exceed that this year. Jose will take any donations from this weekends game if you want to drop it off early.

Santiago de la Ribera current stats as at 1/12/13
Played 11 won 0 drawn 2 lost 9 goals for 4 goals against 44 points 2
On 1st December they were away against Lumbreras were they lost 1-0 and had a man sent off.
They are currently 18 and last in the division.
Although finishing a lowly 8th place in the Segunda Autonomica, Santiago de la Ribera were promoted and it appears at this stage of the season that the promotion was a "step to far"
This game is the 4th in a series of 5 games where maximum points appear to be possible, but this is football.

According to their facebook page, they sometimes run a coach to away games. They did to Lumbreras. I have asked if they will be running one to Mazarrón. www.facebook.com/pages/Santiago-de-la-Ribera-FC/110382142444018In relation to the Cáritas collection, can I also add the following which has been published on the Sector D community forum: "The Mayor of Mazarrón has spent his Christmas Bonus in making calendars for 2014. All the profits are going to Cáritas. The calendars and all the organization is made by the pensioners club of Puerto de Mazarrón and their amateur theater club.
They are in Spanish and English, and they cost 3€ each. All those willing to acquire one please send me a message or go to the CRA cabin, where the volunteers are helping in its selling."
Any members of the Sector D forum can respond there.

Maureen (of Maureen and Clive) who does such a good job tending the Jubilee and other gardens on Sector D wants to contribute to the Cáritas collection but can't get to the game. I've suggested the Los Amigos meeting tomorrow or next week. But, if anyone sees her, can you offer to help.

I´ve just had the following email from Jose the football club president following his meeting with the Caritas people.

Well the final home game of 2013 is this Saturday when we facing the bottom club Santiago de la Ribera.
Kick-off for this game is 4pm SATURDAY 14th December.
As I have previously circulated, this due to a big parade that happening the next day in Mazarron.
Santiago de la Ribera's current stats as at 9/12/13 are:-
Played 12 won 0 drawn 2 lost 10 goals for 5 goals against 47 points 2
So surely, surely these are 3 points in the bag??
Details of sanctions will be circulated as soon as I get them.
There are a couple of other items that I would like to remind you of.
Firstly if at all possible could you please bring any food stuff that you wish to donate to the CARITAS charity to provide meals for those in Mazarron less well off that us to the game on Saturday.
The food is used to provide cooked meals and also handed out to needy families and their children in this time of financial crisis. Just bring it to the game on Saturday and put it into the trophy room where already a large amount of foodstuff has been collected from ALL of Mazarron FC supporters, ex pat and Spanish alike. Every little bit does help and anything that is donated will be matched kilo for kilo by the football club.
Secondly, Saturday is the very last day when I will have the few remaining El Gordo lottery tickets with me before I hand them back to Jose. So if you want to have the chance to become a millionaire see me at the gate and I'll sort you a ticket out. Just €23 for a chance to become a very rich person.
And the last thing, WEAR YOUR SANTA HAT WITH PRIDE ON SATURDAY.

Suspensions/sanctions
Mazarron FC No suspensions
Santiago de la Ribera 1 player suspended (for 3 games)
He must be a defender as his not scored this season but having said that, Santiago have only scored 5 goals in 12 games, but they have conceded 47! Hope they don't start on Saturday.

FINAL SCORE
MAZARRON FC 5 SANTIAGO de la RIBERA 0
Am I being greedy in saying that the score line could have been, should have been much, much more.
In a game completely dominated by the home side it was came as somewhat of a surprise that it took until 10 minutes before half time before Jose Ruben scored the first of his hat trick with an excellent shot making up for the two sitters that he had missed earlier.
Tico gave the score line some respectability with an unstoppable free kick from well outside the box giving the keeper no chance what so ever.
HALF TIME MAZARRON FC 2 SANTIAGO de la RIBERA 0
The second half continued in the same vein and as Jose Ruben burst into the penalty area he was blatantly pushed to the ground right in front of the excellent referee and a penalty was awarded which was dispatched by ALCON.
Then it was the Jose Ruben show with two excellent goals which sandwiched another Mazarron penalty this time taken by Alfonso but which was well saved by the Santiago keeper who had denied 5 or 6 Mazarron opportunities to increase their lead.
Santiago had a player sent off for two yellows which was justice served as it was the same number 11 who had encouraged and succeeded in persuading the ref to book Randry in the first half.
A brief mention of Santiago's number 9. A gem of a player who shone amongst a struggling team. Sign him on. FINAL SCORE MAZARRON FC 5 SANTIAGO de la RIBERA 0

Two other items from yesterday's game.
I spoke to the very friendly away supporters and their president. He made some nice comments about the high standard of our web site, forum and Facebook page. He also handed Gerard a pin badge to remember them by and Gerard gave them one of our small pennant. A friendly welcome is assured when we go there later in the season.
Regarding the donated food for CARITAS, this year saw the largest donation by supporters of foodstuff to date.
The long table in the museum/trophy room was full and boxes and other crates of donations were already parcelled up from the previous week were stood against the wall ready to go.
We hope to get the food to the charity on Monday/Tuesday to be distributed to needy people in Mazarron.
On behalf of the club I would like to thank all of you that have donated, it does make a difference.

Great effort in collecting all the much needed food for the charity to hand out to the needy people of Mazarron.
And you are right to mention the lad who wore the Number 9 shirt, he would be a welcome asset to the Mazarron team. He gave a good account of himself and gave 100 per cent for the whole 90 minutes.
