NEXT AWAY GAME
CD PLUS ULTRA v MAZARRÓN FC
Scheduled for Sunday 11th December 2016
For our final away game of 2016 we travel to a side we haven't played for a few years in the shape of CD Plus Ultra. I recall the last time being the 2009/10 season when we were just relegated from the Tercera division by a couple of points when we using a side mainly made up of juveniles.
I have mixed memories of the tussles that we have had against our opponents, they have a quite vocal home support in their tight ground. In that particular game Mazarrón FC lost by single but bizarre goal. The football entered the goal via a hole in the side netting but despite protests and the flaw in the netting being pointed out to the official the goal was still given and lead to a Mazarrón defeat by a single goal, a draw from that game would have saved us from relegation.
Plus Ultra have played in the Tercera division since the 2008/9 season but were relegated last season after finishing 16th in the leagues and have really struggled to get a grip of the Preferente Autonomica hovering around the relegation zone all year.
But for us this game marks another match for Mazarrón FC against a team in the lower region of the league following the games against Lumbreras and Jumilla who are in a similar situation to Plus Ultra and our boys must make these games tell if we are to push for a playoff position in the league.
CD PLUS ULTRA
Our trip takes us to Plus Ultras ground, the stadium municipal de Llano de Brujas, which is situated in the village of the same name some 64KM but only 49 minutes away from Camposol as its motorway for most of the journey.
The village of Llano de Brujas is situated just east of Murcia City with the coordinates of the ground being 38° 00' 04" N, 01° 04' 10" W for those of you with sat navs. If not just copy and paste those coordinates into google maps and it will take you straight there. Although the federation are saying that the playing surface is natural grass I recall it being artificial and satellite images seem to confirm this. The ground is just outside of the village and has copious amounts of parking nearby.
The stadium had uncovered sating on one side, a modern toilet block and the usual canteen facilities.
The weather forecast for next weekends is for sunshine and a few clouds with the temperature being 18 centigrade.
Plus Ultra play in blue shirts and white shorts so expect our lads to be in their red strip for this game.
Plus Ultras scoring record is comparable to Mazarróns but it's their sieve like defence which is causing them problems with them conceding two goal for every one scored so we have just got to keep plugging away at their goal until they crack.
Their top scorer is Juan Rosique Alvarez who has 6 goals to his name and wears the number 14 shirt. This guy is no stranger to the yellow cards, he has already been sent off once this season and was on 4 yellows for the Montecasillas game. But he was a good boy last weekend so we should be seeing him. He had missed a couple of matches recently, injured? Besides Juan goals are spread around the team with the next highest being Ramon Amable Robles Rabasco with 3
LAST TIME OUT
Mazarrón were at home to CD Jumilla and in atrocious weather conditions on pitch submerged in water and a game which should never have taken place a moment of brilliance allowed Jumilla to steal all three points when a 25 yard volley left the Mazarrón keeper for dead.
Meanwhile Plus Ultra faced Montecasillas away and the final score was 1-1 even though Montecasillas were reduced to 10 men.
CURRENT STATS
12th MAZARRON FC P 15 W 5 D 4 L 6 GF 16 GA 15 Points 19
16th CD PLUS ULTRA P 15 W 3 D 3 L 9 GF 18 GA 34 Points 12
SUSPENSIONS AND SANCTIONS
Details of any sanctions or suspensions will be posted on the Mazarrón forum and Los Amigos Facebook site when available. But we won't be seeing Miguel Modejar Perez, their number 9, after he received a 4 match ban two weeks ago for 'assaulting an opponent' This wasn't shown in the post match statistics but is on the federation sanction page, silly boy 😜
