NEXT AWAY GAME
ALCANTARILLA FC v MAZARRÓN FC
Scheduled for Sunday 13th November 2016
Next up for Mazarróns FC is a trip to Alcantarilla with the two side only separated in the league by 3 points and 4 places.
WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEKEND
Mazarrón FC were involved in a thrilling local 'derby' game against Bala Azul at home when old boy Jose Da scored the only goal of the game but controversy reigned in the last minute when Mazarrón were denied an obvious penalty when there was a blatant hand ball by a Bala Azul defender.
Meanwhile Alcantarilla FC were on their travels to lowly Montecasillas were the final result was a 0-2 win for Alcantarilla. The visitors scored in the first and last minute to take all three points This result has put Alcantarilla into 7th place whilst dropping Montecasillas to just above the drop zone on goal difference.
ALCANTARILLA FC HOME GROUND
Alcantarilla FC play in the Angel SORNICHERO stadium complex on the out skirts of the town of the same name. This is a large modern sporting complex with two excellent full sized artificial surfaced football pitches both being surrounded by a six lane athletics running track, so spectators are somewhat distant from the football pitch. We have played on both the higher and lower pitch and so it will depend on the day as to which pitch we will be on.
Both pitches have excellent, if not distant from the pitch, elevated seating, the seats being plastic, but there is no cover at the grounds so let's hope for a dry day but umbrellas at the ready. A long distant weather forecast has almost full sun and a high of 21 centigrade for that weekend. The stadium has modern toilet facilities at both pitches and there is an excellent canteen on the entrance to the lower ground.
For independent travellers the directions are simple. Joint the motorway at Alhama travel towards Murcia City, you leave it at it main junction for Alcantarilla signed the MU 30/N340 come off the dual carriageway at the first slip road a distance of only 500 metres or so it's just passed the ITV station. Follow the signs to the N340 crossing over the MU 30 towards the hospital Viamed San Jose and the grounds are directly behind the medical facilities. Access to the grounds is by the road between the hospital and the lower stadium. If we are playing at the higher ground this is situated just another 500 meters along the same road. For those of you with sat navs the coordinates are 37° 58' 27" N, 01° 13' 36" W
The distance to the ground is 46KM but as it is motorway almost the whole of the way it should only take 36 minutes.
Details of the supporters away coach will be published on the Mazarrón forum and the Los Amigos Facebook site when available.
Last season Alcantarilla FC finished 3rd in the Primera Autonomica division and gained promotion. The last time we played was two seasons ago when we lost 1-3 at home but beat them 2-4 away, Mazarrón then went on to gain promotion.
Alcantarilla FC usually play their home games on a Sunday but actual details of the game will be published on the Mazarrón forum and Los Amigos Facebook site when available. Their home strip is a red and white striped shirt and blue shorts so expect Mazarrón to be in their alternative blue strip.
CURRENT STATS
7th ALCANTARILLA FC P 11 W 5 D 2 L 4 GF 11 GA 9 Points 17
11th MAZARRÓN FC P 11 W 4 D 2 L 5 GF 11 GA 12 Points 14
PLAYERS TO LOOK OUT FOR
Alcantarilla have three players with two goals to their name, Manuel Peñas Gomez who wears the number 9 shirt, Fulgencio Jimenez Franco number 4 and Salvador Martin Martinez who has the number 22 shirt. So a bit like Mazarrón FC they struggle for an out an out striker this season.
SUSPENSIONS AND SANCTIONS
Details of any sanctions or suspensions will be posted on the Mazarrón forum when available which is normally on a Thursday night. But Mazarrón picked up a number of yellow cards in the derby game against Bala Azul and it could well mean that we lose members of the squad through accumulation of cautions.
