NEXT HOME GAME
MAZARRÓN F.C. v A.D. CARAVACA
6.30pm (18.30) Sunday 11th September 2016
For the second week on the trot Mazarron FC are at home and facing an opponent that we haven't played for a long time.
Caravaca in it's many forms have had a torrid time in recent years, rising to the 2nd 'B' division, disbanding then reforming plus controversy over the ownership of their ground and to top it all relegation last season.
In their previous incarnation as Caravaca CF they were founded in 1969 but folded in 2012 transferring their franchise to La Union CF under the direction of our old manager Machuca and featuring in the segunda 2b for a brief period.
AD Caravaca formed in 2011 to maintain football in the town of Caravaca and an away trip that is somethings that I'm looking forward to.
Our opponents have made an indifferent start to the season losing their first game 1-0 away at Cartagena but beating Montecasillas 3-2 at home last weekend.
League standing and results at this early stage of the season have little meaning but surprisingly only two teams in our league of 18 have 6 points from the first two games.
Details of injuries and other team news will be made available here where released.

MAZARRON FC 1 AD CARAVACA 4
Mazarron supporters were on their feet as one at the end of this game. Not to applaud the efforts of their team but to show their anger at the totally inept performance of the referee Victor Garcia Acosta.
Mazarron could have taken the lead after just two minutes when Javi Torrano's effort was cleared off the line. Then, six minutes later, Coco's flick from Javi's corner was just wide. However, it was Caravaca, relegated from the Tercera Division last season, who had the better of the early stages playing some neat football orchestrated by their best player, Javier.
After 16 minutes Javi Rodriguez was blatantly tripped in the Caravaca penalty area but the referee waved play on. The ball was transferred to the other end of the pitch and Javier cut inside David before placing his shot firmly past Juan Pedro making his debut in the Mazarron goal to give Caravaca the lead.
Mazarron could not get into their stride and were restricted to long balls played towards Raul who was operating as a lone striker and to a couple of shots from long range. However it was the home team who scored in the 40th minute following excellent play by Javi Torrano down the left. His cross to the far post was headed back by Ruben for Raul to hammer home Mazarron's first goal of the season .
Almost immediately another fine move, this down the right, ended with Ruben firing just wide of the far post. At the other end Juan Pedro made an excellent save on the stroke of half time diving to his left to keep the teams level at the interval.
The fun started in the 48th minute when a long ball out of defence saw three Caravaca players in offside positions. Play was allowed to continue and substitute Boudia made a last ditch tackle before coming away with the ball only to see the referee pointing to the penalty spot. Nicolas drove the spot kick straight down the middle giving Juan Pedro no chance.
Andreo was brought on in the 60th minute to give support to Raul up front and immediately proved a threat around the Caravaca penalty area. It is a mystery why this talented youngster cannot command a regular place in the starting line up.
On 64 minutes Javi Torrano took the ball out of defence with a Caravaca player hanging on to his shirt. The referee waved play on but Mazarron conceded a free kick and the attack broke down. The referee did not caution the Caravaca player and was surrounded by angry Mazarron players as the visitors took the free kick quickly. With defenders out of position and the ball on the very edge of the penalty area, a Caravaca striker made a theatrical dive after Raso's tackle and another penalty was awarded from which Steven made no mistake.
The referee completed his hat trick after 75 minutes when Boudia made a last ditch sliding tackle and Senor Acosta adjudged that the ball had bounced up and hit him on the arm. A third different penalty taker Rokas made it 4-1 giving Juan Pedro no chance.
Mazarron refused to lie down and spent the last 15 minutes of the game almost entirely in the Caravaca half. A right wing corner was flicked on by Coco and Raso hit a fierce volley which was just tipped over the bar and Mariano shot just wide from the resulting corner. Then substitute Jose's shot was on target before hitting his own player Javi and rebounding to safety.
Three minutes from time Mariano hit a superb shot from 25 yards which smashed against the cross bar and Jose's follow up effort was cleared off the line. Andreo then broke through the middle of the Caravaca defence but pulled his shot wide of the far post. The referee then capped his incredible performance in injury time when Mazarron substitute Juanillo was brought down inside the penalty area and play was inevitably waved on.
Despite the shortcomings of the match officials, Mazarron have much work to do if they are to start climbing up the league table. Support is need up front for the hard working Raul and the midfield players are too often caught in possession leading to attacks breaking down and little respite for the defence.
Team: Juan Pedro: Raul Torramo: David (Boudia): Raso: Juan Andreo: Mariano: Cesar (Antonio): Ruben (Juanillo): Raul (Jose): Coco: Javi Torrano.
Man of the Match: Javi Torrano.
