What next season's Preferente will possibly look like based on our current understanding of the shambolic end-of-season promotion system................
2015/16 Mid-table Preferente teams not involved in promotion/relegation:
7 ... MAZARRON F.C. 8 ... U.D. LOS GARRES 9 ... MONTECASILLAS F.C. 10 ... CARTAGENA F.C.-UCAM 11 ... JUMILLA C.D. 12 ... BENIAJAN C.F. 13 ... C.F. MOLINA 14 ... A.D. ALQUERIAS 15 ... C.D. BALA AZUL
Plus the losing team from the playoffs:
5 ... C.D. ALGAR OR 6 ... S.F.C. MINERVA
Teams promoted from the Primera:
1 ... U.D. ABANILLA 2 ... F.C. CARTAGENA 'B' 3 ... ALCANTARILLA F.C. 4 ... C.D. ESPARRAGAL
Plus one from:
5 ... BALSICAS A.T.L OR 6 ... C.D. LUMBRERAS
Teams relegated from the Tercera:
16 ... PLUS ULTRA-MARVIMUNDO 17 ... E.F. ALHAMA 18 ... A.D. CARAVACA
As we've said many times, these could change if teams do not take up promotions or if Tercera teams win promotion to Segunda B (which would create additional places in the Tercera and lower leagues).
A couple of nice drives up to Jumilla and Caravaca and two local derbies, one against the manager's previous club, Alhama.
Also the Preferente will see a resurrection of the grudge match between Cartagena F.C. and F.C. Cartagena 'B'.

If things run as this season just gone, the first week of the Preferente season will be the first weekend in September.
Steve will publish any pre-season games on here as soon as he hears anything.

With the final two playoffs now complete, and assuming the Fed promote the two highest placed teams in Preferente and Primera (to cover the extra two teams into the Tercera), the Preferente line up for next season will now be:
2015/16 Mid-table Preferente teams
6 ... S.F.C. MINERVA 7 ... MAZARRON F.C. 8 ... U.D. LOS GARRES 9 ... MONTECASILLAS F.C. 10 ... CARTAGENA F.C.-UCAM 11 ... JUMILLA C.D. 12 ... BENIAJAN C.F. 13 ... C.F. MOLINA 14 ... A.D. ALQUERIAS 15 ... C.D. BALA AZUL
Teams promoted from the Primera:
1 ... U.D. ABANILLA 2 ... F.C. CARTAGENA 'B' 3 ... ALCANTARILLA F.C. 4 ... C.D. ESPARRAGAL 5 ... BALSICAS A.T.L
Teams relegated from the Tercera:
16 ... PLUS ULTRA-MARVIMUNDO 17 ... E.F. ALHAMA 18 ... A.D. CARAVACA

But, could this be the start of things to come. It seems as if things aren't going so well down at the port:
"The Board of CD Bala Azul has resigned. The next Monday, July 4, there will be a general assembly." (28/6 La voz Twitter feed.)

...and there's more....
They say it's never all over 'til it's over!
Remember the Chinese buying into La Hoya Lorca? Seems they've now 'bought' Lorca Deportiva and merged the two clubs. (Don't ask me why!)
To refresh your memory, Lorca Deportiva finished top of the Tercera but failed to get promotion up to 2B. La Hoya Lorca finished 6th in 2B.
So, if the deal goes through, there will be one less team in the Tercera and presumably, SFC Minerva will get the leg-up from the Preferente.
Which would mean any further defaults or changes in the Tercera would see Mazarrón next in line for the ascenso!
Keeeeep watching!
(I must add, though, that the Fed have still not confirmed how the extra 2 Tercera places will actually be filled! And clubs registration is due by MONDAY 4th July!)

Are you still watching........... Latest news is that the Lorca merger has fallen though. So Lorca Deportiva will be in the Tercera. Bad news for SFC Minerva. Meanwhile, in the Preferente, it is rumoured that Beniajan won't register. So another Primera team could get promotion. CD Lumbreras seem to be the next in line.

Our Presidente's resignation latter to the Council has been published on the internet: My Google translation says: TO: SNR. CONCEJAL DE DEPORTES DEL AYUNTAMIENTO DE MAZARRÓN D. José Miguel Rodriguez Giménez as President of Mazarrón FC, with no. 1431 federativa and address Avda. Juan Carlos I s / n Mazarrón. Hereby informs, Head of Municipal Sports, which after the meeting held by the Board of Mazarrón FC on May 31, 2016 in local social club took the following agreement: Resign all the members of the Board of Directors with immediate effect, although they will remain in functions until the day June 30, 2016, the date on which concludes the sports season. The agreement, taken due to the inability of these managers to undertake further projects carried out to achieve a degree of more evolution of the Entity. I inform you of this fact in order that since the Mazarrón FC has taken part in over ninety years of Intangible Heritage of the town, may take the necessary measures to not to lose or devalue the asset. We hereby also inform you that we will arrange care of the Municipal Stadium to date (30/06/2016) and from there should seek an alternative to the care and maintenance. Activities will be continued to end of this year but will not take decisions affecting next season. So, to avoid prejudicing athletically to the club, would have to fill this power vacuum as soon possible since there are few dates to take certain commitments: to renew the agreement of juniors with Mazarrón FB before 30 June; 2016 register teams in their respective competitions before July 15, 2016; search for coaches, players, set budget ... Without further ado and hoping that this change is most beneficial for Mazarrón FC. In Mazarrón, June 1, 2016 José Miguel Rodriguez Gimenez.

Could this be the end of Mazarron FC?
And with Bala Azul's board also going is the end of football in Mazarron?

As usual, chaos is reigning around registration time!
Seems like EF Alhama (relegated from the Tercera) have decided not to play in the Preferente and will drop down to the Primera!
The team next-in-line to come up from the Primera to the Preferente is DITTRedmovil who play at the Estadio José Barnes in Murcia.

Just a slight rewind on the Beniajan/Lumbreras and Alhama/DITT situation.....
Beniajan may yet take their place, so the official change is for CD Lumbreras to replace EF Alhama.

If and when we do get to play this season, the broccoli shirts of la Hoya Lorca will give way to the fiesta shirts of AD Caravaca:

Here we go then. We're off and running. First weekend is 27/28 August and Mazarrón's first game is away at Montecasillas. As we thought, CD Lumbreras have taken EF Alhama's place and Beniajan haven't turned up. They are replaced by Racing Murcia City (no, me neither - I'll find out!). Our website will be updated later today (or maybe tomorrow!).
