NEXT (and final) AWAY GAME
La Hoya Lorca C.F. 'B' v Mazarron FC
Kickoff 5pm (17.00) Saturday 14th May 2016
Weather forecast for next Sunday is 24 centigrade in the shade.
What an away trip we have in prospect for our final trip on the road in the regular season.
We go to 2nd placed La Hoya knowing our fate in regarding getting to the playoffs is in our own hands with bottom club Juvenia awaiting us at home for the final match of the regular season. But first we have to travel to and play one of the best opposition teams that we have faced this season, but you always travel in hope.
The outcome to this game is vital to both sides with La Hoya looking to secure their second promotion in consecutive seasons having finished 2nd last season in the Primera autonomica whilst Mazarron fight for one of the end of season playoff places. La Hoya come to this game following three consecutive away games, strange!
Following last weekends results La Hoya need to gather just one point from the remaining two games meanwhile Mazarron have to find as many points as they can in order to extend their season into the playoffs.
WHAT HAPPENED WHEN WE LAST MET?
Mazarron FC 0 La Hoya Lorca CF 0 (6.1.2016)
This was the first game after the Christmas break and La Hoya were soon into their stride hitting the woodwork of the Mazarron goal in the first minute of the game and it was a good five minutes before Mazarron were able to mount a number of serious attacks of their own but in each case Palote was given offside. La Hoyas game plan soon became evident, defend deep and break on the counter attack.
It was failures in the midfield that was letting Mazarron down as they were unable to get any real control of the game as pass after pass went astray giving the visitors chances to break into the Mazarron half in numbers.
La Hoya deployed a very effective 'off side trap' and Jose and Palote fell into it time after time, failure to change their pattern of play cost out strike force dearly. The half came to an end with Palote yet again being caught offside and Mazarron having created few clear cut chances.
Half Time 0-0.
For the start of the second half Willy came on and we hoped that his speed and trickery would make a difference but it was La Hoya who were soon back in control and a defensive mix up by Mazarron nearly gives them their first goal as in the fifteen minute a foul by Mounir led to a La Hoya penalty. The well struck shot was well saved by Antonio pushing the ball out of play and the danger was gone.
Mazarron then stepped up the tempo and from a corner on the left Palote was able to get a shot on target but it was well saved by the La Hoya keeper.
The game then went from end to end with the Mazarron defence holding firm while our strikers still unable to defeat the 'off side trap' deployed with La Hoya defenders stepping up as the ball came into their last third, a dangerous tactic but it worked well on the day.
La Hoya were appealing for everything from throw ins to fouls and following a ridicules shout for a penalty, mainly from the visitors bench, Juanma, who obviously has said too much to the officials, was shown a straight red card!
The ten men of Mazarron had one final attack when a pass by Rollon to Willy nearly enabled him to get in on goal but the competent La Hoya defence held firm.
FINAL SCORE Mazarron FC 0 La Hoya Lorca 'B' 0
WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEKEND?
Mazarron were at home to lowly Bullense, who are fighting to preserve their status in this division, where the home side stuttered to a 1-0 win the goal coming from a goal mouth scramble leading to an 'own goal'
Meanwhile La Hoya were on their travels again to CD Algar coming away with all three points in a 0-2 away win.

LA HOYA STADIUM
La Hoya play their home games in the "LOS TOLLOS" football stadium which is situated to the south of La Hoya which itself is the last village before you reach the city of Lorca. The village sits right on the A7 motorway and for independent travellers if you come off at junction 605 the road will take you straight into the village. Head for the railway station and the ground is just beyond it over the railway crossing 100 meters on your right. Distance to the ground is 31KM or about 20 minutes from Camposol.
If you have a sat nav the coordinates for the ground are 37° 42' 00" N, 01° 35' 36" W
For those of you travelling on the away coach it may be worth noting these details and taking a map if the Los Garres trip is anything to go by? Details of the supporters away coach will be published on www.mazarronfc.es and the Los Amigos Facebook page when known.
The last time we were there the ground, whilst in a somewhat semi rural setting, we found it has an excellent canteen and modern toilet facilities and there is seating down one side of the pitch. La Hoya have a good home following and the seats are soon taken in this stadium with a capacity of 800
We will be playing on a plastic playing surface which on our last visit appears to have seen better days.
La Hoya play in BLUE striped shirts 'a la Sheffield Wednesday' with blue shorts so Mazarron will be in RED.
WHO TO WATCH OUT FOR
La Hoyas top two strikers are Miguel Angel Ortuño with 11 goals who normally wears the 10 shirt and Miguel Mena Mateos who has scored 9 goals and wears the number 8 jersey. Not high scoring strikers these guys and La Hoya have rattled in just 61 goals this season, which is only 8 more than Mazarron, and they have scorers in most departments. The secret of their success is their miserly defence having conceded just 26 goals all season their defence is one of if not thee best in the division
