NEXT AWAY GAME
U.D. LOS GARRES v MAZARRÓN F.C.
Sheduled for Saturday 30th April or Sunday 1st May 2016
Los Garres normally play on a Sunday with a tea time start similar to Mazarron but the 1st of May is a national fiesta day so keep an eye on www.mazarronfc.es or the Los Amigos Facebook site for the latest information.
And remember there are just 4 games left to the end of the season and every result is crucial if Mazarron are to secure that play off place.
The trip to Los Garres, who we have played on many occasions, brings back mixed memories for me. I have seen Mazarron FC win some fine games there and have also seen us return home with our tails between our legs, let's hope for the former and not the latter this time.
Whist Mazarron FC are fighting for a playoff place our host sit comfortably in a mid table position with an outside chance of joining us in the playoffs for that third promotion place. They are a difficult side to beat and have a number of excellent players as we saw last December when they visited our stadium, here is a résumé of what happened on that day in Mazarron.
MAZARRON FC 3 UD LOS GARRES 2 (6.12.2015)
Mazarron secured a victory against a strong Los Garres team a win which saw Mazarron moving up to third place in the table.
Despite Mazarron having most of the early play it was Los Garres who took the lead after 30 minutes when Mounir was penalised for a foul in the area and the spot kick was despatched with ease giving Antonio, in the Mazarron goal, no chance. Mazarron continually press the visitors goal but the first half ended with the score 0-1 to the visitors.
Willy came on as a second half substitute and was immediately into the action as Mazarron pressed forward and Mazarron eventually equalised after 55 minutes when good work by Jose and Palote allowed Juanito to force the ball home. 1-1
Mazarron took the lead following a run down the left wing by Willy and his cross was deflected into the net by a defender for an own goal. 2-1
Both Palote and Willy continued to cause problems for the Los Garres defence with Palote missed two fairly straightforward chances for Mazarron. However, the visitors equalised after 79 minutes when a twice taken free kick from the right was headed firmly into the roof of the net. 2-2
After 83 minutes, Mazarron scored what turned out to be the winning goal when yet another run down the wing by Willy saw his cross fired into the net by Palote to give Mazarron a hard earned victory over UD Los Garres. 3-2
LAST WEEKEND
Mazarron FC entertained near rivals Bala Azul at home where both sides played each other to a standstill. This was one of the best 0-0 draws I've been ever witnessed and with other results going Mazarrons way this was definitely a point gained.
Los Garres were away at CD Algar when they were stuffed 5-0 playing most of the game with 10 men having had Emilio Jose Gomez Lopez sent of for two yellow cards received within 2 minutes in the 25th minute. This guy has just 2 goals to his name so is he a defender? The result drops Los Garres to 9th place denting their playoff hopes.
WHO TO LOOK OUT FOR?
Los Garres have a twin strike force of Alonso Patrico Pelegrín with 12 goals and wears the number 9 shirt and his co worker Roberto Mendez Berriatua their number 10 with 8 goals and they have also a number of other players chipping in with goals. So this is an all round team with scoring potential in all departments.
THEIR STADIUM
Las Garres play in the "LAS TEJERAS" stadium in Las Garres itself. The stadium is set amongst housing in an urban setup a few miles south east of the city of Murcia. The co ordinates to the ground are 37° 57' 44" N, 01° 05' 08" W and is 60 KM and 45 minutes away, dependant on your coach driver having a map or a 'sat nav'!! There is parking outside the ground on the side roads but it is limited so get there nice and early to get parked. Details of the supporters away coach will be posted as soon as we have any information.
The ground has an artificial surface which has seen better days but the canteen is well stocked and the toilet block is modern if somewhat small. Please note, the seating at this ground in on the eastern side of the pitch so you will be looked straight into the settings sun so a hat with a peak would be advisable especially as the weather forecast for the game is temperatures in the high 20's centigrade with clear blue skies. I have suffered on those seats before so either take or purchase at the ground lots of cool drinks and wear a hat, a red one as Los Garres play in an awful green striped shirt so Mazarron will be wearing their usual red strip.
CURRENT STATS.
4th MAZARRON FC P 30 W 14 D 9 L 7 GF 51 GA 39 Points 51
9th UD LOS GARRES P 30 W 14 D 3 L 13 GF 54 GA 47 Points 45
