NEXT AWAY GAME
MONTECASILLAS FC v MAZARRON FC
SATURDAY 16th or SUNDAY 17th APRIL 2016 (Montecasillas normally play on Sunday's)
Only 6 games to go
So we are back on the road again for next weekends games against a familiar opponent in the shape of close rivals Montecasillas FC. The stadium, of which more later, sits in the shadow of the castle come religious building on top of a high point near to the ground called the Castillo de Monteagudo, you will have noted this structure to the East of Murcia as you drive past Murcia city on the motorway and gives a lovely backdrop to the game.
Monticasillas FC played in the Preferente Autonomica last season and only just missed out on a playoff place finishing 7th and are looking to go one step better this season.
We played Montecasillas FC last November and at which time they put an end to a run of seven games undefeated by Mazarron beating us 1-2 on our own pitch even going down to 10 men in the process, so revenge is in the air, I hope.
WHAT HAPPENED THE LAST TIME WE MET
Here is what happened during that encounter:
MAZARRON FC 1 MONTECASILLAS FC 2
Goalkeeper Paco was soon under pressure as the away team got quickly into their stride and it was no surprise when Montecasillas took the lead with ball down the right which saw Ismael running on before firing into the net.
Following Mazarrons first shot when by Jose which went wide, a mistake by Alberto almost let in Montecasillas for a second goal but Mazarron managed to clear the danger at the last second.
The second half began in a similar vein with Paco being kept busy in the home goal and Mazarron were unable to mount any serious threat on the Montecasillas goal.
The visitors went further ahead in the 75th minute following a right wing move and following poor defending by Mazarron Alejandro forced the ball home for a deserved second goal.
Mazarron pulled a goal back when an excellent ball by substitute Hafid saw Jose racing through before being brought down by the visiting keeper who was sent off. Juan Andreo sent the substitute goalkeeper the wrong way to reduce the arrears.
Mazarron were unable to put any further pressure of substance on the Montecasillas goal before the referee signalled the end of the game.
WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEKEND?
Mazarron FC were at home to near rivals Cieza where, dispite some diabolical referring biased against the boys in red, the final score was 1-1 but many other results went our way and we actually moved up one place in the league to 4th
Meanwhile 6th placed Montecasillas suffered an away defeat at CD Algar, who always seem to be our next opponents previous game, where the final score was a 2-1 win for CD Algar thereby preventing Montecasillas from pulling away from Mazarron FC in the league and in fact placing them below us.
Montecasillas did have a game in hand over Mazarron FC but the good news is that they could only draw that rearranged match, against Bullense. The game was played last Thursday!
CURRENT STATS
4th MAZARRON FC P 28 W 13 D 8 L 7 GF 47 GA 37 Points 47
6th MONTICASILLAS FC P 28 W 14 D 4 L 10 GF 46 GA 42 Points 46
PLAYERS TO LOOK OUT FOR
Keep an eye out for Guillermo Mascuñan Simarro who is the leagues top scorer at the moment with 14 goals from 19 appearances. For some reasons he was missing from the team sheet in last weekends defeat against CD Algar. The next top scorer for our opponents has only 6 goals, so stopping their main guy is the key to drying up their goals.
MONTECASILLAS FC STADIUM & OTHER INFORMATION
Montecasillas FC play in the small town of Cassilas at the stadium Municipal de Cassillas who's coordinates are 38° 00' 49" N, 01° 05' 29" W and is situated on Carril Aragonés. It is just a short distance from the N-340 and is situated to the North East of Murcia city. The distance to the ground is 60 KM and will take about 40 minutes if driving from Camposol.
Details of the supporters away coach will be made available on the Mazarron FC forum and Los Amigos Facebook site when they are known.
The pitch has an artificial surface. There are two banks of seating on the west side of the ground either side of the half way line, so the sun will be at your back. There is the usual canteen facilities and a modern toilet block. Capacity of the ground is given as 600. The last time we were there a couple of seasons ago it was free entry but I don't know if this is still the case.
Montecasillas FC play in red shirts and black shorts so Mazarron FC will be in their changed strip of BLUE.
SUSPENSIONS & OTHER TEAM NEWS
Besides Palote, who will be missing his 3rd of a 4 game suspension, details of any other suspensions and of any withdraws due to injury or work commitments will be posted on the Mazarron FC forum on www.mazarronfc.es
WEATHER FORECAST
The weather forecast for the Saturday and Sunday is for temperatures of 27 centigrade in the shade, clear blue skies and light winds. So take a hat, a blue one, and some sunscreen.
