NEXT HOME GAME
Mazarron FC v SC Águileño
Kick off 5pm Sunday 21st February 2016
For the second of two back to back home game Mazarron FC welcome relegation threatened and rock bottom side Sporting Club Águileño to the municipal stadium.
The two sides last met on the 3rd October last year when Mazarron FC gained their first win of the season at the fourth attempt, and here is what happened:-
SC AGUILENO 0 MAZARRON FC 1 (3.10.2015)
Mazarron fielded a more attacking formation than previously and it was the home side who started the game stronger but Mazarron soon began to make inroads into the Águileño defence.
A through ball found Juanito in the clear but he just overran the ball and a minute later Jose squandered an excellent opportunity when he hit his shot tamely at the keeper.
The best chance of the first half fell to Hafid when a right wing cross found him unmarked but he sliced his effort wide. Then a fierce strike by Jose was well saved by the Águileño keeper as Mazarron went into half time after a much improved performance.
Mazarron broke the deadlock after 78 minutes when a through ball found Palote who dribbled into the penalty area and around the Aguileno keeper before steering the ball into the empty net.
More chances fell to Mazarron but this was somewhat curtailed when they were reduced to ten men when Mounir was sent off after receiving his second yellow cards of the game.
The game finished in a flourish for Mazarron with first Jose rounded the keeper only to see his shot cleared off the line and then Juanito, in injury time, hit a curling left foot shot which hit the post and rebounded to safety.
It was an excellent team performance by Mazarron and a much deserved first victory of the season.
WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEKEND.
Mazarron were at home to CD Algar, who were missing old boy Jose Ruben, suspended, and a Mazarron side somewhat changed with recent departures. With captain Juan Andreo missing due to his father being in hospital and Jose, our leading striker, only on the bench due to a bout of flu, two of the most influential member of the squad were not available at the start of the game and it showed. In a pulsating game Mazarron took the lead but were pegged back at the start of the second half. Mazarron strikers hit the bar and post and scorned many a chance before they were denied a winner by a controversial offside decision against Jose with the last kick of the game.
Meanwhile bottom of the league Águileño faced fellow relegation side Bala Azul who were next to bottom, at home and that encounter finished as a 2-2 draw. Bala Azul went ahead in the first minute with Águileño equalising from the penalty spot. Bala again took the lead only to be pegged back by the home side.
CURRENT STATS
5th MAZARRON FC P 21 W 10 D 5 L 6 GF 38 GA 30 Points 35
18th SC ÁGUILEÑO P 21 W 2 D 7 L 12 GF 19 GA 36 Points 13
PLAYERS TO LOOK OUT FOR
Águileño have one player on 6 goals, a certain Raul Lorente Ruiz, but after this guy I'm afraid that they don't have much ammunition in the cupboard. Meanwhile Mazarron FC have a number of players scoring on a regular basis. I hope that this could be one of those games where our goal difference improves.
