NEXT HOME GAME
MAZARRON FC v CD ALGAR
Kickoff 5pm (17.00) SUNDAY 14th FEBRUARY 2016
So it's back to Mazarron for the first of two home fixtures and first up is CD Algar who's side contains two Mazarron old boys in Jose Ruben and midfielder Monti.
The first game against Algar took place last September and finished in a 3-1 defeat for Mazarron with Jose Rubin coming back to haunt us. Here's what happened.
CD ALGAR 3 MAZARRON FC 1 (27.9.2015)
Mazarron conceded three goals late on in he game and left them bottom of the league table.
Mazarron started the game well with Juanma causing problems whilst Juan Andreo hooked the ball off his own goal line after Antonio in the Mazarron goal had been 'chipped'
Mazarron went close on 28 minutes when Champi's free kick was scrambled clear by the Algar defence. Then, almost immediately there was another chance but Jose could not quite reach the cross created by Juanito.
Jose Ruben arrived at the start of the second half following a substitution. But it was Mazarron who went ahead when a through ball saw Jose racing clear and he slipped the ball past the Algar keeper for his third goal of the season.
Algar equalised after an hour when a free kick on the edge of the penalty area was converted into a goal.
Mazarron went close with efforts from Jose and Juanma. But it was Algar with another free kick from the edge of Mazarron's penalty area that found Jose Ruben and he drove the ball past Antonio.
Mazarron pressed forward in search of an equaliser leaving just three men at the back and paid the price when a superb through ball saw Jose Ruben racing through from the halfway lane to steer the ball passed Antonio.
WHAT ABOUT NOW?
At the time at the end of that game CD Algar were flying high whilst Mazarron FC were rock bottom of the league with muttering sounds coming from the stand but Jose stuck by our manager Victor and his newly formed team having confidence that he would turn our season around, and he has.
Currently Mazarron lie in a handy 5th place with Jose aiming for the end of seasons playoffs at least whilst CD Algar are 11th after having a very mixed first half of the season.
5th MAZARRON FC P 20 W 10 D 4 L 6 GF 37 GA 29 Points 34
11th CD ALGAR P 20 W 7 D 7 L 6 GF 29 GA 33 Points 28
LAST TIME OUT
As you may know Mazarron travelled to Totana where the fans were ripped off at the gate with a price hike whilst the team were ripped off on the pitch by a poor decision by the officials when the home keeper should have been sent off and despite dominating the game for 70% of the match Totana took all three points with two disputed build ups to their goals, a case of hit and run by Totana.
Meanwhile CD Algar were at home against bottom side SC Aguileño (who just happen to be our next opponents after CD Algar) and they scraped by 1-0 win against a side who have won only twice this season. Jose Ruben came on at half time, he didn't score but he picked up his usual booking, I'm sure that we are all looking forward to seeing him.
ONE TO WATCH OUT FOR
CD Algar have scored 29 goals this season and a third of those came from the boots of Antonio Sanchez Campos who has 9 and you have to look a long way down the list to find anyone else who has made a big contribution to the goals for list. Jose Ruben has two to his name, both against Mazarron!
For Mazarron FC Jose is still near to the top of the pile in second place with 11 goals with contributions also coming from Juan Andreo, Willi, Palote and others.
SANCTIONS/SUSPENSIONS/TEAM NEWS
Details of suspended players will be posted as soon as they become available.
Last weekend we were missing Juanfran with a leg injury, young Antonio (goalkeeper) who is currently studying in Granada and Lorca who had a family celebration on Saturday night, thick head? Lorca was sorely missed by the Mazarron defence, he has been a stalwart all season.
OTHER BITS AND PIECES
The weather forecast for next Sunday is 22 centigrade with plenty of sunshine and with the weather warming up and lighter nights the kickoff time has been eased back to 5pm (17.00) but you'll still be back home to see your favourite Sunday night TV programme.
And as you take your seat please note the new paintwork around the ground including our stand that has been undertaken by Jose and his ground staff at the stadium.

LORCA LEAVES MAZARRON SQUAD
After speaking to Jose I can confirm Lorca has been sacked following his no show last weekend and other discipline reasons, pity as he was forming a great partnership with Juan Andreo. Jose is looking for defensive cover prior to Sunday's game.
The rest of the team should be available.

MAZARRON FC SIGN NEW DEFENDER
Jose has been quick to replace Lorca with experienced defender Gilberto.
He will be wearing the number 3 shirt and shouldn't take long to settle in as he played for Mazarron FC 2 seasons ago.

GOOD RESULT FOR MAZARRON FC
Before kicking a ball MAZARRON were done a big favour by Beniajan who beat Cartagena 0-3.
Cartagena are the team just ahead of Mazarron with the gap being just one point and we now have a game in hand.
Down to Mazarron to do the business on Sunday against CD Algar.

BUT A BAD RESULT FOR MAZARRON FC
Minerva beat Juvenia 2-1 earlier today, Minerva came back from one goal down then scored a late penalty.
This result, prior to the Mazarron game, means Mazarron FC drop to 6th BUT with a win today we move back into 4th place.

FINAL SCORE
MAZARRON FC 1 CD ALGAR 1
Mazarron started the game without captain Juan Andreo (Sam) as he father was ill in hospital and Jose, our main striker who was on the bench with a bad case of the flu, Jose joined the game late in the second half and we saw what we had been missing after he came on.
in a pulsating end to end game Mazarron took the lead with a cleverly worked free kick routine finished off by Juanfran who was returning from injury.
Then after 3 minutes of the second half CD Algar equalised after poor defending from Gilberto who had just come on as a sub.
In that hectic second half Mazarron hit the post and bar whilst Palote over elaborated when one on one with the keeper. He should have dinked it over the oncoming keeper but as per usual he wanted that extra touch, frustrating.
Alfonso and another Mazarron player both cleared off the line when it appeared certain that Algar would take the lead, but the biggest controversy was a disallowed Mazarron goal from the last kick of the game, for an alleged offside. The official felt the wrath of the crowd as they departed the pitch.
The game was played out in the second half in a fierce gale and driving wind and plummeting temperature with the stadium emptying quickly towards the end of the game.
So a point for Mazarron and Algar but both sides must think that they had let two points slip.

Match report with thanks to Dave Capper
MAZARRON FC 1 CD ALGAR 1
Mazarron were denied a victory when a last minute effort from leading scorer Jose was ruled out for offside. In a game which was spoiled by a strong wind, both sides had chances to win the game, especially in the second half.
CD Algar made the early running forcing a corner which was cleared by the Mazarron defence before Willy's pass found Palote whose shot was deflected for a corner. Mazarron's first real opportunity came after 24 minutes when Willy and Palote combined well and Champi's shot was saved by the Algar keeper.
Three minutes later an Algar forward shot wide after a corner was only half cleared by the Mazarron defence. At the other end, Hafid played a through ball to Willy who raced down the left wing but his cross, intended for the waiting Palote, was cut out by the visiting keeper.
Mazarron took the lead after 35 minutes when Juanlu's clever free kick was chested past the keeper by Cristian and Juan Fran forced the ball over the line. Five minutes a great run by Palote was cut out by the Algar defence with Willy rushing in at the far post.
Gilberto replaced Juan Fran in the centre of the defence at half time but was caught cold when he was unable to cut out a long ball and Juan Manuel ran out to place a firm shot past Antonio into the corner of the net for Algar's equalising goal.
Mazarron were spurred into action and forced four successive corners one of which led to Hafid hitting a right foot drive just wide of the post. After 67 minutes a vicious free kick from Willy on the right hit the post and rebounded to safety and a minute later Enrique hit the bar after excellent work from Hafid.
Algar were still dangerous on the break and Antonio had to make two excellent saves with Alfonso also heading off the line. But it was Mazarron who should have made the game safe when Willy's perfect pass saw Palote running clear but, instead of shooting, he tried to dribble round the keeper who was able to grab the ball and avert the danger.
Juanlu was injured when bravely clearing the ball off the line and then Mazarron thought they had won the game when Jose found the net in injury time only to see the "goal" ruled out for offside.
Team: Antonio; Mounir; Juan Fran (Gilberto); Alberto; Alfonso; Juanlu (Jesus); Enrique (Champi); Cristian; Willy; Palote (Jose); Hafid.
Man of the Match; Hafid
Mazarron are at home again next weekend against Sporting Club Aguileno on Sunday (21st February) kick off 5 pm.
