MAZARRON FC v CF LA HOYA LORCA
Kick off 4.30pm (16.30) WEDNESDAY 6th January 2016
If you are looking at the toughest teams that we played last season, it was La Hoya, but remember, like Mazarron FC, their squad will be greatly changed from last season with many comings and goings and so the two games against one of our near rivals will not be a foregone conclusion especially after the recruitment Jose made over the summer break.
The home fixture in November of 2014 saw Mazarron take a 1-0 lead through a Tolo penalty and Mazarron generally having the best of it until the 56th minute when La Hoya equalised against the run of play. Despite constant Mazarron pressure the game finished as a 1-1 draw
The second game saw Mazarron travel to La Hoya where, in all honesty, we were well and truly crushed by an excellent opposition. In March 2015 we all trapezes off to Lorca expecting another close game as per the home leg but from the off Mazarron were on the back foot.
The game was marred by a serious injury to a La Hoya player after just seven minutes following an accidental clash with Mazarron youngster Stevens. There was a hold up of over 30 minutes until the ambulance arrived to take the unfortunate player to hospital. Shortly after the restart La Hoya took the lead when a deflected shot looped over Carrasco into the net, it was going to be a busy afternoon for Carrasco in the Mazarron goal.
We had to wait until the 50th minute before the goal delude began when La Hoya increased their lead when right back Alfonso was beaten and the La Hoya forward slotted home.
On 64 minutes a La Hoya free kick completely deceived Carrasco to make the score 3-0.
But Mazarron did pulled a goal back but in bizarre fashion after 67 minutes when a clearance from La Hoya was charged down by substitute Juanillo and, from an acute angle, the ball rolled slowly into the net.
The rest of the game was dominated by an excellent La Hoya team who scored twice more in the last five minutes to complete a comprehensive victory. Final score 5-1
But as I said things have changed since. Mazarron go into this game in a clear 3rd place following the comprehensive 0-4 away win at Bullense whilst La Hoya are in 10th place with just 6 wins from 15 games and their last game of 2015 was a 3-3 home draw.
CURRENT STATS
3rd MAZARRON FC P 15 W 8 D 3 L 4 GF 29 GA 20 Points 27
10th La HOYA LORCA CF P 15 W 6 D 4 L 5 GF 26 GA 20 Points 22
La Hoya have a twin strike force in Miguel Angel ORTUÑO GARCIA who has 6 goals whilst his partner Juan Luis Gilberte HERNANDEZ has 4 but after that you really have to go down the list to find any other prolific scorer. Maybe last years players have moved onto pastures new? Her's hoping.
It is hoped on the day of the game the free chicken and chips promised to Los Amigo members will be made available at a nearby restaurant and I know that a coach for this first home game is being discussed to enable supporters to enjoy the day but more on that at a later date.

Unlike previous years Mazarron FC are not involved in Christmas tournament this year so the La Hoya game is our next fixture.
Please remember that as per previous years there will be a dried/tinned foodstuff collection for the local branch of the Caritas charity but this year it will take place after and not before the festive period. All food stuff collected will go to our local community less fortunate than us and of course the football club will match donations kilo for donated kilo.

Looks like a 0-0 stalemate.
3 teams now in joint 3rd place.
Minerva, Cartagena and Mazzarón.
But, seeing as how we have beaten them both, we can claim to be the real third placed team!

FINAL SCORE
Mazarron FC 0 La Hoya 0
A very even game against one of the best teams that we have played this season.
Young Antonio in goal saved a penalty following a silly tackle by Munir and again came to Mazarrons rescue in the second half with a point blank save.
But Mazarron should have taken all three points right on the stroke of full time when Jose lead a counter attack and was synically brought down as he was pulling the trigger. The foul was well within the area and the tackle was from the back, a cast iron penalty, but it was waved away. A shocking decision.
The man of the match was our young goal keeper, Antonio.
