FINAL SCORE
MAZARRON FC 1 JVENIA 1
So Mazarrón CF will play the final against cd esparragal in the final of the playoffs taking us to to The preference Autonomic.
This is also a good result financially, two draws means we get the win on away goals and final league position without having to pay win a bonus :-)
But I'm sure though that Jose will look after the lads.
The final score in the other game was Beniajan 0 v Esparragal 2 and Esparragal won 3-1 in the first leg, So that's 3rd placed Beniajan failing against 6th placed Esparragal. But as Les pointed out to me this means that the first leg will be away again, as we finished higher than Esparragal in the league, which is to our advantage and we need all the help we can get as Esparragal did the double over us this season.

Now then, it's like this...
Jumilla won their playoff today and get promoted to the Segunda B. (They only have to play one round as Tercera champions.)
That means every division below them gets a free extra promotion!
And it seems as if that extra promotion goes to the team finishing THIRD in each division.
So that screws up the playoffs doesn't it!
According to the Esparragal Twitter feed, Beniajan, finishing third in the Primera will be promoted to the Preferente even though they lost the playoffs to Esparragal!
It looks like Esparragal and Mazarron will still have to fight it out for the 'regular' promotion place.
Only in Spain could they make it this complicated!
EDIT.......mind you, I suppose that means that Mazarron, finishing FOURTH, would automatically fill any further vacancy caused by teams folding. Even if we lose the playoff!

MATCH REPORT as seen by Dave Capper
MAZARRON FC 1 CD JUVENIA 1
Mazarron reached the Primera Autonomica Play Off Final on the away goals rule after another pulsating game in the second leg against CD Juvenia. After 180 minutes there was still little to choose between these two excellent teams but it is Mazarron who go forward to face CD Esparragal in the Final.
Neither side could make any impression in the early stages although Manu fired over the bar from Javi’s cross in the tenth minute. Then Andreo’s cross from the right was fisted away by the Juvenia keeper with Tolo lurking at the far post. Juvenia’s first effort was a free kick on 15 minutes which went harmlessly wide.
Mazarron took the lead after 21 minutes when an excellent free kick from Liders was glanced home by Tolo for his 36th goal of the season. Juvenia could have equalised 3 minutes later but for a superb double save by Conejo, first diving to his right to palm away a free kick and then throwing his body in the way of the ball to block the follow up effort from close range.
After 30 minutes a shot from Monty was blocked and the ball fell to Tolo on the edge of the area with his back to goal. A superb overhead kick sailed into the roof of the net but the referee had spotted an infringement and the goal was ruled out.
Juvenia had a couple of efforts in the closing stages of the first half but the Mazarron defence held firm to preserve their one goal advantage at the interval.
After 52 minutes clever interplay between Tolo and Manu saw Manu’s shot saved by the Juvenia keeper. Mazarron then went close with two free kicks, the first by Monty and the second by Tolo, both of which were well saved. Mazarron made a number of substitutions which disrupted the flow of the game somewhat and allowed Juvenia to press forward more in search of an equaliser. It was no surprise when they drew level with ten minutes remaining after a left wing cross was headed home at the far post by Quijada.
This set up a tense finish to the game as Juvenia pressed forward for the goal which would see them through to the final. The Mazarron defence held firm, however, and the long suffering Mazarron supporters in the large crowd celebrated with the players as the final whistle sounded.
Team: Conejo; Alfonso; Juan Andreo; Dani; Lorca; Manu (Mateo); Andreo; Liders; Monty; Javi (Diego); Tolo (Tono)
Man of the Match: Andreo.

PLAY OFF FINAL, FIRST LEG
CD ESPARRAGAL v MAZARRON FC
SCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY 7th JUNE 2015
Of all the sides that I didn't want to meet in these playoffs it is Esparragal. There is just something about that team, they are a bogey side for Mazarron FC and that's a fact. I can only remember one game where we really sorted them out when the final score was 4-5 and that was last season at their place. But besides that they do seem to have a hold over us so the next two games are an ideal opportunity to put that particular hoodoo to bed and ensure it is Esparragal who are destined for another season in this league whilst Mazarron FC move up to the Preferente.
I think that the game changer this time though will be that Mazarron FC will have a full squad of senior players available as well as the 'cream of the crop' from our two excellent juvenile sides to select from which wasn't the case in the last two encounters between these two sides.
WHAT HAPPENED THIS SEASON?
FIRST MEETING
In late October last year we travelled to Esparragal with a severely depleted side containing 5 juveniles and despite having a good first half and a storming last 10 minutes Esparragal scored the only goal of the game which finished:
Esparragal 1 Mazarron FC 0
SECOND MEETING
The return fixture at our ground took place in March during a bad run of 5 results for the Mazarron lads when only one point was gained. Again our side fielded 5 juveniles and Esparragal soon rushed into a 0-2 lead before Tolo pulled one back. Mazarron had a number of chances that went begging to equalise before the final whistle but it wasn't to be and left Mazarron with zero points from both their encounters with Esparragal.
Mazarron 1 Esparragal 2
CD ESPARRAGAL
CD Esparragal finished the season in 6th place, that's two places and six points behind Mazarron FC. They scored 13 fewer goals than us and conceded 10 more.
Their top scorers are FRANCISCO REGADERA CORTES with 10 goals, EDUARDO JAEN LOPE with 9 and SERGIO FRUTOS MADRID with 8 in the regular season. FRANCISCO REGADERA CORTES upped his tally to 11 on Sunday against Beniajan.
Both Cortes and Madrid were booked it the games against Beniajan but I don't think that those cards will come into play in the calculations for the next two games against Mazarron FC.
So on the face of it goal-scorers are not at a premium for Esparragal but other in the team do chip in with a number of goals.
CD Esparragals ground is in the centre of the village and is on the small side. The surface is artificial but was ageing the last time we were there with an uneven bounce, it has seen better days.
There is an excellent bar/restaurant across the road from the ground serving tasty tapas, the stadium, if you can call it that, has a canteen and a modern toilet block.
CD Esparragal play in white shirts and blue shorts at home so it's RED ALL THE WAY for Mazarron FC supporters.
The CAMPO DE FÚTBOL, EL ESPARRAGAL, for that is the inspiring name of the ground, can be located by inputting the following co ordinates into google maps 38° 02' 14" N, 01° 04' 36" W
SANCTIONS/SUSPENSIONS
If there are any players subject to sanctions or suspensions I will post them on the forum.
AWAY MATCH TRANSPORT
Of course the supporters club will be running a coach to this game and following the fantastic support last weekend I think it will be a case of 'book early to avoid disappointment' if you want to travel on the Los Amigos coach, details of which will be posted here and on the Los Amigos Facebook site when available.

And I suggest someone takes a satnav on the coach with them!
The November game was one I got to and, sitting near the front of the coach, I was surprised to be asked by the driver where the ground was!
The lack of any clear landmark to refer to, plus the lack of a satnav, plus my inadequate Spanish didn't give him confidence we knew either!
So he had to stop at the local gas station for directions!

I'm sorry to say that your incident wasn't the first time that this has happened with this coach company, I have been asked on two occasions for direction by the driver for the grounds location, drivers who don't appear to have been provided with a Tom Tom or similar devise by the coach company.
Up to now we have fuddled through but I would hate to miss such an important game through lack of preparation.
Failure to plan is planning to fail.

NEWS FROM THE GROUND
I spoke to Jose this morning (2/6/2015) about a number of subject and here is a resume of what was said.
CONFUSION IN THE PLAYOFFS
As you might have read on the Mazarron FC forum, Jumilla of the Tercera division have gained promotion to division 2B. The knock on effect of this is that there is an additional vacancy now available in the Tercera so an additional team will be promoted from the Preferente, the division above ours, to the Tercera division.
This has the knock on effect that an additional team, a fourth, will now be promoted from our division to the Preferente.
Now here is the fly in the ointment, the Murcia federation has now deemed that the team finishing 3rd in our league will be automatically promoted, and that team is Beniajan who have just been thrashed, and knocked out of the playoffs, in both legs of the playoff semi finals by our next opponents Esparragal. So those two results are put to one side and Beniajan are promoted.
Our playoff final games go ahead against Esparragal but wouldn't it rub salt into a wound when we beat them and they are stuck in our division but the team that they easily beat in the semi final are promoted.
BUT that could all change as both Calasparra of the Preferente and Caravaca of the Tercera division are imminently about to fold due to lack of funds. And of course this will have the effect of creating further opportunities for teams to gain promotion. So both Mazarron FC and Esparragal could well be promoted despite the result of our two games.
GAME NEWS
This weekends away game will almost certainly be on Sunday as the champions league final between Barcelona and Juventus is on Saturday. Details will be posted as soon as possible.
The second, home, leg in Mazarron will be on Sunday 14th June BUT Murcia television have expressed an interest in showing the game. If the game is televised it will start at 6pm (18.00) but if it's not the game will kick off at 7pm (19.00) We should know the decision re televising the game in the next couple of days.
TEAM NEWS
All members of the squad are fit and in training and are really looking forward to next weekends game. Enrique should return following his one match suspension.
JUVENILES FINAL GAME
Our juvenile first teams last home game will be played on Friday to allow the youngsters to watch the champions league final on Saturday.

There is another playoff shambles unfolding as a result of Real Murcia losing and failing in their bid to return to the Segunda.
Two problems arise from this....
1. This year they played in 2B group 1 - the 'Northern' group. Should they be reallocated to the 'Southern' group 4? What will that do to the numbers?
2. Real Murcia Imperial - Real Murcia's second team - are doing well so far in the promotion playoffs from Tercera to 2B. BUT, second teams can't play at the same level as their first team. So, even if they knock-out other teams and 'win promotion', they can't take up the place! What will that do for the teams they knock out?
At least when we had Third Division North and South, only Mansfield and a couple of others had to shuttle back and forth. With 4 regionals in 2B and eighteen in the Tercera, there will be these problems caused by the playoffs every year.
And, of course, any change in 2B/Tercera has the knock-on effects down the leagues. It must happen in all the regional lower leagues.
