NEXT AWAY FIXTURE
EF LOS ALCAZARES v MAZARRON FC
Scheduled for SUNDAY 10th MAY 2015
Los Alcazares tend to play their games on a Sunday but exact timing of this game will be posted as soon as the federation gets its finger out and shows it on its web site.
Well we are now down to the penultimate game of the regular season with still all to play for for both Mazarron and Los Alcazares. Neither sides are still 100% certain about their playoff place and this game could well decide which of these two sides, if not both, will feature in the end of season fight for promotion.
LOS ALCAZARES CURRENT FORM
After being promoted from the Segunda Autonomica, although finishing 5th last season, Los Alcazares have faired pretty well in this higher division which is not the case for many of the over promoted sides in the league, just look at the bottom of the table and you'll see what I mean.
Los Alcazares come this game in 7th position in the league but having played 3 of the bottom teams in the last 4 games. Of those games they beat Yeclano, drew against Lumbreras and last weekend faced lowly Sucina where end result was an expected 0-2 away win.
Their best result of the last four games was a 0-2 away win against Beniajan who are in a solid 3rd place in the league, but this was against 10 men after Beniajan had a player sent off early in the game.
PLAYERS TO WATCH-OUT FOR
Los Alcazares main threat comes from JOSE ANTONIO DIAZ CANOVAS currently on 17 goals but, unlike Mazarron FC, they do have goals in their side from other sources with a number of players on 6, 7 & 8 goals so the threat could come from anywhere in this team.
MAZARRON FC CURRENT FORM
What have Mazarron FC been up to in those same, last four, games? Well they certainly haven't been playing teams in or around the lower reaches of the table, indeed it's been other sides fighting for promotion that they have been facing and the players of Mazarron FC have certainly shown their resilience.
First it was a 1-2 hard fought away win on the impossible pitch at Blanca, then it was onto Espinardo at home who were dispatched 7-0. A tricky away trip to Thader provided Mazarron FC with a 2-4 win and then last weekend it was fellow promoting hopefuls Alberca. This hard difficult game ended in a 5-2 romp for Mazarron FC
A tough run in but the lads have certainly stepped up to the plate and have produced both great performances and results.

WHAT HAPPENED WHEN WE LAST MET.
MAZARRON FC 3 EF LOS ALCAZARES 2 (20.12.2014)
Mazarron recovered from a 2-0 deficit after being reduced to 10 men to stage a fighting recovery and earn an important victory in the last few minutes of this tie.
For the first 15 minutes of this game Mazarron were in complete control of this fixture but spurred a number of good chances, however a mix up in the Mazarron defence, during Los Alcazares’s first attack, resulted in them taking the lead.
Mazarron continued to have most of the possession with young winger Steven instrumental in creating numerous chances, but again none of which were converted.
Mazarron’s new signing Antonio Clares was then sent off after a scuffle in which he appeared to have been the innocent party. This setback didn't deter the home side who continued to press.
Unfortunately, Mazarron found themselves further behind shortly afterwards and it came in an almost identical way as the first goal. A long punt down the field by the Los Alcazares keeper saw two Mazarron defenders going for and missing the same ball, allowing the visiting striker to beat Conejo and make the score 2-0.
Alfonso then combined with Andreo to give Diego the simplest of chances making the half time score 1-2.
Tolo and Steven continued to cause problems for the Alcazares defence. Juvenile striker Domingo replaced Diego which led to Mazarron bombarded the visitors’ goal with shots with Steven, Tolo and Domingo all going close.
Mazarron deservedly drew level in the 86th minute when Domingo found an unmarked Tolo who calmly tapped the ball home. Two minutes later it was Domingo who rounded the Alcazares keeper before slipping the ball into the empty net to give the home team a much needed and deserved win.
MATCH-DAY ADMIN
Los Alcazares wear a blue playing strip with white shorts so please wear RED for the game.
Los Alcazares play in the beautiful Mar Menor lakeside town of the same name. I lived there prior to moving to Mazarron and it is indeed a lovely town.
Their stadium however, although newish, is not in my top ten grounds to visit. The "TORRE DEL RAME" stadium is set at the back of the town a fair distance from the shore line, which is a pity.
But at least Independent travellers should have no difficulty in locating the ground as it is a short distance from junction 790 on AP 7 Cartagena to San Javier motorway and is sign posted "Los Alcazares centro".
Follow the directions to the town centre and the ground is 500 meters on your left hand side, the stadium being well sign posted. For those of you with 'sat nav's' just input the following co- ordinates 37° 44' 26" N, 00° 51' 30" W which will take you directly there.
The stadium itself use to have a natural grass playing surface, which the Federation web site says is still the same, it certainly was when I resided there, but there was mention of upgrading it to a 3G pitch, now where have I heard that before?
Seating, if any, is at a premium, and the football pitch forms part of a larger sports complex. There is plenty of on street parking and as usual a small refreshment canteen.
Distance to the ground is just 68KM and should only take about 45 minutes especially if you use the Toll motorway.
Details of the supporters away coach will be published on the Los Amigos Facebook page and on the Mazarron forum as soon as they are available.
SANCTION/SUSPENSIONS
Details of any player suspended for this game will be published on the Mazarron FC web site when available, usually Thursday night. Other team matters can also be found on those web pages. www.mazarronfc.es
